My experience with a 1/2 arm wax was both exceptional and terrible so this is a difficult review to leave... Let's start with the good stuff: - Off street parking. They're in the alley, like behind the Tibet restaurant, so parking is free and easy! - THEY. ARE. SO. NICE. I've been here twice and both of the women I saw were so friendly, professional, easy to talk to; I'll dedicate the 1 star to them. - Good prices, best I've found. The not so good: - The lighting in there is awful so neither of us can really see what has been done and what is left... both times, after what I thought was a thorough inspection, I left with flecks of honey wax all over my arms that stick to my clothes and jacket; it's such an uncomfortable mess and it's REALLY hard to remove. - I also left today with a long strip on the back of my left forearm that she missed... probably due to the poor lighting. Going to have to shaveee it...? Idk. - I ALSO left today with what is either a large burn, or some of my skin ripped off... After the initial redness faded in a couple of hours, I noticed large, distinct splotches down my right arm that are still burning/stinging/swollen 8 hours later (photos attached). When I look closely a teeny tiny layer of skin around it seems to be peeling away, so I think it was ripped off with the wax. It really hurts and I'm not sure how to treat it. I hope it goes away soon because it looks pretty disturbing... So... they're really nice, the prices are great, location works well for me... Will I be back...? Unfortunately no. I want to remove the hair but keep my skin on :/ UPDATE: Yup. My arm is now scarred from having my skin ripped off.... bringing my 2/3 stars down to 1 star. I been here several times now and have had a variety of areas waxed. I have always been very happy with the results. Rebecca is so so nice - especially the first time I came there as I had never done waxing before and was a bit nervous. She explained everything and really engaged me in conversation which really helped me be more relaxed and comfortable during my appointment. She keeps things clean and is very professional. The prices are good too, but the prices aren't that important to me. Seems like so many people want outstanding service for dirt cheap prices. You can't expect that. This is my second review for The Wax Stop. I have been seeing Rebecca for waxing services for a few years, since she moved into Hopkins and her previous shop. This past Saturday I treated myself to a facial by Rebecca. It was amazing. Rebecca uses only food products -- avocado oil, coconut oil, honey, aloe juice and the like --- in her facials which appealed to me because I have sensitive skin and a skin care routine that works for me. I needed a little "treat" for myself after some crazy work hours lately, and this fit the bill. No lie, it was better than any massage I've ever had. Rebecca worked gently on my face using product that she made herself. No unpleasant smells, no perfumes, no mysterious chemicals. No peel, no abrasion, just a relaxing face, neck and shoulder treatment that allowed me to relax into deep peacefulness -- exactly what I needed. My skin felt moist, pampered, and when I went home, my boyfriend commented that I looked 10 years younger. Perhaps that was the relaxation, perhaps it was my skin color and texture, who know and who cares. I felt 10 years younger! Days later, my skin is still smooth and I've had no redness, no irritation, no breakout, no problems. I will be treating myself every couple of months when life gets hectic, because this experience was the best. Do not schedule this facial at the beginning of a busy day. You will want to go home, put your feet up, maybe take a nap. I am a loyal customer, and I really like Rebecca and the fact that she runs a woman owned, independent, small business in my community. I had my brows done there today by Mia. I love the way they look and I think both Mia and Rebecca are absolutely wonderful. It's clear that creating a great customer experience is a high priority for them. Rebecca even gave me coffee in a to-go cup. You really can't beat that first thing on a Sunday morning. Something I noticed on their web site is if you don't see an appointment time that works for you and can let them know in advance, they may be able to accommodate you if you call. That impressed me. I now see Mia because her hours work better with my schedule. I LOVE Mia too. They both have great personalities and do their best every single time. They have an eye for detail. I came home with a long, thin patch of skin burned off or ripped off beneath my eyebrow. I wasn't pleased during the waxing as their routine was different from what I was used to - including waxing right onto my eyelid crease. During my drive home my skin hurt badly and my lids were sore, but I assumed that their methods or wax simply weren't right for me. When I came home and looked in the mirror the rest of my reddened skin had calmed and a visible burn line was showing as the source of my pain. I have been getting waxed for over 10 years and have never had an issue like this, so I don't believe it's due to skin sensitivity. read more

While looking up Waxing services on yelp I stumbled upon this shop. I needed my eyebrows done and decided to go to this place.. I met with Rebecca and she was a sweet gal. The first half of the session she was nice friendly.. She tinted my eyebrows and it went well. We got to the eyebrows and I told her I wanted them thin. She took small portions off (which was fine with me) so that she wouldn't wax it too thin. By the 2nd waxing off the excess, I noticed she wasn't as friendly and started rushing me on a decision if I wanted it more thin or what I didn't like about the eyebrow. I was feeling rushed to finish up my session even though she said she doesn't want me leaving the place unsatisfied. With the rushing I felt from her I decided to leave and I left half satisfied. Went home and I saw stray hair that I had to pluck myself and fix it so that it would match at the arch since one was pointy and the other one was round..( I pointed it out to her and she said it's because one side was just baby hairs, but it was just hair that needed to be plucked) I then noticed that I had a cut at the top of my eyebrow and the skin between my eyes was red and burning cause some spots the skin was probably waxed off.. I don't know. ( wish I had taken pictures) Overall, the place was cute and clean. I'm 50/50 with the place.. Don't hate it but don't love it either. Most likely I won't go back. :) read more

After a year of searching I have found my wax spot thank god! Rebecca is not only efficient, friendly, and great at was she does! I came in a few minutes late not once did she rush me in fact the opposite she could tell I was hurried and she put me at ease. the wax was perfection she did a wonderful job very knowledgeable and great conversation the entire time almost making you forget you're being waxed. I have been doing Brazilians for over 4 years and this os the first time o didn't have useless products pushed on me to buy she told me great advice to fix some pesky ingrown hairs and will be trying it I booked my next one out and will coming back regularly. read more

I recently moved from Los Angeles to MN and was so worried I wouldn't be able to find someone to wax my eyebrows as well as my lady did back home. When I walked into the Wax Stop, I was immediately greeted with a smiling face and all my worries subsided. Not only is Rebecca wonderful as a person, but she is awesome at what she does. Too big of a circus to get, cancel or reschedule an appointment. I called en route for directions and the answering service says they could not give that information out over the phone. You will never be able to contact the waxer/owner. Her email address on the Wax Stop website doesn't work and if you call, you will always get an answering service. Too bad. Her work is halfway decent but she does not care about her customer's time and money-only hers. It's worth it to pay a bit more for a salon that is more professionally run. read more

I have been waxing for many years and I have been to a handful of different estheticians. I found Rebecca about a year ago and I cannot imagine going anywhere else! Rebecca is professional, friendly and knowledgeable and she is great at making her guests feel as comfortable as possible.
