Coming from San Diego, I'm currently in search of a lot of new places to get things done. No matter what, finding a hairstylist is always very difficult for me. I have extremely thick, frizzy, wavy hair. There have been plenty of times that a hairstylist will take away from the shape and leave it in a condition that makes it even harder to manage. I decided to try Shear Indulgence after reading their Google reviews. I was unable to pick a stylist based on those reviews, so I decided to call and get a suggestion after describing what I wanted and my hair type. The receptionist suggested Chris, and I made an appointment. I'm very happy to see that she was not intimidated by my hair, and really listened. She kept the shape that I had, and cut all the ends without making it too short. She also updated my color and made the ends of my ombré lighter. I love the color, and how it looks on me. I also decided to wait a few weeks before reviewing because there are times that I've walked out of a salon looking great, but then I wash it, and am unable to work with my hair. In this case, after 2 or 3 weeks, I'm able to style it on my own and it it's very manageable for me. I highly recommend Chris. I also was pleasantly surprised at their prices. I'm used to paying a lot of money since I tend to pick the best Salons and Hairstylist. Although, I got premium service, I found their rates to be very reasonable! read more

I just relocated to the area & finding a hairdresser & salon to fit what I was looking for can be hard but thanks to YELP & great reviews I found Heather. I went in for a touch up. I was shocked that the salon was open on a Monday & was able to get an appointment today with such short notice. Heather did an amazing job with my color & blow dry (hair is bouncy, shiney, & soft) I absolutely loved my blow dry, shampoo had a very relaxing head message & the tea tree product they use, smells amazing! I am definitely returning to see Heather in a few weeks for hilights. Highly recommended her & the salon! read more

I've gone to many salons where I've left either dissatisfied or horrified at how the stylist decided to send me out the door of their business. This is NEVER the case at Shear Indulgence. When I leave from there after seeing Melissa Barfield, my entire day will have been transformed-- she knows what will look best because she knows to look at the shape of my head, the shape of my face, where my cowlicks are, and where the thickest patches of hair grow in from my scalp. I am a bit late in posting and because of that I wasn't going to but I have been urged by several people to share my experience as I, myself, rely heavily on reviews. I was desperate to find a good stylist for short thin hair and trendy cuts so I did a lot of research. Everything pointed me in the direction of Chris "Chuck" so I made an appointment to see her. After the wait to get in to her, the day finally arrived. However, when I arrived to Shear Indulgence I was told that she was really booked up and had a lot going on so then I should see Angie instead. I was assured that Angie was wonderful with thin hair. This is where I partially blame myself... I said yes. I was so desperate to find someone good (my awesome hair dresser had moved). I agreed to have someone that I didn't research, or see previous work, cut my hair. Even though I had specifically made an appointment with someone else. The cut wasn't too bad. I thought I could live with it while it grew out. However, once I was home and washed all the mountains of product out, my hair was a mess. I couldn't style it in anyway that looked good. So, I called the next day to say that the cut was not a good cut for me. I was told to come on back in and Angie would fix it for me. I did. She did (kind of). And then charged me the complete full price again! I was prepared to tip generously if I liked the change, but of course after being charged twice in 3 days for a cut that didn't work with my thin hair (actually CUTS that didn't work as the second one was bad too) I didn't bother to tip at all the second time. Again, I'm upset with myself as well for agreeing to have someone cut my hair that I knew nothing about. Then she didn't cut it the way I wanted and I'm upset that I paid the second charge without even arguing about it. I think it just took me completely by surprise. Luckily after waiting about 3 weeks I found another stylist that was wonderful and actually listened to me regarding what I wanted. This one even told me that if I didn't like it after I got home to give her a call and she'll make a few adjustments. I hadn't told her what had transpired at Shear Indulgence until after I asked if there would be a charge for the adjustments and she told me that of course there wouldn't. When I told her about the double charge in 3 days time she was surprised. After all of this time the good hair dresser I found moved away when her husband was transferred, so I searched again but knew not to even try Shear Indulgence again. Lucky again, because after much research I found Sally at Studio 02. Best find so far! She actually listens to you about your hair, does a great job and charges less than I was charged for two bad cuts at Shear Indulgence! read more

My daughter, who has incredibly long thick hair, had a huge knot in it from a mishap with 15 Bunchems getting stuck in her hair. We were able to get the Bunchems out, but what was left was a horrible mess! Really enjoyed my experience here (at first). Had a great stylist who worked with my thin hair and took initiative when I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted. Unfortunately she moved out of the shop and I was picked up by someone else. Can't complain about the cut itself, and was honestly more put off by having my neck tugged at by the scissors each time. Last appointment she left a nick on my neck and tried to make it seem like it was just a snag not a cut or anything. I knew something was up when I left, because I've been here probably 6-7 times and am asked every single time before I leave to confirm my next appointment in 6 weeks. This time, I was not. Driving home thinking to myself, wow my neck feels pretty itchy. Get home, sure enough I see that I've been cut. Wouldn't have been a big deal if she had just told me what's up, seemed like she was trying to be sneaky about it. I've honestly just never had someone nick me during a haircut. Made the 2 experiences with her pretty uncomfortable. Thankfully I moved to the Lexington area and will be able to go back to my lady before. read more
