Writing this review took me a lot longer than expected, not because there was a lack of words, but rather so much to share about the life changing experience I had working with Shaun Alston (Eagle Realty) and Dave Bernatchy (Landmark Mortgage). If I could give them a 10 stars out of 5 stars, I would. As first time homebuyers, my fiancé and I couldn't have asked for a better team. They were so patient with us, every step of the way. They stood out from the rest of those in their fields through open and consistent communication. I don't like guessing what's on people's minds and I don't like getting the run around when I have questions. Never during the search for our home did I find myself feeling in the dark. When uncertainty presented itself, I felt Shaun's support which made the biggest difference in this new chapter of our lives. He really did look out for our best interest. Finding our dream home was very bumpy. Several unfortunate events took place that were outside of our control. When we started this journey, we came across what a property we really liked, and guess what? We got it! We were beyond excited. However, then came great difficulties involving the HOA and the seller's agent that led to us cancelling the transaction. At that point, my fiancé and I were devastated because we had already made payments towards that transaction. Shaun's team worked diligently to get back our deposit and what we had invested on the inspections. It was an uphill battle, but in the end we got all our money back. When we were about to call it quits, Shaun somehow found us a beautiful place to call home. This new place was in a gorgeous gated community that felt like a nature park in the middle of the city. When my fiance and I first walked through the door, we were ready to call it home. Again, something came up. We ran into problems with the HOA because they had not sold a property to a potential buyer with a "low down payment conventional loan" in several years. We got concerned, and this time it hit us even harder. Thankfully, Dave worked miracles allowing us to buy the home. On top of that, Dave even got the entire subdivision approved for the type of loan we had! Incredibly, all this happened within our expected escrow period without any extensions or delays. I could never thank Shaun and Dave enough for the amazing team they are and the impeccable work they're capable of. Redemptive... Shaun Alston and his team is one of a kind. His services was always in the front line for us. Let just say he became us and put himself in our shoes. He protected us, he spoke for us and represented us. He went all out and he was on fire with us through our trials and tribulations. He put his expertise and reputations on the line but most of it all, he was compassionate. It started last year summer in 2024 purchasing a brand new home with a big lot that was complete with a multi generation home. We witnessed it being built from ground up. Then a new builder came in next to our future home. We looked at the model. Based on structure and size it was much bigger and benefited our needs for about the same price. So we made the decision to cancel on our current home to the new builder. Of course they were disappointed and told us that we will be charged a liquidated damage of about $38k It was hard on me and my wife. Giving away that much money was very emotional. You really don't play around with that kind of money. That builder wanted everything. The sales team and upper management didn't felt any remorse for us. It was pure business. It was a sense of relief for us. He stood in the battle grounds. Honestly, we put him to work. We went ahead and purchased the original home. It felt like we weren't part of the process. I haven't even started and have already run out of superlatives to describe Shaun Alston's proficiency in what he does best...WOW his customer by getting the best results possible and within budget!! Let's start with his experience. Shaun's experience as a former builder equipped him to isolate flaws in the design of properties I was "initially" interested in; for example a property which looked fine aesthetically but design-wise created an unavoidable noise and potential odor problem that wasn't easily reconcilable unless the entire garage was relocated (not something most laypersons would pay much attention to until after-the-fact). Shaun's experience as a skilled negotiator saved many anxious moments when the Purchase Contract hung in the balance due to foot dragging by third parties and unexpected and unforeseen delays. During these moments Shaun was able to negotiate "time-sensitive" extensions which prevented the deal from falling apart. Equally important, Shaun's soft skills, including being honest, responsive, patient, humorous and understanding of what would work and what would not during negotiations, made me laugh at myself more than once!
