We went with a group of people from work last night . I had a great time! She show is hilarious! Jokes are very current and very local! That makes it very cool! They interact with the audience which is also very cool! And I would disagree about the age of the audience - 90% of people were in their 20s. Cool thing is that the the venue is really small, so no matter where you sit - you'll be up close. Everyone was laughing their butts off! What a great night! read more

A theatrical night for the Yelp Elite crew for sure! Very cool stage set up where our group, who sat front row felt like we were practically part of the set. The show itself was a lot of fun and full of belly laughs. It was incredibly cool that we were able to meet the cast after and hear about how the show started, evolved over time, how the actors joined the show and interesting that they have each played almost all the roles in the cast. Numerous yelpers said it's what makes seeing the show multiple times so entertaining and the fact that they work off the audience and change the story line based on our participation. We were skeptical, I'll admit, but brought my parents here for their anniversary with my brother and girlfriend (parents are in their 60's and we're all around 30 years old). I've gone twice--- once when I was very young and mom took me and once on an ill-fated date. But both times it was fun. Basically, it's a murder mystery where the audience gets to decide Who Dunnit. It has a rolling cast of actors (it's been going on for probably almost 20 years at this part) and there is some improv in on the actors parts when they are feeling bored with the same old script. A really good time, and even though my date didn't turn out that well, I blame her, not the show. It's still a good date! read more

So to start off, the show will be slightly different everytime you see it due to the audience interaction so some shows may not be as entertaining as others. With that being said, I CANNOT wait to go back! I went the week before last and laughed so hard that I almost peed my pants (and I have probably the worlds largest bladder). The cast was so witty and had good comebacks for even those in the audience. If you don't like some crude language or sexual inuendos, then don't see the show... For those of you who do, go now! It was so funny! The theater is small and very much like many theaters in New York- some small cocktail tables to sit at, standard chairs, and directors chairs. There wasn't a bad seat in the house. Great show! We got discounted tickets on Goldstar. I ended up paying $10 more/ticket for premium table seats, but on a Friday night pretty much everyone was at a table seat, so I don't think it was worth it. The show itself was awesome. Very funny and it seems like they update it to have current events/humor. Drinks are served before and at intermission. I would definitely recommend it for a easy, fun night out. read more

A show that has been running for years that STILL makes people laugh? I was a little worried. But, I should not have, the experience was wonderful! It started with some very friendly people at the bar where we had a drink before we went in for the show. They were very nice people who took a minute to chat and seemed to be genuinely interested in who we were and where we came from. I could not be more impressed with the show. I was very hesitant reading the reviews. I'm not a big fan of this type of comedy, I only bought them because my girlfriend enjoys shows like this. The show started a little slow but got going quick. The older woman and the gay barber made the show. They were so funny. This is a must when visiting Boston, and every Bostonian should go at least once too. If I ever come through Boston again I'll make sure to buy tickets. read more

Fun For All The great thing about this show is you can go multiple times and never see the same performance. I've seen this show 3 times in the past 5 years and I laugh and enjoy it every time I go. While it's not a Broadway level performance the acting is very good and clearly the cast has fun with this performance. It's a murder mystery who done it play that takes place in a barber shop. A cool gimmick is that the audience gets to help solve the crime during the show. The best part of the show is that the outcome changes as well as the jokes. They update the humor to coincide with current events. It's great to be able to go to the same show and not see the same performance. read more

The love I have for this show is ineffable. However, as I always do, I will attempt to display my passionate emotions through eloquent words. This was my second time at the "whodunit" show, and boy was this an experience. After being greeted by a kind woman representing the theater, we were taken to the actual theatre area. Here in this intimate room sat a great set: pleasing aesthetics are necessary to receive a good review, and Shear Madness soared high above my expeditions with bright yellows and greens. And the cast, oh the cast! A flamboyant lead, supported with a perfectly delivered stiff businessmen, a hilarious wealthy socialite, and many other characters all contribute to the five star rating. Heck, I'd give it a ten if I could. Go to shear madness, relax, sip cocktail, grab a snack, and enjoy the show. Come prepared to be a part of the show, and most important, be prepared to have a laugh or two, because by the end of the the show, you'll be crying of laughter. Thank you shear madness for a beautifully done show, along with a wonderful snack and drink selection, and for providing me with a wonderful experience. This experience was the band aid for the wounds I received the past few days at Six Flags, and the Hard Rock Cafe. P.S. I went to this a long time ago but I really want to go back sometime soon...they were hilarious! They really got the audience involved with what they were doing which was great, and I think a lot of it is Improv which is really impressive! Great, fun, interactive mystery comedy. THINGS I LIKED. 1) it's all ages 2) Crowed participation by volunteer only. No picking on people. 3) Great table set up. 4) Cute stage 5) I liked how during intermission, the detective encouraged people/witness's to ask him questions and give him feedback on the mystery. THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE. 1) No photography or video allowed what so ever. 2) The ending to the mystery is all up to the crowed to decide and vote who killed the person. This was very disappointing to me, for the mere fact our group tried so hard to pay attention to the details, and test our skills. Well come to find out, no detective skills needed, it's all decided by a show of hands. :/ I really hope they change this, because it's no fun knowing the audience is going to decide, rather than guessing the correct person and solving the case! Other than that, everything else was great. The ticket master at the front of the theater, was super nice and helpful. He answered all our questions, and did it with a smile. :) When in Boston, I do recommend seeing this. read more

My roommate works here, and got me and some friends in for free. I'd seen the show before in D.C. when I was a kid, so I knew the premise, but I still loved this one just as much as the other. We all had an amazing time! The actors are great and super funny, and the interactive portion is terrific - they really think of everything. When my friend picked up the ringing phone on the stage during intermission, the cop character played along and pretended he had just joined the force. It was great! Oh my word! SOOOOO much fun! This play is all comedy with a dash of murder mystery that involves the audience in solving it. You will miss some of the jokes only because you aren't done laughing at the previous joke. We laughed and laughed. Some of the jokes are a little more "adult" natured but went over the kids' heads. It's not funny. It just isn't. I felt sort of bad for the cast because they had a really high energy level and seemed to be doing the best they possibly could with it, but the script is really excruciating. The humor is incredibly cheesy and weak--if you love malapropisms and terrible puns and jokes that are fill-in-the-blank with whatever celeb is in the news then I guess you might enjoy it. The interactive parts were actually okay simply because it ramped up the energy a bit; I wish the questioning segment had been longer and the first act shorter. read more
