Food was great, the service was great, the ambiance was fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The waitress was attentive and very good natured! However the food was unpleasant overall. One taste of the gravy and it was not obviously rancid. The food, with the exception of the kids burger and hot dog was bland and tasteless. The "fried"mushrooms were reheated and the cores on some were cold. The shrimp platter wasn't awful, doubt that it was "hot off the grill". The atmosphere was nice and the waitress was friendly. But, honestly, save your money and your palate. read more

Came here last night after a cold 5.5 hour train ride. Located in the Company Store, where they also serve ice cream. Our server, Susan, was super friendly. Limited menu as Cass Railroad State Park is pretty remote, but they serve the basics. My hamburger was so good in fact ( and large), that I ordered a second! My husband ordered the fried chicken and it was moist on the inside and a delicious crunch in the outside. His two side choices were corn and coke slaw, both yummy. We also shared a creamy and yummy broccoli cheddar soup. This immediate area is absolutely stunning. read more

Stop in for breakfast before our train ride. The menu is simple but the food was all good. Our service was great. The old building was so cool and you can hear the train whistles as they arrive. It was a beautiful morning and having the screen doors so the breeze came in was so nice. Prices were really cheap. read more

Great food and atmosphere!!! Stopped here as we had business in Green Bank and this was the first restaurant to appear when we searched for food. Staff were super friendly and quick, the vibes were great especially if you can get there when the trains are running. Highly recommend if you're in the area! Very affordable pricing too!! read more

Fried Bologna is classic, had that for lunch. Its was descent. Went back for breakfast. Biscuits and Gravy were cold. To heat them up they toss it in the microwave. If you take the Cass railroad, skip this place for breakfast. Come back for lunch/dinner. read more

While staying in Cass over a weekend, we are at Shay's (formerly The Last Run) for dinner and for breakfast. Granted, restaurant options in or near Cass are limited, to say the least, but we would eat there again. The food was nothing special, which is to be expected in a more remote, sparsely populated area, but the prices are great--like pre-pandemic prices. Nothing we ordered was unpalatable, although I wouldn't recommend the pulled pork baked potato, which featured nacho cheese sauce and overly sweet pulled pork that was obviously prepackaged. The sandwiches and burgers are a better bet, and the wings and appetizers were decent too. Breakfast was overall much tastier, so it's a good place to stop in for a home style breakfast before a train ride if that's why you're visiting Cass. The service was quick and friendly, and the ambiance is unique. read more

This place is conveniently located where you wait to board the Cass Railroad. We stopped by after our long drive up. The burger was good and honestly I reaalllyyy enjoyed the chicken tenders! You have to order fries separate and for us 1 order to share would've been enough. Service was good but it took awhile to get our check so we just went to the counter, this also meant we didn't get refills on our drinks. Stopped in for breakfast on a beautiful Saturday morning. Simple menu in a very clean and friendly diner like place- but add the train and the swinging porch front door for effect! Going back home from a successful trip to snowshoe and my family and I were looking for a quick snack shop when we stumbled across shays. The last run is connected to a cute gift shop (called shays) with the coolest games, candies, and the nicest staff. When we sat down for our meal in The Last Run, our server took care of us very quickly with constant check-ins. The food was delicious. I highly recommend stopping here for a quick bite!! read more

No idea what happened with those people who had a bad experience. We had a great experience. Very pleasant people. Food is very simple with small menu but being as isolated as they are I did not expect more. Got to know the owner and she is wonderful. When one child could not decide she offered something not on the menu. This is our second time there and looking forward to next time. ps: I thought the train added to the experience. read more

This place is straight, hot garbage. It's probably because they don't feel that they have to put effort in because it's part of the attraction. Literally all of my senses were insulted. The tables and chairs were uncomfortable, the waitresses had bad attitudes, like bad, the food isn't good, the train blowing it's steam every 3 minutes was enough to give a youngin' like me a headache, and I'm not sure what the smell is... But it smells like sewage. Great ride out here, not worth even stopping for the bathroom. read more

Boyfriend & I stayed in Cass while skiing at Snowshoe this weekend. On our first day there we were too hungry to wait until after we grocery shopped to eat, so we found The Last Run Restaurant right by where we were staying - yay! It's pretty big inside and is cozy and very clean, and it's connected to a general store. We were one of two couples there and food came out fast. I got a veggie burger and salad and he had a philly cheesesteak and fries. He loved his sandwich and my meal was great too. We enjoyed poking around the store after lunch - big candy selection, lots of train-themed toys, and local honey and jams. We'll definitely go back if we stay in Cass again! read more

Didn't even get a chance to get food. We walked in and when we went up to the food counter the woman was so rude and uninterested in helping us that we left immediately. The store looks so cute from the outside so we were very disappointed by this interaction. Clearly they are not interested in customers so do your self a favor and go somewhere else. To the workers at this establishment, you don't need to be in a good mood all the time but at least be polite. read more

Saturday afternoon in scenic Cass, WV - stop and have lunch here (adjoining the Country Store) Let me say you should bring your own picnic hamper or food basket. Maybe they were slammed with the crowds, maybe it was a bad day? BUT this is a tourist trap, they should know better. Kitchen staff had filthy shirts. Backed up orders, terrible organization. Service was HORRIBLE. Don't trust the help with checks? Pay at the register...?? Surly waitress/supervisor? (not the 2 young ladies that served us though - they had no choice, their back-up did not do the job...) The food was sort of OK at the end, nothing to get excited about. YUCK! My family stopped in after leaving Snowshoe. What a mistake--$15.95 each for a "Brunch Buffet" which consisted of powdered eggs, gravy, breads, mystery meat and Freezer Queen style sliced turkey. All food was COLD and not really edible-my advice is to keep driving. We each took a few bites and decided that we could wait to eat. Beautiful area though. read more
