I am so absolutely in love with this place I got the meat pie the cheese pie and a chocolate pie. All of them were amazing and delicious. I tried all of the turkish candies. They were amazing. I had the Turkish coffee and it is absolutely the best cup of Turkish coffee I've ever had!! This place is tiny and it's tucked in a strip mall so if you blink you missed it , but it is so absolutely worth it to come here. The owner is so kind and you can see that he puts his good energy into everything he does all the food taste amazing I felt welcome. The place was super clean and I will definitely be back here again. So if you're looking for some phenomenal Turkish pastry and coffee, this place is a must try! read more

During COVID, like many others, I watched many videos on baking techniques, including one for khachapuri, a thick, baked crust shaped like a boat to hold cheese and egg. While I was an avid watcher, I am not an avid baker. The videos inspired me to find a restaurant/bakery that offered this delectable meal. During my research, I learned the difference between khachapuri and pide; I was interested in trying both. By the way, Turkish pide has a thinner crust and can be filled with savory toppings. Simit is a relatively new Turkish bakery/café/shop with an enclosed case filled with baked goods up front, waist-high shelves with Turkish goods bordering the counter, and a few tables against one wall. On the day of my visit, the tables were already occupied but there was still counter space near the window. I went with the pide topped with cheese and egg. Spinach or meat are also available. They are custom-made, so it takes a bit of time, but it was well worth it when you can scurry away with a piping hot, freshly made meal. I also purchased the gül börek a brioche-like roll with spinach, and a crispy börek, a flaky pastry also filled with spinach. Both were heated so I could get straight to tasting when I got home. This new location is absolutely fabulous. Marble everywhere. Comfortable seating. Everything's sparkling. The food is still the best, large variety of drinks. All very reasonably priced. The employees are very sweet and helpful. So glad to have this in Garden City. I hope they are very successful. read more

First visit. Wowed! Great savory Turkish pastries. Got a cheese, as well as a meat borek, simit (Turkish bread/bagel), and some Turkish delight candy. All fantastic! I've been to turkey many times and this definitely compares to the taste and quality, if not better. The dough is PERFECT, so light and fluffy. I have had almost everything on their menu and I can't pick a favorite. Call ahead of time to make sure what you want is available as they sell out on popular items early. Absolutely awesome. The very definition of a hidden gem, this Turkish bakery has only been open over a month at the time of this review. They offer a variety of traditional Turkish pastries (both savory and sweet) at very reasonable prices. The name of the restaurant is inspired by the "simit" (a ring shaped bread pastry covered in sesame seeds), which is one of the most commonly eaten breakfast foods in Turkey. They also offer spinach pies, meat pies, potato stuffed pies, cheese pies. The names on the menu can be intimidating, but the wonderful lady at the front desk is happy to help you navigate all the variety of foods they offer. I was told their baklava is great too, but they were out due to high demand which doesn't surprise me so I'll have to come back and try that hopefully. Everything was made fresh and flaky and it's hard to pick a personal favorite, but I highly recommend the cheese pide by a mile. read more

Pide be long n oval filled with unique Cheese you can get Meat, Spinach, Zaatar or Egg n Cheese. Borek picked up Meat and Gul traditional Turkish layered light n fluffy Rolls. Pogaca Feta n Parsley rules . A couple different Baklava be large triangle shaped OMG Wonderful. A couple round cinnamon chocolate marshmallow fluff type rolls explosion of flavor each Bite. Very little of this extraordinary bread makes its way to the States, and where it does, it receives little recognition, even at a time when Middle Eastern cuisines have never been hotter.
