We have been ordering baklava from this place for the past 8+ years for our family and religious events. I must say that the last two times we placed the order for two full trays we have been very disappointed. The baklava was very dry and there was no syrup sent with it (like they used to include). When I called and complained about it, I was given a lame excuse as if I don't know my baklava. Going forward I would have to find a different place - unfortunately. read more

This place is beautiful inside with the relaxing fountain and spacious atmosphere. The bakes good and cakes as well as many types of baklava all look so good. My sister is a huge fan and has tried many items here. It was my first time and I was impressed by the variety, taste and look of all the sweets. It was super hard to pick a sweet. They also have ice cream and a good variety of beverages including coffee. I ended up picking a strawberry cake to split with my sister and she got some small long baklava which both of them we split. My niece got ice cream and my sister carried out some items to take home. It was very popular but the service was quick and the staff was extremely helpful. This is a smaller version in comparison to the other location in Dearborn. Zero stars. I spent nearly $300 on food, and my package arrived after being left outside in the summer heat with no ice or cooling materials, even though it had traveled all the way from Michigan to Philadelphia. The kanafeh dessert arrived stale and did not taste fresh. To make matters worse, the representative, Samar, was rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I would never order from Shatila again and would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Amazing Middle East bakery! Came in for some snacks for my office, and the baklava here is the best! Service is fast and attentive, they have quite a few workers here. The ambience and nice, modern and very clean. This looks like a newer location and building. The store is beautiful with big bright display cases. We've had the baklava from the east Dearborn location for years and was always blown away at how delicious and appealing they looked. I recently bought a valentine assortment and was utterly disappointed. The taste was bland and dry. It seems like the ingredients changed. I will try them again but hope this was just an anomaly! read more

This new Shatila literally opened across the street from the subdivision I grew up on. Every time I drove by the construction with the big "coming soon!" sign I would curse under my breath that they weren't here when my family was living there. But alas, it's probably for the best, since I'd probably be there every day. I was able to pop over shortly after they opened and had a great experience. The decor is very relaxing (the fountain!) with loads of seating and tons of treats to choose from. I ended up choosing a few treats to take home, a few slices of knafeh, some of the European style mini cakes, and a plate of awamat. Everything was delicious! It was early in their opening so they had loads of folks running behind the counter so it didn't take very long to go in and out. I was taking mine to go but staying in and dining would also be a very nice experience. read more

My family and I have been visiting Shatila since we were kids. When I heard that a new location opened up closer to me, I was excited to try it out. Today was that day. The interior of the building is stunning! Very sleek and it felt like I walked into an oasis. I could tell that the owners spared no expense! The displays were organized and clean, and everything looked delicious. Customer service is very quick and respectful, and ensured that my order was right and that I left satisfied with my experience! I got 2 cases of 4 sweet cheese rolls. I'm so happy that they taste exactly like the ones I always got when I was a kid in Dearborn! Congrats on the new location and will definitely be returning to try some more! read more

I've been wanting to stop in for a few months now. I've been going to the Shatila in Dearborn on Warren Ave (which had relocated from Schaefer Rd) basically my whole life. This Dearborn Heights location is a bit closer to home, we drove past and stopped in for the first time Sunday evening. It's a beautifully designed restaurant, but the way it's run is chaotic. Normally, at the other Shatila, you walk I'm and take a number and wait for your number to be called. I looked all around for the ticket machine, I did find it in the corner, empty. So, the way it's set up is a counter for Arabic sweets (pastries, manages, mini meat/spinach/ cheese PIES, kanafeh, a section of baklava (which they're known for and what I typically compare all baklava to). They have a coffee station, a French pastry/ cakes, etc.. (In my opinion, these French style pastries are pretty, but don't taste as good as they look. You go to Shatila for baklava and kanafeh). Then there is an ice cream section, Shatila makes their own ice cream, which I hear is great. I only gave a 3 star review of this location because it was s ok disorganized. There were no numbers to pull, people seemed to be standing all around, waiting for an employee to approach them. There appeared to be several employees in the back, the ones up front were sort of milling around and I could see that not many customers were being helped. Lots of young employees. Finally, I went to the cashier and asked if I could order a piece of kanafeh to go, he told me to stand over there (he pointed in the general direction). We were doing that, and nobody helped us. So, we go back over and waited again, I believe a person that came in after we did, was helped before us. Anyway, we finally got waited on. It was frustrating and disorganized. So, if we wanted ice cream, would we have to stand over there, wait for a person in that area to help us? Then, if we also wanted coffee, would be have to wait near that area? What if we wanted pastries, we would have to wait again in that area? No sense of order, it seemed like more training for employees was needed. They needed to utilize the number system. The kanafeh was decent, it's usually better. Maybe the experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Shatila is a place to get fresh Lebanese desserts for sure, and while this location does not appear from the outside to be elegant, they've done a nice job designing the interior. The pastries all looked fresh and delicious. I really wanted to taste the Raspberry Baklava as the counter help assured me it tasted like raspberries. It did not. In fact, I didn't even finish it. This was our first time at this branch of Shatila. We've been to the OG many times before when my husband lived in Dearborn Heights. This one is so pretty and it feels so much less chaotic than the other location. Staff were very nice. We picked up an assortment of baklava and also our favorite kunafeh. 2 stars because I've only tried the baklava so I can't speak on everything. Heard good things about this place too so this is sad that the baklava is slacking. Bought a box of baklava, it seemed undercooked with no simple syrup. Had to make my own simple syrup to pour on top and it was some of the best baklava I've had. Maybe this first time was just a fluke so I went a second time, even worse. If they add the simple syrup and cook the dough just a tad longer, I will be buying their baklava on a regular basis.
