Yesterday i tried the new pickup from Shaws. I ordered my groceries and after doing the check out it said that my groceries would be roughly $113 and a hold would be placed on my bank account to cover my groceries... I totally understand this!!! Like anyone who does a service they want to be paid...no biggie After dinner my roommate had a few more things for me to get so i went in and added them to my groceries. Today I pick up my order and the designated time and came home, put everything away and was actually happy. Everything only totaled $122.26, less than $10 for the extras So out of curiosity about what my bank balance was i went to look and OMG my account is down $235.56 ALL FROM SHAWS My bank has the original $113 on hold plus the total cost of $122.26. I call Saco shaws and speak to Mark who says hes unloading a truck but once hes done he will contact HR and then call me back (smh) I go to the shaws app and start the chat option, i explain to Kimberly that shaws has 2 amounts on hold and thats not acceptable. She assures me that in 3-5 business days my money will be released, don't worry Seriously??? 3-5 business days isn't very reassuring considering its Saturday night and at best my money will be back in my account for Wednesday. For those of us who live paycheck to paycheck could you go 5 days without your money? You just took a good amount of money away from me...thankfully i had extra money in my account because YOUR ERROR could have overdrafted my account and then i would have had 3-5 business days worth of overdraft fees that I would have been paying for....nobody wants overdrafts especially when everything is tight as it is. Oh then Mark calls me back to let me know that my money will be back on my account in a few days... Gee thanks Mark Im on social security, i don't get a extra $300 on unemployment. I have a set amount that has to pay all my bills and then pay for my extras like food, gas, medication. For the next 3-5 business days i won't be getting anything because SHAWS has it on hold to pay for my groceries and then some. As Kimberly said some companies choose to hold $1, some choose to hold the whole amount for the groceries. If you're company branch chooses to hold the whole thing then simply charge whatever the difference is. Had you simply added another $10 to what you already had on hold i wouldn't be here bi***ing about your company Instead id be sitting home relaxing, maybe grabbing dinner out, who knows....but instead im broke until 3-5 business days Shame on you shaws for taking advantage of your customers. You want your money up front for your products, but then you double charge and make your customers wait to get their money back Please don't use shaws pickup option so you don't find yourself in this situation, or worse, you get overdrafts and trust me when I say i doubt Shaws will step up and pay them for you Its always about the big corporations and screw the lowly consumer read more

This update serves two purposes. First, the supermarket is consistently more expensive. And if there's actually a good sale, you have to bring a coupon from their flyer to get the deal. None of the other supermarkets do this and I'm not sure why Shaw's likes to add this level of difficulty. Second, I ought to point out that the farmers market in the parking lot isn't a year round thing but only takes place in spring, summer, and early fall. In my earlier review I forgot to mention that. Shaw's remains my least favorite supermarket in the area, mostly due to their higher prices. read more

Food is always at or past date, everything is too crammed together and overall not even the sales can sell it for me.

This store has improved greatly in the last year or two. Especially the meat department. All of the meat people have been excellent in working with the customer to cut/package fresh meat, explain the cut of meat and some cooking techniques, or find something that is not in the display case. HUGE improvement over the meat personnel from 4-5 years ago. The store weekly sales are great, although sometimes confusing. The store manager has resolved issues and confusion with sale pricing for me more then once. He has always made sure that I left ahead of the game. read more

I keep giving this store another chance. And then remember why I NEVER go here. Main problem is they don't rotate their stock. You have to watch expiration dates on everything. Tons of expired products on the shelf. And not just a month overdue. There were some orange cupcakes I picked up that were on sale. I am not even joking, they were a YEAR OLD!! even when you do buy things that are within the expiration date there seems to always be something wrong with them. Like they aren't stored in proper conditions? I purchased an in date organic peanut butter cup candy bar. The top was all white, the peanut butter looked ancient and hard. I literally bought another one right away at Hannaford (since I had to go there to get things that weren't expired) and it was completely different. Secondly, their food prices are consistently higher than everybody around. Yes, there are a few loss leaders to get you in the store, but generally way more expensive. After many tries, I'm done.. I see many old reviews about the expiration date issue so clearly that is never changing. read more

Love this grocery store. Parking is convenient- you can get spaces close to the door. Getting in and out of the lot is easy. The prices are good. Great selection of healthy options, gluten free, etc. especially like the deli counter selections. read more

I come to this particular Shaw's quite often, it's on my way home from work so it's very convenient. I find that they have good sales and I always find what I need. People that work there are always friendly and engage in conversation if you want. Store is clean which is always a good thing. read more

Often wonder if the heath Dept ever inspects that dump, place is filthy. Half the products on the shelf are expired. Canned goods purchased this past week expired in 2018! Bread expiration dates are the present day, you have to go way underneath to find a good date. Nobody in the store seems to give a damn, very sad used to be a good store. read more

I really like this market. Everything is clean, well lit and organized. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Nice seafood and meat department. Really good produce department. My only complaint would be sometimes I pick things up and they are expired. Today I bought 2 for 1 ham steaks. The first few packages I picked up had an expiration date on the back of June 15th. I kept pulling others until I found two with late August expiration dates. They have added self checkout which I always use. So much quicker than getting in the regular lines as I don't buy very much at once. read more

I have been using the pharmacy for as long as I can remember. Today I go in to get my prescription and was told it would be 15 mins, 45 mins later I ask how much longer and the pharmacist Mary Donatelli, rudely said "Go sit down", I asked again how much longer cuz I have been waiting for 45 mins when I was told 15 and I'm going to be late for work, she then snapped at me and said "come back later".. I am very disappointed in the new staff, I have never been spoken to so rudely. I will be finding another pharmacy and call headquarters.. read more
