Caryn was extremely professional and helpful with any questions I had regarding my makeup and timelines. She answered so many questions for me and really made sure I understood what she was doing and why she wanted to use certain products over others (better wear, longer lasting, great results in pictures, etc). Prior to scheduling my run through, Caryn asked me to think about the look I wanted and to make sure I had ideas, pictures, colors in mind to help achieve my look. During my run through, Caryn really honed into what I wanted and the make up was fantastic. I also appreciated that Caryn took time to explain what I should be doing for skin care prior to my wedding as well. On the day of the wedding, Caryn arrived at our discussed time and set up her station. Caryn also did the make up for some of my bridesmaids as well and she managed her time wonderfully. She made sure the makeup she used for each girl played up their features and also stayed in line with the colors I wanted. I loved how the girls looked and I loved my look as well. Not only did Caryn apply my makeup, but she also helped keep me calm. My makeup looked amazing, felt good (not at all heavy or cakey), and my makeup lasted well over 10 hours. I want to start by saying I have never once left a bad review for anyone. My experience with Kiki…read morehas left me so disappointed that I really felt the need to share my experience to help prevent it from happening to someone else. I came to Kiki in May looking for a blonde specialist who could help mend my over processed hair and help me achieve a brighter blonde result. After an initial consult at which we talked for close to an hour where I showed her several inspo pics she scheduled me for an appointment. I show up to the first appointment and she doesn't remember who I am or what we spoke about (insists that i'm another one of her clients). After refreshing her on our conversation she says oh yeah I have you down for something else we don't have time for that appointment today and I'd also like you to start using K18 on your hair I'd like 6 more weeks of growth before I'll work on your hair (my hair is already 9 weeks grown out at this point) I'm slightly frustrated because I drove all the way to her salon for her to not realize who I am or do the service we scheduled when she could've told me she needed more growth at the consult and had me order K18 then. But, i'm a new client and really trying to be mailable so I smile and don't make a big deal of it. She suggests a haircut that day so I get a cut which I pay for at that time even though it's part of the highlight package but she reassured me she will take the amount I paid then out of the total I pay when we highlight my hair. We then schedule an appt to highlight my hair (which we were supposed to do that day) for 6 weeks later. Fast forward 6 weeks, I text her inspo pics the day before as a reminder of what I wanted. I'm a level 4 brunette wanting to be bright blonde. I even tell her in my text, i'm ready to be blonde and that my roots are so grown out. At the appt we discuss a full highlight and she suggests a root melt to make my roots not as noticeable when growing out. Not ever having had a root melt before or knowing what it is I agree. She has my inspo pics and knows I want to be bright blonde so I feel like she knows what I want it to look like. Well, the end of the appt nears and my roots are darker than they were before coming in and further down on my head. The lower part of my hair is brighter which she did well (probably put 20-30 foils in). Meanwhile I had been telling her the whole appt I don't want to see the root. Then she asks if I need a haircut, which she just did 6 weeks earlier. Now I understand not remembering every client's services but i'm thinking, "does she have no notes that she's reviewed before seeing me?" I tell her she already did one. Fast forward to paying and she charges me the whole package including the cut. We literally just talked about how she cut my hair 6 weeks ago. I tell her are you going to take out the cost of the cut? She goes, oh did you already pay for that? She knew I paid for it. She's not going to not charge a new client for a cut and take my word that I'll pay for it later. She was hoping I didn't notice. Though i'm extremely frustrated I stay calm, politely leave and even still tip her because it's the professional thing to do. I text her later letting her know that my root is just as dark as before and ask if there's a way to fix it. She says I need to sit with it for 8-10 weeks. Doesn't empathize with me or seem concerned that I spent $420 with her and i'm unhappy with the service. She says she'll schedule me for 8 weeks from then for a full highlight (which is what she was supposed to do that day!). Then I get a text saying my appt has been changed to a date and time without her even checking if it works for me. I text her the next day to politely and professionally share my feedback and let her know I don't think things are aligning and that i'm going to cancel my future appt. She proceeds to take the time to find me on Instagram and follow me but doesn't have the professionalism or decency to text me back. In the end, I'd say the only good thing I got from this 3 month saga was a recommendation for k18 (which any stylist can do) and some brightening of the bottom of my hair. Throughout the entire process, she was disorganized, forgetful, unprofessional and brash and working with her was a costly waste of time. Once you read her response to my review you will immediately see that instead of taking responsibility and trying to understand where things went wrong she has chosen to degrade the client and blatantly lie (Serious health issues? Could only come in once a quarter? What?) The only behavior that was erratic was hers, not remembering who I am, what we scheduled, whether she cut my hair or not, not charging the correct amount, etc. I think the fact that Kiki is only responding because this is a public forum but won't respond to the client individually tells you everything you need to know. I have…read moregotten Keratin and Brazilian Blowout, having paid 1/2 of what I did for this service, and had results that lasted 6 months. This service, with "S4" product, did not last one wash. Kiki's consultation was inherently flawed, leading me to believe I would get the same results as with Keratin or Braziliian Blowout without the harmful chemicals; though "not as pin straight," but no frizz, wash-and-go. This is far from the case, with literally no difference in the quality of my hair before and after. After my first wash, I described my disappointing result to Kiki, and she backtracked, saying it would decrease blowout times and ease styling, but that both were required for the results I desired. I rarely blow dry my hair to protect from damage, so this would have been a red flag during a consultation - this was the first time I had heard that caveat. Kiki then sent me multiple PDFs from the manufacturer of the product describing expected results: "S4 will reduce frizz and deliver straighter, smoother, healthier looking, more manageable, and exquisitely beautiful hair and will last for months. Your clients will love it. S4 is a transformational, long lasting, and safe treatment that brings hair to its ideal, most beautiful condition without damaging or dangerous chemicals like formaldehyde, which can be found in other straightening or smoothing products." I thanked Kiki for the literature, since it confirmed that the treatment was not effective. I asked for a refund, even partial. She did not respond. Aside from the ineffective treatment, Kiki charged me $180 more than she should have (I should have caught it, and to her credit, she refunded me $200). She was 30 minutes late to start, and spent 30 minutes for the "consultation", which again, was egregiously misrepresentative of the product and treatment. I am disappointed on every level.
