I will miss this place. First started going to the shop around 1980 when it was at 32nd St and Shea. Then became a customer at Tatum and Shea! I was always pleased with the outcome of whatever I brought in. Shoes, purses, boots, luggage. This will be a tough act to follow for any other shop. Hope the owners enjoy retirement. I rarely write reviews much less long ones. This shop deserves a little time especially since I don't see much online. And there should be. I am used to living in a city where there is a shoe shine box on every corner. Now that I have to drive, drop off and potentially wait it is not only important that shines are crisp but also last a little while. That is this shop- best shines I have found in AZ and I would put them right up against SF. Cheers to this gentleman's excellent craftsmanship. I like to stay out of what someone charges given time can make that change and shoes vary. With that being said, he is as inexpensive as anyone I have found. English is this gentleman's 2nd language and I am envious- I can only speak one. Point is be patient with that part and make sure you keep your pickup ticket if you pay in advance. With that minor advice in hand, enjoy the services and low cost of a person operating at the absolute top of his profession. read more

I'm glad to have found this shop! Yes, it could be cleaned up & organized however the owner delivers results! I had "bottoms lifts" of two designer sandles ..wow, like new!!! Prices were fair and he's a hard working shop owner. I found out he was doing business there way before the mini mall got big! I plan to return with my son's leather belts needing additional holes to fit his waste:) thank you!!! read more

a nice older asain man greeted me at the counter. i showed him my shoes they needed new soles he said he could get to them in a day it was tuesday. i told him i was in a rush so to take his time. I picked them up today Wow the look brand new the price was inexpensive 50 for the both of them. most artisans are quiet ,especially other cultures they dont believe in chit chat. They are in business to service you and then get right back to to bench. well see for yourself a great job well done. read more

Love this nice, older, Asian fellow named Tony. I have taken soooo many things to him from cheap lugguage to be repaired to my beloved Gucci and a vintage Chanel bag. He does a great job every time, has never been late getting stuff back to me. And best of all doesn't charge me an arm and a leg! Highly recommended - tiny shop. Hidden - but great location. The owner, an older Asian man, has zero people skills, nor is he pleasant. I over looked that aspect, as long as he could do a good job on my work shoes that's all that mattered to me. Well let me tell you that character counts! If a person is rude and unhelpful, you best believe they will treat you in the same manner if you have a problem. My problem is I paid him $40 to replace my soles on my work shoes, which is more than what I paid for the shoes. Nevertheless, the soft soles he told me were going to be put on were NOT. He ended up putting on hard soles that are so slick I'm sliding everywhere. Okey so I have hard soles now, I'll learn to ice skate. Then I noticed that allot my spikes that are on my shoes are missing! (my shoes are pink flats with silver spikes all over them). I pointed it out to him, and he grabs them and says "oh no they are just pushed under material". He fiddles around with 1 and then hands them back to me. Of course I was irritated that I got my shoes back damaged. He then told me I can just fix them myself. Rather than making a big scene I just wanted to get out of there and never return again, clearly this guy is not going to make things right. I asked him if there was a warranty for these soles? His reply was "warranty, what's that?" I repeated myself and tried to explain what a warranty is. He says "NO those soles will last longer than your shoes". A business owner who doesn't know what a warranty is....or maybe he's just playing stupid? To add insult to injury (try not to be too grossed out by my next sentence) lol, his nose was running which he wiped with his HAND and then grabbed my shoes and put them in a clear plastic bag! There was SNOT on the BAG! oh my god how freakin disgusting, classless is that! Who does that? So in a nutshell, I paid twice the price for slippery hard soles, missing pushed in spikes that I have to fix myself, and his snot on my item. Boy did i get had. read more

If I could give a 0 I would. Don't be taken in by the cobbler who comes off as a soft older man. I brought my suitcase in to get the handle repaired. He said he could fix it and when I picked it up, it worked. However, when I got to the airport for my first trip it broke! I couldn't get the handle to retract and it made my trip a total hassle. I brought it back to ask him to fix it and he said he was going to charge me again! He said he "Doesn't guarantee his work." I was astounded! I told him I was going to place a negative review on his listings and he said "Oooo! I hope I can survive that!" Well...you can only swindle someone from the neighborhood one time--and he has to be running out of customers because there aren't that many that actually get things repaired anymore like me.
