I really had such an amazing experience at this salon. I haven't had my hair cut or colored professionally in 7 years so I was excited and nervous to try someone new. You can't just trust anyone with your hair. I called on a Thursday and was able to get in the following Monday, which I was actually shocked to even be able to get in that fast. I'm such a procrastinator and was just hoping to get in before my wedding anniversary which we were celebrating in Jamaica and I wanted my hair to look fabulous. I was in town for a few weeks, made an appointment with Bailey for my mom, and loved the results so much that I went back and got my hair cut with her too. LOVE IT. Bailey took the time to really understand what we both wanted, was very patient as we described the styles we liked (how does one correctly describe that?), and found examples on her mobile device to help us get on the same page. She has extensive experience as a stylist in different cities, worked in fashion shows and the like, and apprenticed under several high-profile professionals including those who trained under celebrity hairstylist Oribe Canales. Kudos also to the salon itself and to Chelsea who checked us in at the front desk. She was great too - warm, friendly, and welcoming. The salon is a very professional, well-run place - clean, bright, upscale, modern, and upbeat. A happy place! My mom and I felt very pampered from the minute we walked through the door. Honestly I thought we were there to just get a haircut, but it turned out to be an experience of its own. Needless to say, I highly recommend the Velvet Edge Salon. So glad I found it. It's been a few weeks and I am still loving my new hairstyle. My challenge now is that I'm afraid to get my haircut anywhere else and need to fly into town to see Bailey! read more

****WARNING!!!**** Ladies, if you want to keep the hair in your head intact OR if you expect a salon owner to take responsibility if your appointment goes completely south as mine did, DO NOT VISIT THIS SALON! After getting ROUTINE foils with Kelsey, my hair was melting out in clumps because she wasn't paying attention to how long she'd left the chemicals in my hair. She also did not have a basic understanding of different shades of blonde. She stood there like a deer in headlights and offered ZERO COMFORT OR EXPLANATION. Rachel, the owner, then proceeded to take ZERO responsibility, failed to offer compensation, blamed it on external factors, and hung up on me. Terrible salon. read more

Considering the amount of money I have spent at this salon over the last few months, I should not have issues with my hair. It's been pretty disappointing, I have had issues with both color not being applied correctly and extensions slipping but when I bring it to the attnetion of the the stylist, she cannot take accountability for her poor work. They blame the customer and agree to 'fix' but at a cost to the client. If I spend $400 for a 1-row move up, the hair should not slip off the bead just 2 weeks after the install, yet the stylist insists it's my fault even though this is the second time the same thing happened after the last move up, I ended up having to cut the extension because no one could get me in to fix it despite sending photos of how much the extensiong was sticking out of my hair and hanging off my head. How can they expect their high paying clients to walk around like that? But it seems that is the level of standard they hold themselves to. read more

This was my first time, and it was super easy to book an appointment. I wasn't sure what I wanted but Carolyne talked me through the entire process and what we were doing. She was extremely knowledge and was friendly. Had a great time talking with her. Everyone in there is friendly. The salon is absolutely beautiful. You walk in and are greeted with smiles from everyone before being taken to your stylist's station where you're offered a complimentary beverage ranging from infused water, to an iced coffee or even a mimosa. I had a consultation with Rachel for extensions and she was so sweet and made me feel like we had known each other for years. Today my extensions were installed and I've never felt more confident or beautiful. From the decor in the salon to the personalized name signs for each client, the whole experience feels high end but their prices are more than reasonable. Before beginning, she had a thorough consultation with me and gave me her recommendations for treating my hair based on my hair type and hair goals. Velvet P. I made an appointment and was looking forward to a wonderful experience. Several days before my appointment Bailey text me and wanted to "get a clear understanding" of what I wanted for my hair. I told her it was much longer than I wanted, but I didn't want it cut so short that she would need to shave my neck. I arrived early, and Bailey did not keep me waiting. When I sat in her chair she acted as if she didn't want to touch my hair, and asked me if I wanted a trim. I told her no, I want it cut it's too long. Then she told me that she did Not cut short hair. She works more on long hair. She said she didn't want to cut my hair and me to not like it. She did not want to cut it, so I left. What a TERRIBLE experience! I drove all the way over to Irmo from Lexington, only to find out she did not know how to cut my hair. Maybe this place needs you to explain how you want your hair cut BEFORE you get there so they can decide if they know what to do it. Funny, I thought the hairdresser is suppose to help the client decide what is best for them, not at this place. read more
