This review is for tables the korean bbq. While the staff and space are very nice and food excellent, There needs to be a restructuring Of how your menu works. You have a-lot of wasted food... it shouldn't be all you can eat but with a set price that includes a tray of each meats, chicken ,soup ingredients with enough for as many people at the table and if they want more they would pay for it.. There was not enough of each to go around for 4 people. 3eggs, not enough ingredients for the soup for 4 people, only 2 pieces of some meat. when we asked for more meat they brought an entire new meat board which we didnt use so it wasted. I'm writing this review for anyone considering applying here, so you don't end up going through what I did. I want to share my experience with the hiring process at Fireside Kosher. I came in for an interview, and during that interview, the person in charge told me to come in on a specific day to work so he could "see how I operate in the kitchen." He specifically said I didn't need to clock in for that day. I showed up as instructed, worked for about half a shift, and did everything asked of me. During the interview, I had already been upfront that I currently work another job, and that if he decided to hire me, I wanted to give my other job a proper two-week notice out of respect. He said that was completely fine. After finishing the half-shift, he told me to contact him the next morning. I reached out, and got no response. I followed up two more times, still no reply. No courtesy, no "we're going in another direction," nothing. At this point it's clear he had no intention of hiring me, and he essentially had me work for free. That's unprofessional and disrespectful. Regardless of the outcome, communication and basic courtesy go a long way, and I didn't receive either here. read more

This is my favorite restaurant out there. The ambiance is next level, the food is out of this world, and the service is impeccable!

What makes Fireside stand out head and shoulders passed their competition is their excellent quality and consistency. From their host staff, wait staff to their bussing staff and extended to their kitchen staff, I've not had one visit where something was truly amiss here. And the food is always freaking spot on. I've seriously not had any of the menu staples  under seasoned nor over seasoned nor not prepared the way it should be. Chef Alexander is very open to suggestions to improve a dish, however like anyone, constructive criticism vs. a plain ole negative comeback goes a long way here too, and usually those suggestions are geared towards a featured special and not their dedicated menu. I jest that it's a trek and a half for me to get here, but the car ride is so well worth the prize of indulging here. Tonight was no different. Last minute impromtu meet up with some fabulous friends looking forward to a night of amazing fun and food and Fireside was ready for us. Ordered their soup du jour, a creamy mushroom soup that was so light yet packed with so much flavor and seasoned perfectly. Was a tad disappointed that their Hawaiian pizza is only seasonal but none the less their meat pizza still hit the spot both thin crusted and deep dished. Gnocchi was perfectly tender and even had some dining with me this night who had never had sweetbreads before and thoroughly enjoy them here this night. The shoestring onions are addictive as is the duck fingers are always on point. Burger with facon and all the fixins was giant and juicy. And my one Canadian guest of the night gave 2 thumbs up for the delicious gravy fries. And who can resist the "all in" dessert to cap the night off properly also. Don't know what the secret is to the solid consistency aspect of everything at Fireside but wish it was a standard across the board for all establishments of its caliber. Fabulous variety of kosher upscale appetizers, entrees and desserts! Even the "surprise" birthday cake was large enough for the whole table to enjoy! It was truly a "work of art"! Delicious ! Until today, I would've scoffed at you if you told me that you can get fine dining in Monsey. Today everything changed. I went to Fireside Kosher for a family member's significant number birthday dinner. I was really impressed. To start we ordered a bunch of appetizers: Chicken Caesar salad: this was one of the less impressive dishes. The Caesar salad consisted of bagged type iceberg lettuce mix. The cashew Parmesan dressing did not really stand out. However the chicken was incredible. We then tried the pulled beef nachos. They were excellent. Crispy house made tortilla chips served around pulled beef, guacamole, garlic aïoli, and salsa. We also tried Both the honey chipotle and the blueberry glazed wings. Both of them were delicious and well seasoned without being too greasy. The blueberry sauce complrmented the flavors nicely. I had read great things about the beer battered Duck fingers but we opted for the pan seared duck fingers instead. The texture was fantastic, the sauce was perfect. We ended up ordering a second dish of this. Sweet potato gnocchi: served with pulled short rib, spinach, onion, mushroom this was one of the best appetizers on the menu. Very well flavored, and excellent blend of textures. Highly recommend. My brother also tried the beef spareribs and said it was delicious. We had read a lot about the meat pizza and ordered one of these. This was not one of the best dishes. The beef on top of the pizza was tasty but dry, the crust was kind of dry as well. Most of this pizza was left over. My sister ordered the chicken salad Sloatsburg. It was very well presented and she enjoyed it a lot. For entrée I ordered the 20 ounce bone in Ribeye steak. This was absolutely outstanding. It was prepared exactly the way I wanted: medium well with a lovely char at the edges. It was served with a delicious brown shallot dipping sauce, and a creative purple slaw with pumpkin seeds. I opted for the mashed potatoes which was served with crispy onion on top. A totally delectable dish. My brother had the 30 day aged crusted rib eye which he enjoyed immensely. Someone at the table also ordered the Balsamic Caramel chicken which she enjoyed as well. For dessert we tried the waffles which were served with a passion fruit sauce and delicious passionfruit ice cream. We also tried a Napoleon type dish. It looked nice but the waffles were much better. Overall the food was outstanding and the service was really wonderful. Located in a shopping mall, which is not a big deal. We arrived early when they just open. They seated us and of course there was no one there but then after we all sat down the waitress tells us that we can't stay at this table after 7:30 because it's reserved for a simcha. WE HAD A RESERVATION AND THE RESTAURANT WAS LITERALLY EMPTY SINCE WE WERE THE FIRST THERE. They could have sat us anywhere. The staff was playing with the lights for what seemed like a good 5 minutes while we were seated. The place was nothing special and looked like an average underwhelming restaurant. I came here with 3 family members and my partner. There was already a bottle of water on the table but we had to ask for cups and when the water was empty we had to ask for more and waited a while to get it. I ordered the 30 day age crusted ribeye to share with my boyfriend, which the waitress recommended and said was amazing. When it arrived it was a rather small piece of steak that was pretty rare (we ordered it medium) and not nearly as flavorful as it should have been (tasted like a regular underwhelming piece of steak). There was no sauce or anything to go with it. The side that came with it was cut up potatoes (farthest thing from truffle potatoes) and cherry tomatoes!!!! Someone please explain how cherry tomatoes just added to the plate make for a "seasonal harvest?!?! It looked as bad as it tasted. Potatoes were dry and tasteless. I didn't bother trying the tomatoes because well who in the world puts cherry tomatoes (no not cooked or seasoned) in with potatoes as a side?!?!? For an $86 dish this was beyond embarrassing. We came for a special occasion and I didn't want to say anything because I was just too embarrassed. Shame on this place for even serving something so bad and charging so much for it. The service wasn't anything special and when they came to take the plates away my boyfriend and I were still eating so I said we were not finished (my family finished before we did and they took their plates immediately even though we weren't done). The person gave me such a dirty look, my family even joked about how "rude" it was to tell them we were not done since they were very nasty about it. (Btw we stayed for less than an hour so this had nothing to do with rushing us out, although we're we're definitely rushed). Overall, this was not a nice experience, food was not good at all and it's way overpriced. Shopping at Evergreen, I decided why not try the place. It turned out to be one of the best kosher meals I've ever had in my life! Highly recommend the onion rings with duck fingers. I went to the restaurant last night with a group of fifteen people . The service was extremely slow , It took over a hour and fifteen minutes for us to get our food. The waiter / manager had some excuse...... he seemed to call the shots without consulting with us . The food is way over priced. Excellent meal. Had a reservation for 5. Table was ready when we arrived. One very positive point, was that our server told us that he tried everything on the menu so we should feel free to ask for his input. We started with pulled brisket nachos. We all liked them. My son and I each had the burger. Cooked to a perfect medium. My daughters shared a ribeye which was also cooked to a perfect medium. My wife likes her steak well done, and is was cooked just that way without being dried out. By the way, my son has a nut allergy, and our server was very careful to tell us to stay away from certain things not only because they contain nuts, but also because they were made in a station that was next to other items that contain nuts. We walked in for a late lunch no one was at the counter. We wanted to order steak but that's not available for lunch. I ordered sweet breads - see my photo of the garnishing they put to distract me from the fact I got 5 nibblettes on my plate. Caesar salad came with pan seared chicken but looked like it had that herb bread coating. We sent it back asking for grilled chicken. We got charcoaled chicken, overdone. Not enough chips with our salsa. Yeah and the lovely tea light on our table must have been used because it was out in under 30 minutes. Business ain't booming if they are scrimping on tea lights! The food was very good. The star of the whole meal was definitely the Meat pizza. I ordered it with the thin crust and was not disappointed. Also had the Gnocchi and Nachos, which while good it was a shame the main ingredients were not showcased in the plating of the dish. The pulled beef in the nachos was served cold under a bed of salsa and guacamole and the Gnocchi were few and hidden under a bed of frisee. Overall, I will definitely be back to try more dishes off the menu and may even revisit the Meat pizza: It was that good! read more

I'm genuinely puzzled as to why people recommend this place. Chickie's fast food is in the same mall, and you'll get a better meal there. I also highly recommend the takeout from Evergreen. You won't regret it, and you won't regret skipping this place. We were seated upstairs, where the decor was decidenedly industrial meh. Which matched the service. The waiter was friendly, but always running away to do something else. In fact, he took drink orders from half the table, then said he wanted to put in the food orders, he'd be back later to take the other drink orders. Appetizers ran hot and cold. The onion rings were, in a word, fabulous, maybe the best I've ever had. Our friends had the duck fingers, which they said were excellent. Pulled beef nachos and fries were merely adequate. I had the steak special, which was fine except it arrived only lukewarm and a bit over cooked. It was served with sweet potato purée which can only be described as overly sweet baby food. A companion ordered the same, but hers arrived underdone. (The waiter denied it was underdone, and walked away. It took us several minutes to locate him and ask that the steak be cooked further, which was done, and the steak was then fine.). Another ordered a hamburger, which he claimed was oddly spiced and inedible. (I note that he had asked the waiter to recommend a burger that was not overly spicy, and was told this would meet his needs.). A third ordered a steak which arrived in an overly sweet sauce which was also inedible. It was clear that several people were not eating, but the waiter never asked if there was an issue, or offered assistance. Finally, one companion informed the waiter that the steak was awful, but was ignored. After being told a second time, the waiter did inform the manager, who offered my companion a $50 gift card, but no discount on the inedible meal. I hate to harp on the restrooms, but they were also odd. They were tiny and did not have a ceiling, so piping and flashing lights were visible. They were also quite dark. Worst, THERE WAS NO SINK. NONE. ZERO. You had to wash at the wash station set up for netiliat yadayim (ritual hand washing for bread) at the entry to the dining hall. Not what I expect when I'm dropping $75 on a meal. We're not a difficult group to please. We dine out often, and like most placed. We were really looking forward to dining at Fireside, given the hype. But that's all it is. This is my second review of this restaurant. I just got home from a superb dinner at Fireside, I have to say they outdid themselves. We had the evening's special for a starter - Breaded fried veal sweetbreads w/ a celery and ?? risotto. The flavors were unique and delicious, worth the trip just for that, but there was more. For the main, we ordered the Cowboy steak, and I conveyed to my server that the last time, I ordered it medium rare and it was a little more "fleshy red" in the middle than I expected. She said to order it medium, and it would be pink in the center. Well, this is where good staff is important, as she must have conveyed my concern to the chef, - we got a steak exactly as we wanted - good crust, not dry, pink center with just the right amount of red. The red wine reduction it came with, made an excellent steak even better. I also think their Cowboy Steak got a little bigger - 72 oz.! Moved here in 1990...it took a touch under a quarter of a century, but we FINALLY got a place that makes shlepping to Teaneck or even NYC...wholly unnecessary...unless you prefer shlepping more and spending more to experience pretty much the same level of ambiance and the same (or better) level of dining as Ny's "better" kosher establishments...actually,(and star trek teleporters aside), the quickest way from Monsey to a seriously upscale yet still welcoming NY restaurant...is by walking through this restaurant's doors...why? Because from the moment u walk in, you're instantly transported into place with a serious downtown vibe...the style has substance without being pretentious...the service is responsive without being cloying or making you feel like they're hovering (which they aren't)...the food is seriously impressive as well...no small feat when you realize most restaurants these days only care about making sure words like "steak" and "beef" are always preceded by the word "aged"...here its clear every item matters...the appetizers...the sides...nothing is just "there"...instead every menu item feels like it's been curated for the occasion...the veal I ordered was soft without losing texture tasting like a handicapped steak(a reference that i feel describes 93% of every veal roast, chop and burger ive ever had) their chefs get veal right because they clearly are prepped in how,to properly prep veal for consumption...same with my wife's steak...finally a place that understands,medium rare isn't an "either or" proposition but that elusive sweet spot in-between, where the exterior char actually stops at the exterior without taking the inside with it, in short, great service...great ambiance...great food and presentation...all without forcing you to make the trek from 845 to 212 or 201...and all it took for us to finally get it, was 25 years. read more

To preface my review I'd like to start by saying that I would never want this or any other restaurant to fail. The only reason I write this review is to critique and help others know what to expect. I have never owned a restaurant nor do I know the first thing about running one. Just a couple quick tips - This restaurant is not an $11-30 place. The cheapest item on the menu is a $13 starter and that's before tax 8%, gratuity 18%. you will not walk out of here spending less than $120 guaranteed. The servers are friendly, the receptionist is not. The portions are small and the food I ordered was not worth the large price tag. So I came here tonight (Thursday night) on a date. Walking in it looks very modern and chic and the ambiance is on point for the crowd they are targeting and I was excited to see what kind of service and food I would receive. Now to eat here you have to book in advance, I'm sure that is an arrangement made with Saturday or Sunday nights in mind because there were multiple open tables, along with the upper floor being closed off. What you hope being so empty means is that you get excellent service, the service was just OK. The receptionist showed us to a table placed menus down and promptly walked away. No pulling out chairs or introductory remarks. My date and I sat down and started talking, after about 10 mins of talking I make a comment about how thirsty I am and how I would like to order a drink. My date points out that the other tables seem to have bottles of water. 5 minutes pass and our waiter comes over with water, then walks away. 2 minutes later he comes back to discuss the house specials and our choices. For a starter I ordered a house special mushroom dish with sauce and beer battered chicken fingers. My date ordered a sweetbread. The $19 sweetbread arrived first on a very large plate with very little food. It was an assortment of organs (pancreas, liver, perhaps stomach etc.) which were beautifully arranged with sauces and relish. I did not try the dish because my date would literally have gotten 3 bites to eat if I took 1. The next thing to arrive were the mushrooms. The mushrooms tasted burnt, deep-fried, as if they were marinated in plain oil, spiceless, tasteless. The sauce that went along with them was incredibly spicy and completely inedible. My date tried one of the mushrooms and immediately spit it out. A minute after the mushrooms came out my chicken fingers came out. As Dj C says there are multiple dipping sauces, not many chicken fingers, but lots of sauce options. The sauces were actually a help to finishing off my mushrooms, which I would have felt terrible about throwing out. The chicken fingers were perfectly cooked which was a happy surprise, but just like the mushrooms they were completely tasteless. Without sauces they would have been simply cooked chicken. The rest of the food we ordered (mushroom chicken and a burger) followed the same pattern. Pathetically after we placed the order for our entrees our waiter came out to ask my date if she wanted the fried onion on her burger since onion would cost $2 more. anyhow the chicken was cooked perfectly but tasted like canola oil and the burger was done perfectly but also very lacking in taste. My date and I were ready to walk out at this point and head over to Mandirin, but she felt bad about wasting money. So we talked and nibbled at our food till we felt ready to leave. The bill though probably had me the most upset. I put my card in the holder and send the order total/bill back with the waiter who returns shortly with a second receipt this one with a gratuity and tip line. I'm about to write a tip but happen to glance at my first receipt where I see in small lettering under the order total there is the 18% tip added. Overall my feelings towards this restaurant can be very biased due to the items I ordered and the prices I paid, but I do not see myself coming back here when there are so many good restaurants where I can go instead.
