I've gotten my hair done in these pricey, high end salans in NYC, LA, and D.C. because I move around a lot, but nothing has come close to Jennifer's talent. Besides all of that, Luxx is very involved in the community which I absolutely adore. I specifically requested only a slight A-line so the front would still be long enough to pull back for school. During the haircut, it became clear that Maddie was having difficulty getting the cut even. Lacey eventually had to step in and help correct and finish the haircut. It was only after this happened that I learned Maddie was still in training and very new. Everyone has to start somewhere, and I understand that. However, I believe I should have been told when I made the appointment that Maddie was still in training. As a customer, I should have been given the choice of whether I wanted a trainee stylist or a more experienced stylist for my granddaughter's haircut. As Maddie struggled to get the haircut even, she stated that my granddaughter had been moving around, which she offered as an explanation for why she was having difficulty getting the hairline even. I was watching the entire haircut closely, and my granddaughter was sitting exceptionally still for a 6-year-old child. What added to my frustration was that Lacey later stated that she could not achieve the dramatic A-line I had requested. I immediately corrected her and explained that I had never requested a dramatic A-line. I had specifically asked for a slight A-line with enough length in the front to be pulled back for school. When Lacey became involved, I politely expressed concern about the undercut because it did not appear to be cut properly. Instead of simply explaining what she was doing, I was told, "I know how to cut hair, ma'am. I can assure you. I'm trying to get it even." The response came across as defensive and snappy. I was not rude or confrontational. I simply had concerns about the haircut and expected a professional explanation. To be fair, the haircut did improve after Lacey stepped in. However, the finished haircut is still uneven from side to side, and there is a noticeable gap in the back. When I pointed this out, I was told that she could not get it even and could not fix the gap at that time. I was advised to let the hair grow out and come back later so it could be corrected. I was also disappointed that I was still expected to pay full price despite the problems with the haircut and the stylist admitting she could not get it even or fix the gap in the back. No discount or adjustment was offered. I chose not to ask for a refund or make a scene because I did not want to upset my granddaughter. I paid for the service, left politely, and did not leave a tip. We had also planned on booking an appointment for my daughter for a pixie cut and color, but after this experience, I no longer feel comfortable trusting this salon with her hair. My granddaughter left happy, which was what mattered most in that moment. However, between the uneven haircut, the visible gap in the back, the lack of transparency about the stylist's experience level, the defensive response when I expressed concerns, and the fact that no attempt was made to adjust the price despite the acknowledged problems, I will not take a chance again and return. I'm sure there are other stylist who are great! however, I am scared of being disappointed again.

Since the first cut in August from shoulder length to above the collar--was shorter than I've ever worn it and a brand new look/cut for me---it just needed a little tweaking. I wanted my 2 front cow licks to lay right after blow drying & the sides (by my ears) not be so heavy (I showed her) She seemed distracted because I shouldn't feel rushed--and that I don't have her undivided attention---but, I did. The tweak? To "me", my hair looks exactly the same--doesn't flow. I was in and out of salon in 20 min tops. Not sure, I will go back. Sad. I was a bit hesitant because my hair is different from most of the demographic in the area. However, when I called to make my appointment, I asked if any stylist knew how to cut "thin, very curly hair". I was assured that I was @ the right place. Ms. Kylie wore her mask the whole time, so I was not able to see her whole face... but I appreciated that she was following the guidelines! I'm a chemistry teacher @ WBHS so I was completely pooped out when I go there. But Ms. Kylie did an amazing job at keeping me engaged! it was great to talk to someone animated - it was an easy conversation. We had a great conversation about COVID, schools, hair dos & colors, while she cut my hair. Ok, the point: I LOVE the way Ms. Kylie cut my hair! She did an amazing job. I know that she knew I was nervous. Thin, curly hair needs to be cut and treated differently. It you do not cut it correctly, my hair will frizz & I will look like a ball. Additionally my hair is super short so I can't even put it up to hide bad hair cuts. Unfortunately, I've had this problem a few times in other salons; hence the Initial nervousness & hesitance. I am very greatly to have found Ms. Kylie. After my next cut, I will be doing a color again. Most definitely a rating of #5 - EXCELLENT! B/c that is what she was. If you are worried about getting your hair done, don't be! Just make sure to explain what you want, specifically, to the person that picks up the phone @ "On Stage".
