We have been loyal customers of PetSmart for over 13 years, utilizing your grooming services, retail store, and veterinary services. Until this experience, we have never had a negative interaction. When I recently called to schedule grooming at the Alabaster location, I was treated in a disrespectful and condescending manner by the store manager. During the call, several negative claims were made about my dogs' behavior. This was both surprising and concerning, as all prior grooming documentation consistently describes my dogs as "great," "sweet," and "loving grooming." Had there ever been legitimate behavioral concerns, we would have addressed them immediately and apologized to any staff involved. The manager listed alleged incidents, including one dog urinating in a kennel--which is not unusual for a 13-year-old dog who may be anxious during treatment--and another dog allegedly biting when her legs were touched. This latter claim is particularly troubling, as this dog has never exhibited aggressive behavior toward anyone. The tone and cadence of the conversation were unprofessional and dismissive. As a result of this interaction, I have requested to be removed as a customer. I will also be sharing my experience through appropriate review channels and with others in my community. I explained funds were limited since I had recently had a cat with colon resection among many other vet expenses, so I needed to approve what they would be doing. I asked about albuterol (I'm an RN in Pacu and have run a cat rescue on the side for many years) and they said they didn't have any, but didn't bother to explain that Terbutaline is what is most often used in a cat respiratory crisis. The first vet didn't listen to anything I had to say and said that she was the one with the vet degree. I responded calmly that there a great vets and there are bad vets so that comment means nothing. She then abruptly stormed out of the room and went and got the owner vet. I did agree to a chest XR at which point the arrogant male vet said they were not equipped to treat an emergency especially with me having a say in any of it and this was at 5:30( my appt was at 5) that he refused to treat and was quite ugly about it and referred me to the emergency clinic in Hoover. Now if funds are limited to begin with, how can I afford the emergency clinic? But of course Kent Farms didn't care. Plus at this point my cat was freaked out in a strange place which made his breathing even worse. They had my cat in the back and brought him to me telling me to leave. As I quickly walked out, I called my regular vet across town and even though they closed at 6 they said come. I got there at 5:57 and the vet stayed and treated him. The XR was not definitive. Radiologist that read it said either asthma or fungal pneumonia. Now they think heart worm is a possibility. Anyway my regular vet saved his life that with terbutaline, steroids, and antibiotics. He is now on Revolution, prednisolone, and occasionally requires a round of Doxycycline. Fungal blood tests came back negative. The experience at Kent Farms happened over 4 months ago. I was trying to go some place closer to home, but that was a mistake. Kent Farms even called the next day and left a message wanting to know what happened with my cat and asked my address so they could send me a bill. A bill for what, for endangering his life by refusing to treat him. Kent Farms Animal Hospital is awful.

I was unable to make a rescheduled (by them) appointment and called but no answer. I took my dog there for a new appointment and was told that the price would be the same as usual ($90). After 3 1/2 hours of my dog being there, (no bath no grooming) they tell me over the phone that I have to pay $120 before they start or " just come get your dog". Of 3 years of my dog getting groomed, I've never had to pay beforehand. When I get there, I try to clear confusion but I get over talked by the groomer. When I ask to get my dog and leave, he tells me that it'll be fine if I just pay upfront. I demanded my dog and we left.
