This was the chicken and lamb shawarma. AFTER I had already eaten. There is enough for another lunch and dinner here.

The food is excellent and the service is quick. There is just too much food. You might think it is expensive but it isn't because there is enough food for days. Just delicious too!!!!

We felt the hot dogs were rubbery in texture, and they tasted like they were reheated. The matzoh ball soup was bland. My mother enjoyed her pastrami sandwich. As far as atmosphere goes, the first table we sat at was wobbly. and when we transfered to the other, we found the table and season shakers to be sticky. The greatest disappointment was not the mediocre food, or the sticky table but what we witnessed. An elderly couple was sitting at the other table. The gentleman asked a server, possibly the owner or manager, for a glass of tap water. The response from the server was, "We don't have glasses of water here, but you can buy a bottle and I'll bring your two cups." We found this to be uncourteous and unwelcoming, and we felt a little embarassed for the nice couple. It seems that when a nice couple comes in to patronize your restaurant, and purchase a lunch, a little water would not be an unreasonable request. Any restaurant that treats elderly people this way will not receive my future business.

I was visiting clients downstate, and I brought along my 14-year-old daughter for company. I was in…read morethe mood for a kosher meal. I did not have any idea where to go, so I looked to Yelp and found Kosher Castle. I was shocked by the outside of the building. It looked like an abandoned former Burger King. I did not think there was an active business inside. There was no signage indicating where the entrance was. The entire building was filthy when we finally figured out how to get inside it matched the outside of the building. It was not clean. There is no one there to greet you except for several unhappy workers behind the counter, who process the order. It turns out, it was a former Burger King! Whoever moved into this building didn't do one thing to improve its appearance. It was horrible and dirty. You could still see the Burger King decals on the windows. Like a fast food restaurant, there are several interactive stations where you order your food, and pay. The graphics, the selection, and the ease of ordering, brightened my outlook. There were dozens of choices. The accompanying photos and descriptions were extremely helpful. I ordered a Thursday night special, which was a pastrami sandwich on a baguette, with pickles and coleslaw, accompanied by a portion of Cholent. I also ordered as a side, some Kishka with gravy. My daughter did not feel well and did not want to eat anything. We were given a number on the receipt and we sat on the side. There was only one table of about eight sisters, and a couple of gentlemen who were seated at separate tables. The presentation was exactly like that of a fast food restaurant. Everything was in plastic containers, which were marked clearly, as to contents. It was a fair pastrami sandwich. Slightly greasy from the microwave oven they used to heat it up. There was not a lot of pastrami. I thought the coleslaw was delicious and the pickles were good. The Cholent was the best I've ever eaten. I was surprised by the quality of the food. It came out relatively fast, but again this is a fast food restaurant. I would go back there to eat if I had to, and nothing else was open, because of the food quality, and the huge variety of choices. I did not think the pricing was outrageous at all. $19 for the special and $5 for the Kishka. But the building on the outside is an embarrassment. The inside is not much better. The staffs behavior was odd. No one was particularly helpful, and no one looked happy at all. There was some thing off. As we were leaving a young man in a Yarmulke came in,and was talking to the "Manager". I couldn't help but overhear. There was an issue about "Dinero" so maybe that's why people were unhappy. They weren't getting paid. Either way, I didn't need to hear it, however it helped explain the disregard for the appearance of the restaurant, as well as the staff, and the customers. I wouldn't go back there unless I absolutely had to.

Food is greasy and nasty tasting. Places are wreck. Dirty sloppy. Unclean. Avoid like the plague.read more

It's a very nice looking place, great decor with parking in the front and to the side. I had a steak which I ordered medium well, along with a beef type dish as part the course meal. We were a very large crowd so it took some times to get some items. The staff were friendly and I enjoyed the service. I would go again.

My husband and I are not kosher keepers but we have family that are so we met them here for dinner…read morerecently. The food was really good, we went with a bunch of appetizers because there were so many that looked great and we were not disappointed (and even left with some leftovers!) My favorites were the liver and the Jerusalem grill. I'm picky about liver, I usually don't like it but it was excellent and not to be missed. Dessert was excellent too. The pistachio creme brulee was so good and not too sweet and my husband enjoyed the chocolate mousse dish (I can't remember what it was called.) the drinks were delicious too. Creative cocktails which were not too strong or too weak, with great flavor combos (one came in this cute tiki cup.) Service was really friendly and efficient and the place was well decorated and super clean. I was honestly really impressed and enjoyed it more than many non kosher steakhouses (though to be fair I never eat steak so I can't vouch for those at any steakhouse.) We will definitely be back with or without our kosher family members!!!
