First, I spent some serious time doing research online, and then - as one excellent article I read suggested - I got ready to "go shopping" with a laundry list of carefully prepared questions in hand. However, before I hit the road, I called the various establishments in the area to get a feel for the individual in charge of preplanning. After which I made appointments and met with each of them at their places of business. The final choice, hands down, was/is Quinn McGowen on Willow Woods Drive off Oleander Drive. Definitely the most upfront, professional and fairly priced of all that I investigated ... and as dignified and sensitive as one would want and expect. The professional I worked with is Brenda Cahill who was a absolute delight, especially when discussing such a sensitive matter as this.

We literally had to do nothing. For relatives that could not attend they offered Facebook LIVE streaming allowing anyone who could not attend to view the service. I flew in from San Francisco to watch her die within 48 hours and her husband and my stepsister went to Jones Funeral home the day after she died without telling me even though I was in Jacksonville. They kept her remains and won't give me my 1/3 which was her dieing wish. I contacted the Funeral Director at Jones Funeral Home and asked him to ship my part of her to me. He was rude and told me he gave it to her husband and wasn't getting involved in family drama! If this business was in a city bigger than BFE they would be out of business! Shame in you Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville NC!
