The day of the appointment I got a call from someone else (stylist B) saying that she was running 20 min behind and asked if I could come 20 min later than scheduled, I said sure and that's what I did. I get there and stylist B greets me, this is when I realized she isn't the person I booked with, based on the picture. She said "your haircut is now with Stylist C and pointed to another woman standing by the desk. I had no choice in the matter and was already very annoyed but the switch ups but didn't feel like I could say no, plus I needed a haircut. Let's just say I was less than thrilled with stylist C and the haircut I ended up with. Also very unhappy with how unprofessional stylist B was, she never mentioned she is taking over my appointment, and she called to change the appointment time and was still unavailable. I also want to mention that I emailed the salon sharing my disappointment and have not heard back at all.. no apology, explanation or anything. So if you have a preference for a stylist make sure they don't change things up on you! Very disappointing customer service.

It's particularly troubling that neither the owner nor anyone in authority has had the decency to address my negative experience directly. The baseless attacks on my character are unacceptable, and it's disheartening to see lies and opinions spread publicly without any attempt to understand my side of the story. I want to share my incredibly distressing experience at Lua Nova Salon. I walked in excited for a new hairstyle, having shown the stylist a picture of what I wanted--a long bob (LOB) with layers. However, from the very first cut, I sensed something was off. The stylist next to mine reacted with wide eyes, looking back and forth between my hair and the floor, which immediately raised my concerns. Unfortunately, my fears were confirmed as the stylist butchered my hair. Instead of the layers I requested, I left with a blunt cut short bob that was nothing like what I had envisioned. To make matters worse, I was asked to leave while still in shock and tears. My distress made the stylist uncomfortable--yes, MY tears over my butchered hair were making HER uncomfortable. I was asked to leave looking like this, which made the situation all the more horrifying. I can't believe I walked into a place where, within 15 minutes, all my hair was chopped off, and I was treated as if I were the issue. I felt dismissed and invalidated during a moment that was deeply personal to me. I cannot express how heartbroken I am over this experience. If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. I strongly advise against sitting in Emma Carlson's chair, as my experience with her was nothing short of horrendous. Please be cautious if you decide to visit this salon. What was meant to be a fresh cut to help me take a step forward in overcoming my deep depression has only made things 20 times worse. I hope others have a better experience, but I certainly will not be returning. I will be surprised and blessed if I make it out of this one. This has truly been an absolute nightmare and one of the worst days of my life. The first picture is my hair before I walked in; the second is the picture I showed the stylist for reference. It made me wonder if she knew any idea of what Yelp was and made me not tell her that I may or may not review this experience. I may not review all the time, but for the most part, people always remember their not so good experience so here goes nothing: I got a tip from one of our managers on our floor where she got her last haircut and I was in dire need of a haircut (hadn't gotten a hair cut in almost a year so the mop on my head was was in desperate need of TLC). I told her that I loved her hair and she had a good experience with the girl at Shear Success. I said I am totally going there and happen to see they had a Groupon. Score for me - made me look forward to it even more so. Finally the day arrived to get my haircut and I was anxious all day for it because I was ready for healthier and lighter hair. Unfortunately for the hairdressers here, I compare their work with what I get back at home in Michigan. I've lived here for the last 5 years and CANNOT find THE hairstylist that is a keeper. I told the hairstylist you can do whatever you'd like to my hair, all I ask is that you do not give me face-framing layers and that it's no shorter than my armpit. I would think there would be endless possibilities as my hair was waist length. So this is what happened: She took the shears and cut off the length with maybe two cuts. Then proceeded to color my hair with partial foil. When she got to the hair closest to my forehead she slapped it on and probably punched my right eye a couple times in the process. I would have told her but I probably blacked out both times. And here is where I should have stayed quiet and not ask any questions: Me: So...what do you plan on doing with my hair (this is while she is blowdrying my hair, at which point makes me think she was close to being done) Hairstylist: Oh what do you mean? Me: Like what kind of plans do you got for my hair? Layers? Etc? Hairstylist: I already cut your hair, I'm just going to texturize it. Me: Oh ok (in my head I said, hahaha, just kidding). I don't know if it was because I had a Groupon in tow, but I felt like she did a half-ass job. Like she just wanted to get the job done. I was disappointed that there wasn't more dimension in my hair. If I wanted to get my haircut at one length I felt like I could have done that myself. I asked her if she could go back in and put some layers in there and she said that there already were layers in there but I just couldn't see them. At that, I tipped her nicely - probably more so than I should have, but since I don't think I'll go back, it was my "I'm not coming back and guess what, you'll be on Yelp." Overall, it wasn't a botch job, it was not horrible, I'm not a person that is attached to my hair, I think I was just disappointed - hoping for more creativity. I hope this will help you make an informed decision about getting services at Salon Ori…read more Here we go: I met with Anne Magnuson for a haircut, liked her and the cut, and went back for a partial balayage ($180 after automatic gratuity) to achieve a pale pink color (see photo). The result was a slightly darker color than this, but I liked it. I've had many color jobs in my life--permanent, semi- & demi-permanent, henna, color depositing conditioners. I didn't touch my hair for 48 hours, and then rinsed it with water as cold as I could tolerate. Immediately, there was noticeable fade. Over the next 9 days, I washed it a couple times with cool water and color-safe products I'd used with previous color jobs. All the pink left, leaving a mix of gold/yellow/bleached color and my natural, salt and pepper (see photos). Even the Punky Color brand of depositing conditioner lasts longer. I reached out to Anne. Her first recommendation was to come in and pay for a glossing service ($90 before automatic gratuity). It was 11 days after the dye job. She blamed my products. I sent her photos of the ingredient lists, she didn't comment. I asked for a recommendation of a product I could put in myself. She recommended some shampoo/conditioner and a color-depositing product that wasn't available. I let her know, and asked her how long she had expected the color to last anyway. She made another recommendation, and didn't respond to my question. At this point, it was clear she was only interested in recommending additional purchases, and was ignoring my questions about how the dye she put in my hair was expected to function. She blamed my color-safe products, but wouldn't support this with any comment on the ingredient lists I sent. I had actually told her what I use for color-safe shampoo at our appointment, and her only comment was "I didn't know they (the company) made that." Nothing else. No suggestion of any specific products. So, I reiterate to her: 1) After 48 hours, noticeable fade started after just rinsing with cold water; 2) Did she see any red flags in the ingredient lists? 3) How long was the color product she used supposed to last anyway? Her response: politely telling me she won't work with me anymore. And again, no response to these reasonable questions. I reached out to the owner, who tells me "I'm sorry you were disappointed" and that she stands by Anne and also "as she is an independent stylist, I don't get involved in her business." Wow! So, if you're going to book a service at Salon Ori, be careful! If it doesn't go right, chances are they will not address your questions, they'll just want you to buy more stuff, and then tell you in polite terms to **** off. Now I'm going to go put a Moroccan Oil product in my hair--I should have done that in the first place.

They feature local artists each month to decorate the space and have lots of lovely plants in their big, sunny window. Their online scheduling system is easy to use and both stylists I've been to (Jen and Betsy) have done a great job understanding my requests and providing their own expertise to make sure my hair turns out great.

I don't look as tired with them on. I was happy my girl, Gina was able to fit me in her schedule on a recent visit to Minnesota. She does a phenomenal job. I highly recommend Gina and this salon if you need lashes, hair care, pedicures or manicures. Gina's salon is clean and beautiful. They screen each guest prior to each service to prevent the spread of the virus and I'm happy to see the level of precautions being taken. So if you are looking for a fab salon, look no further!

They ensured we had the coffee, tea or water needed at all times, they allotted space for my wedding dress for the day and allowed us to get ready in one of the open esthetician rooms and even relax in the break room when we were all ready for the event. I've worked with Tasha specifically. I've done a braided up do, silk press, wash and style, and sew in with closure with her. Prices are reasonable and they're flexible! They were willing to buy any hair extensions I needed as I was new to the area. They've always been available when I need an appointment. It's a fun vibe! A bit on the smaller side too, so not too hectic. My only "negative" is that appointments do take a long time, so don't be in a rush! Check them out - any age (I see children often!) and hair type!
