Shawarma Mia in Brooklyn might literally be my favorite spot in New York City. I used to live in Dubai, and I've traveled to Turkey, so I know good shawarma, and this was so fresh and flavorful. You can taste all the seasonings, and you can tell the meat and ingredients are fresh. I got the chicken bowl with yellow rice, cucumbers, tomatoes, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, beets, and cabbage. It was easily one of the best bowls I've had in New York City and definitely competes with the food I used to eat while living in Dubai. I'll absolutely be back. read more

The other night after I left my gym, I wanted something healthy and saw this restaurant a few blocks away. I ordered a lamb and beef shawarma and it was amazing! I came back tonight and got a baby chicken kebab bowl, and added various kinds of tomatoes and cucumbers, and taziki sauce. Again, amazing! I also tried their baklava, which was wonderful! Usually I'm a huge fan of Shwarma Mia, last time I got it a few months ago it was mid. This time it was straight disappointing. I ordered a bowl for the first time, the cabbage had a weird flavor and I wasn't a fan of the spicy carrots. The pickles had a waxy texture. The chummus that I usually love so much tasted different and not nearly as good as past times. The first few bites were good but once my deep hunger waned I was left with a lackluster plate. Absolutely fantastic. I haven't had a shawarma spot this legit and this good in a long time. Food was very fresh and flavorful. The chicken shawarma laffa I got was packed with meat. Their falafel is made fresh to order, so it's not sitting out and stale like most places. We got to chat with the owner for a bit and he's a really nice guy, been in the business for a while. Message to the owner/management: This is delicious food. However, in June 2026, the larger portion was smaller than the small portion of Jan 2026. Please be aware that this will cause customers to leave. It's possible that one of the workers quietly scooped some onto a secret plate behind the counter after displaying a fuller sandwich behind the glass. Please look into this. This is a Chipotle style shawerma place. I loved it! It was quite crowded on a Thursday evening at 7pm... so it took a while to order. There were 3 guys behind the counter and one was only working on online orders. You order the meat, the wrapper/ base, the toppings, and the sauces. The portions are large, which accounts for the price. I ordered the beef and lamb shawema on flat bread. The meat is good, dare I say better than most gyros in fast food places. The bread portion was thin pita. They have about 10 topping options, a variety of salads mostly, all that i tried were good. The hot sauce is not spicy at all, but still tasty, the tahini was too watered down. The fries tasted like the oil was old... Definitely a place to go to for a yummy bite. read more

I love Turkish food so I had high expectations for this place. My expectations were met. Granted, I received this food through delivery. Regardless, it hit the spot!!!! Everything was seasoned so well and the proportions were tailored to my liking. Right amount of chicken, rice, and toppings to evenly spread out my bites (if you know what I mean). I got the chicken shawarma bowl... the chicken is so tender, soft, and juicy. For me, I love how there is more meat than rice in the bowls. I really love how generous they are with the toppings. The baba ghanoush is the right texture, it's smoky, it's tasty, it's addicting. I love their pickles! They are crispy and tangy. And they give so much of it too. The spicy carrots and cabbage are also spot on. Honestly, the serving is so big that I'm able to save half of it for later. I've only gone into the place once and it is small (definitely just a takeout spot) and still very new inside with 2-3 spots to sit at for dining in. I absolutely love this place and talk it up to whoever asks me where to eat in Prospect Heights for a quick lunch. My wife went with the lamb and beef shawarma wrap paired with baba ghanoush and hummus, while I chose a hearty bowl packed with veal, white rice, lettuce, olives, pickles, cucumbers, carrots, eggplant matbucha, Turkish peppers, tomatoes, and a kick of red harissa hot sauce. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! Initially, my wife thought she could only manage half of her wrap, but by the time we finished eating, she had polished off the entire thing--a true testament to how incredible the food was. Compliments to the chef! As we enjoyed our meal, I had a wonderful conversation with John about his heritage, which added a personal and memorable touch to the experience. Before leaving, we ordered some chicken wings to go. I shared them with my daughter later, and she couldn't get enough of them--she kept asking for more! Wonderful! Fast service with plenty of choices. All the options are listed on the menu for different toppings you can add, but they happily explain each to you and warn about spicy items so you can easily customize your meal without needing to do a ton of research, guessing, or pointing vaguely and asking. Some mains (including the adana kebab I had) take a few extra minutes to heat up, but they'll warn you about this while you're ordering. Amazing service that makes it easy to order something delicious compared to other build-your-own restaurants like it. The food itself was delicious and reminded me somewhat of Zooba though with a different and less prominent set of spices (not in a bad way at all). I also tried the yogurt drink (ayran) though I didn't love it -- perhaps because I'm used to sweeter yogurt drinks and this one tasted more like natural yogurt -- perhaps you prefer this. Normally, I wouldn't want to reveal how wonderful this place is to anyone else but on our third day ordering the chicken Shawarma bowls I think I have to leave a review. Definitely one of the best babaghanoush's I've had, the pita is soft and fluffy, the chicken is delicious flavorful and plenty full. They fill up your bowl easily enough for two meals. Truly love this place, tastes like you aren't in Brooklyn! Service is great- I do think they need to fix the sauce delivery app. I have tried several times to order from the preferred app, but I am never able to check out. Also, so you know on DoorDash you are not able to add items from different categories without emptying your basket so it's basically impossible to order from there also. read more

The food is so good here, they seriously need more of these locations everywhere. This new concept is a Meditteranean/Turkish style grill, where you build your own bowl, pick your base, add-ins, toppings, sauces etc. They have shawarma, shish kebabs, etc. The staff was very helpful and caring when creating my order. For my first time, I went with what's familiar and tried a variety of the meats. Affordability for their portion sizes are a plus. I got the Shawarma Mixed Grill with beef, lamb and chicken with toppings & sauces of choice. The indoor tables are small, fits about 3 2-tops comfortably. The outdoor sidewalk seating area is a little more spacious with a larger bench table but still not great for groups that wants to sit all together. The parking in the area is awful, there's a police station right across the street and a very busy Flatbush Avenue, so best to park a few blocks away and just walk over. Double parking just to run inside would not be a good option, I learned the harder way. read more

I really want to like this place. I just give up though. It seems like every time I order from here, something is messed up. The last order I placed was on Sunday, and a few minutes after placing the order, the delivery guy called me saying they were out of Chicken Shwarma but that they would substitute another menu item for same price- no problem, went with the beef kabob. The order arrived not too much after that, and one of the appetizers was missing. Tried calling over and over- literally they did not answer the phone for the entire day on Sunday so I got screwed out of the app I paid for but never got. On top of that, my wife was in the bathroom multiple times from the beef kabobs. Its a shame because when they manage to get it right, their food is good but its always a coin toss. We've ordered at least 2 other times in the past and had items missing from the order. It shouldn't be that hard to get this right but apparently maybe it is. For such a small establishment, I'm impressed at how they manage to keep prices very reasonable. Flavor: 9/10 Don't know if these guys can do much better when it comes to this. The meats are sliced fresh off the shawarma (the spinning meat) while roasting, so naturally it's always juicy and hot. They also give you a great amount of it, which is why I will eat at this joint anytime over Chipotle (which I keep referencing because I assume most are familiar with the burrito bowl portions). All the other ingredients and sauce in the bowl are stunningly fresh; while eating inside I saw fresh bags of produce being brought to the kitchen to prepare. Really gave me a good feeling about what I was eating. The bowl is very filling, and leaves you feeling healthy and refreshed. Service: 9/10 The workers are really welcoming, and were happy to take my order and even let me use the employee only bathroom in the kitchen after I ordered. The only critique I have is I wish they labeled, or made it clearer what each bowl ingredient was and tasted like. Even after visiting multiple times, the only way I know how to respond when they ask me what else I want in the bowl besides the meat is "I'll take everything." This place just happened to be right in the vicinity of where I was staying and I'm all the better for it! It's a quaint little corner shop with smells that can leave you with wonders. You get three options to pick from; pita, wrap, or bowl. I went with the wrap! The person behind the counter was helpful and even suggested a couple things for me to add in. This is the best bowl place in brooklyn (take it from someone who eats a lot of bowls). This place has tastier chicken shawarma than Berliner Doner Kebab, a wider selection of sides, and better prices. I used to think Taim and Cava were pretty much neck and neck for the best bowls in the neighborhood, but this is my new runaway favorite. I normally don't leave reviews like this, but I had a really concerning experience. I bit into a piece of raw chicken at this restaurant--fully raw in the center, not just slightly undercooked. When I brought it to the staff's attention, they brushed it off like it was no big deal and accused me of lying--until I brought the dish out and showed them the raw chicken myself. This wasn't just a kitchen mistake--it was a serious food safety issue, and the lack of accountability made it worse. Serving raw chicken puts customers at risk, and responding with denial instead of concern is unacceptable. I wasn't looking for anything, just hoping to alert the team and receive a basic apology. Instead, I was met with defensiveness and indifference. I won't be returning, and I hope no one else has to find out the hard way that this place doesn't take health and safety seriously. Highly recommend for delivery or pickup (their seating space seems smaller, but there are always tables). The value is unbeatable - I can usually split a bowl into two meals.
