One was surrounded by trees and difficult to get to, they did a fantastic job and did not disturb the other trees around it. I was not a customer of Shaw's but they cut down some trees at a neighbor's house two houses away. I was not home at the time and neither were my neighbors. When I returned from a week-long trip I found a wire hanging down onto my driveway which I needed to move in order to get into the garage. Neighbors told me that Shaw's had knocked the line down when they came to work at the neighbor's house the day before. So, I called Shaw's and reported the problem. They told me they were not responsible for the wire because it was not at standard height. They were not willing to help me in any way. So, I had to determine whose wire it was and eventually discovered it was A T & T's. I called them and they send someone out to remove it. I told the A T & T worker what Shaw's had told me and he said the wire was at regulation height and Shaw's just didn't want to deal with it. So, I would be careful if you choose to use this business and if you are an innocent neighbor whose property they happen to impact, be prepared for them to provide no help to repair the damage they caused. read more

The job was done well and correctly. However, it's a bit weird when you go to pay for the service with a check (not very convenient) and when you drive up to the building, you notice multiple political signs and confederate flags on the property. And then when you walk in, you notice the office is basically a shrine to a former president and political candidate. Focus on the trees, not the politics. read more

First time I've used them for trimming the large oak trees in the front yard. Estimate was very thorough and beat the price of other companies by quite a bit and, provided a military discount. I am extremely disappointed in the workmanship and customer service. They basically didn't do the job and tried to cover up for it.

Shaw's came yesterday to trim and remove dead wood from the beautiful live oaks that surround our home. It was a difficult job, as many of the branches hang over our roof and glass solarium. Rowdy and his crew didn't stop for hours as they carefully lowered the branches, and they did a thorough clean up, raking and blowing the roof, walkways and deck of debris and hauling it all away... The price was reasonable; we had estimates from two other companies. I would highly recommend them. read more

This is the second time that I have hired Shaw's Tree Service to do work at my home. The first time I used them was for taking down a big pine tree precariously positioned on the side of my house. They were excellent in their timeliness, professionalism and their tree cutting expertise. This second time (8/16/2021) was not a good experience. I called several times to find out when they would be coming to take down two, much smaller trees. I work nearby and it takes me 5 minutes to get there. I never got a call back. I got home and the lawn was a mess with debris everywhere. Heavy truck tires every where. The trees were near the paved road but they decided to station their gear on the lawn. I called the office and the helpful lady did know why they did not call me prior to showing up. What if they had taken down the wrong trees? This second experience is a complete opposite of what I went through the first time. Be wary! read more

I paid for them to cut and haul everything away. I also paid for them to grind the stumps. I paid for everything and they never did come back to grind the stumps. When I called in about it, the nice receptionist agreed with me that I had grinding the stumps on my agreement. They fired her and got the one that would lie for them. They sent their concocted agreement in the mail that did not have grinding the stumps on it. They also had the wrong advisor on the made up copy they sent to me. Keep in mind, I had the original that confirmed they were lying. Warning....stay away from this company. The only honest one in the company was the stump grinder...unfortunately, he died. A. At a little after noon on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, I was standing on my front porch when a Shaw's Tree Service truck came barreling down the street, swerving, knocking down tree branches, and pulling down cable wires. I had noticed the trucks working two blocks away earlier in the morning. The driver was driving recklessly, swerving and speeding. He did not stop when he pulled the wires down. Several neighbors heard the commotion and came out front to see what had happened. One neighbor stopped a second Shaw's truck, while I got in my car and drove around the block to where the first Shaw's truck had stopped. The driver was incredibly rude. He told me he wasn't speeding and he didn't care about the wires. The driver of the second truck told a neighbor the wires on our street were too low. I called the company. I told the person I spoke with, who said she was a secretary, what had happened. She said I couldn't talk to the owner, because she said he's never there. She asked me for my name and number. I said that, given the behavior of the company's employees, I didn't feel comfortable leaving that information. She hung up on me. I've never seen a truck driven in such a way on a small residential street, the behavior of the employees was mortifying and to have a company representative hang up on me when I called to complain was quite simply astonishing. read more

To start off on the positive, the tree removal service was great. Three trucks showed up with 6 men. They had the tree down and all remnants gone within the hour. The stump grinding was the exact opposite. The first time he came, without informing me he was showing up, he said the roots of the tree stump had too many rocks in it. He wanted to just grind the top. I spent 3 days removing any rocks around the stump, not easy. I asked for him to come back but to inform me first. He didn't call me, he hit my next door neighbors mailbox and left me a pile of stump mulch. I called the main office for two weeks to get the stuff removed. I e-mailed the main company in response to the bill. Days later they responded that they do not pick that stuff up. This is weeks of it killing the grass around the stump. Bottom line, be prepared to do a lot of work yourself. read more

Terrible first impressions. Appointment scheduled between 2-4pm. NO SHOW!!!! Called the office and was told they ran behind and she was about to call and reschedule, It was 4:30pm. The foreman could have notified them earlier. I left work to meet them there and for me to have to call to f/u is just not good customer service. I was going to reschedule, but was told my job was to small to have first appointment. Job may have been small but not a small price. Mi name is Belkis Navarro. I really am very disappointed in this Shaw tree services company, I consider them dishonest opportunists and liars. I allowed 1810 Shelton rd 32211 to enter my property to cut my neighbor's tree at the request of a company boss in which, if I agreed, I would cut free a piece of a tree on my property valued at $ 1100 according to him. When they arrived on August 26, I asked the crew chief what his plan was and he told me the same thing that had been agreed, I left them on my property and what a surprise when I returned from my work there was my branch, they had only cut the twigs small of the same, damaged my fence and took advantage of my credibility at their word. We had planned to call Shaw's UNTIL I saw their truck in front of me, with HUGE flag obstructing my view, weaving into the next lane, and also sporting a highly-offensive political sticker. NO thanks! This is the email I sent Shaw and his highly offensive response to me. Anyone thinking of hiring this awful company should look at this AND the reviews (on Google) of many people who have had experiences with terrible treatment and price gouging through this company! The reason is simple. HUGE American flag flying off the back of the truck -- distracting and likely getting tattered by the wind but no issue since it IS the American flag after all. Go elsewhere! We paid $650 cash to have a tree and stump removed and they didn't remove the entire stump! You can see where they cut an exact circle to remove a stump without even removing what was around it. When I called to tell them that, the receptionist screamed at me and yelled at me and asked me why I had waited so long to tell them. No apology, no offer to fix it. I told her we waited until so long because our grass has died three times over so we finally dug out the actual roots to see the problem. It's not too often that you dig up your front yard, so of course we wouldn't notice right away! And I'm sorry, when someone tells me they're going to do something my mistake for assuming they are actually going to do it. Do not use these people! Lazy and unprofessional crooks. read more

In November 2019, I picked out the queen palm tree that I wanted from Shaw's Tree Farm after Tim rode me around in golf cart. He tagged it & it was delivered the following week, week before Thanksgiving. The crew did an excellent job removing dead queen palm and planting the new palm. They even built braces for the palm & told me to keep them on for about 6 months. A berm was made so as to keep water on the palm base and instructions given to me regarding watering. The old palm tree was hauled away after all cleanup done, even dirt from palm tree in the street! read more

Was scheduled for someone to come out to my house to give an estimate between 8am and 1pm. Nobody showed up, so we called to see what was going on and were then told that they don't service our area. They never bothered to call us to let us know that there had been a mistake and they wouldn't be here. Wasted our time. read more

I got 3 quotes and they were the highest; however, they came by referral and I wanted the best work done. So, I called and got on the calendar to have some branches removed from an oak tree. My request before the estimate was that all limbs would have to be rope lowered to the ground. I was given 30 minutes notice of the arrival and it was after 3:00 with a roof temp of over 115 degrees when dropped the limbs of the trees that are about 4 inches in diameter and 15 inches long directly on to my vent cap. This happened twice before I stopped the crew and they indicated they wouldn't let it happen and I called the company and reported the incident. The integrity of the roof is now compromised because the vent is crushed in right where the rolled roofing meets the cap and it made a metal bowl of standing rain water. They aren't taking ownership of the damage. Please consider this when you are deciding to hire them around a home. read more
