Where to start, I believe my dog could make better food than this. We ordered spanakopita and saganoki. The waiter did not light the cheese. She attempted but failed, so alcohol was sitting on our cheese and it was very cold and not melted along with the fact that there was no pita wi to it. The spanakopita came with no tzatziki. Full disclosure: DoorDash order for my work group. Two, this experience for me was more like a 3.5, but parts of my order were good, and everyone else was happy with their meal, so I rounded up. My coworker really liked his salmon and rice, which I thought was a little pricey at 30 dollars. Another coworker got the kavos souvlaki with onions and tomatoes. Yet another got a chicken stick and the fish sandwich. All of them liked their order. I also got the chicken stick, which I liked, as well as the lemon potatoes. But things went wrong with the veggie stick. What I thought was going to be light and grilled was absolutely inundated with oil, to the point it soaked through the box and the bag. It was so oily it was inedible. This place has a big menu with all the Greek staples: gyros, fish, kebabs, lamb, spinach pies, and more. I would try it again, but NOT the veggie stick platter. My dasher was fast, but had to wait a long while for the meal to be prepared. In their defense, it was an order for five. read more

So delicious you'll want more! Shared several appetizers since everything sounded so good and everything we had was delicious! The server was so sweet and pleasant. The owner came over to say hello and ensure everything was to our liking. We ended our meal with baklava which was just a bit too sweet but delightful with a great cup of coffee. My friends and I went here for dinner before an event. At first, we were told we'd have to wait 15 mins because they had one table available but were waiting to see if the people who had made a reservation would show up. When one of my friends suggested we try the Thai place across the street because we wanted to make sure we got to the event on time, we were promptly seated. (I guess they figured they'd held the table for the no-shows long enough.) Kavos is a great place for casual dining and the food is terrific. The moussaka was huge, delicious, and filling, served with a large salad (greens and feta). One of my friends enjoyed the pastichio while the other had the lamb shanks. Kavos' menu is extensive, ranging from traditional Greek dishes to seafood, salads, and various gyro sandwiches and street foods. A wide selection of hot and cold appetizers too. Even Greek frittatas and kebobs! There are also burgers, various chicken sandwiches, and wraps, as well as desserts and a kid's menu. You really can't go wrong at Kavos. This has been one of my favorite meals in a long time! I wish I lived closer! My family and I ate here when we were passing through Nyack and it's a hidden gem! Everything was delicious! The cold appetizer was honestly super salty and I felt like they didn't give me enough pita bread to finish my dip. Fantastic Greek Food and a very simple setting with a large and varied menu right on the main drag in Nyack. I have eaten here twice and did take out once and each time was pleasantly surprised! The service is fast and efficient and the food comes out super quick which is nice. Twice I got their quinoa salad which is very tasty and fresh and once I got one of their fresh fish which was delicious and came with some great sides and their flavors are always on point. The quality of their food is always top notch and everyone I talk to in the area always says the same about Kavos Grill. They have a nice outdoor seating area as well which is great to people watch on a nice evening. Their pita is yummy too and comes with many of the dishes. The best part is they are fairly priced unlike other Greek Places which are SUPER expensive! I look forward to returning either for sit-down or take out whenever I am in the area. read more

My huband ordered a gyro. I order d the assorted dips. We used to live im Astoria so we know good greek. This is NOT it. I got my dips, they were all pretty vile. I didnt eat the dish and it was obvious. 25 min after our food came the waitress finally came to check on us. Saw our plates. Ine was cleaned empty, one was full. She asked if i wanted it boxed. I said, "i should have gotten the pastichio, this was terrible". My husband said to wrap it (bc he was paying over $20 for it). They threw all the dips AND the pita in one box so now all thw pita are wet and soggy. Not that it was going to get eaten anyway. I stopped into Kavos Grill to get takeout for a large family gathering the other night, as the restaurant had been recommended by a trustworthy, foodie friend. I had to rattle off a long list of menu items for the order, but the woman at the counter was extremely patient and friendly. The food took about 20 minutes to prepare, so we stepped out for a few and then came back to claim it. When we returned, I saw the diligent counter clerk pack the food into a large bag, making sure each item on the check was included. You never know if you will receive all of your items when you get food to-go, but she had the process down to a science. Our group decided to share a few starters, including the Eggplant Spring Rolls and the Melitzanosalata dip, and the duo turned out to be a good amount of eggplant, but both were very flavorful. Plus, the spring rolls were not heavily fried, which I appreciated. Each of us then had our own main courses, and I opted for the Grilled Chicken Kebab (aka "Stick" there) Platter. The chicken chunks were on the larger side, which might have been why I found some bites a little chewy. The poultry was very well-seasoned, however. Since I ordered the platter, I also received a side salad and my choice of either rice, fries, or lemon potatoes. The Corfu salad included romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta, and an herbaceous infusion of scallion and dill. It was also supposed to contain olives, though there were none in my portion. For my starch, I selected the rice, which was buttery and flavorful. I should also mention that our order included several cups of amazing tzatziki sauce, which was rich, creamy, and delicious. I used some for my chicken, on my salad, and even on some of the rice. Overall, I was pleased with my meal from Kavos Grill and would gladly return. read more

Cute little place on the corner of Main and Park St. In Nyack. The food is always super fresh - made to order. We usually get take out and you really cannot go wrong here. My favorite ate the platters that come with a salad , and choices of rice, fries or lemon potatoes. Lots of selections here: falafel, lamb, chicken, shrimp, pork or veggie. They have a magical dressing on their Greek salad with nice chunks of feta, cucumber & tomatoes. And again it is always fresh. I've tried the moussaka and it is enough for two- creamy & delectable. We stumbled upon this place while at the Nyack street fair. Food looked so good when we got it, we forgot to take pictures & just started eating, I got the mixed seafood grill, which had a nice size piece of grilled octopus, grilled shrimp & grilled calamari over a salad. My husband got the falafel plater which had 5 large falafel, spinach pie, hummus & came with a separate salad. For desert we shared the Greek yogurt with honey & walnuts. For some reason it tastes better and more complex on some days more than others, but it's still a solidly delicious dish. Family and here came, we got sat right away. We started off with some appetizers calamari, spicy feta and roasted eggplant dip. Calamari was not my favorite it was not crispy enough. The roasted eggplant dip tasted fishy. Spicy feta was good. For the kids we ordered a spaghetti meat sauce and a burger. The toddler did not like the pasta at all, I tried it and it was very oily and not good sorry. I ordered a quinoa salad with lamb stick, salad was good but lamb was hard and chewy. My mom ordered the Greek salad this was great. Father order the turkey burger he didn't like it. Overall the food needs improvement, service was great our waitress was very attentive. We keep giving this place another try, after hearing good things from a neighbor. Maybe the rest of the menu is more appealing, but the salads just aren't as full, fresh, or delicious as Opa in Warwick. Instead of big chunks of feta, it was crumbly and oily. The chicken was dry and blah. My husband enjoyed his greek salad better than I did my Corfu salad., and his feta cheese did look better. I wouldn't mind paying these prices if the food was great, but it's just not. This was our third attempt. read more
