Dr. Dunaway is very attentive and she provides the best and most cost effective recommendations. She listens and is very patient with us and our pets. So we are always able to get what we need in one place. She cared for Frank ( our Orange Tabby cat) for several years until he passed away last year. She also cared for our Tortoiseshell girl, Chipmunk, through numerous health issues until she passed away a few days ago. Our cat had health issues when we got her, and Dr. Dunaway was able to nurse her back to health, and both of our pets lived long lives. We knew that wouldn't have been possible without Dr. Dunaway and her staff. The staff remembers the families by name, and they sent us cards when our pets passed away. The hospital is also open on Saturdays, which is very helpful for weekend emergencies. I like this place because it is one of the few places that grooms cats. Tiffany is an amazing groomer, and she was always patient with our pets. The pricing for grooming is also reasonable. If you consider taking your pet here, I highly recommend Dr. Dunaway, as she is wonderful.

I've had nothing great experiences with this vet!!!…read more Here is my most recent story: I took my sweet little older pup in for a groom last week (3/16/21) and was called 30 minutes later by the groomer who told me they found a lump while expressing his anal glands (normal procedure for a full groom for those of you who may be unfamiliar). They asked if I wanted him to be seen by the vet and I agreed. The vet (Dr Daniels) confirmed my pup had a cancerous tumor (later confirmed to be malignant). I spoke with Dr Daniels several times and he was very honest and open and PATIENT with me. My dog is my only "child" and I know NOTHING about cancer (except that it REALLY sucks) so I was terrified. We scheduled surgery right away and he was seen the following Monday. Dr Daniels was amazing. He called me before surgery and again after surgery and when he started to wake up and again when he was standing and fully awake. He eased so much of my anxiety. When I went to pick up my pup, Dr Daniels sat in a room with me to go over everything again and answer question (questions I didn't even think to ask!). My pup is doing well now and is on his way to recovery. Dr Daniels also called me very early the next morning to check on Brodie to make sure all was well overnight (THIS was that moment I realized he was really going above and beyond...and the moment I told myself I needed the world to know how amazing my experience has been). I'll take my dog in for a check up next week and then he will have his stitches removed a few days later. I'm so very glad that I started taking him to Nall Daniels and SO glad I took him there to be groomed as this tumor was TINY and could have easily been missed by someone else. She began being almost unresponsive after the two times I took her there in one day I ended up taking her to steel city that night she had a 104 fever and feline calicivirus and her mouth was covered in ulcers. They looked in her mouth three times in those appointments and somehow missed the fever and ulcers. Would not recommend if I hadn't taken my cat to the emergency vet we would not have been so lucky to save her life.

Our oldest son lives in Birmingham so we packed up a couple of carry-on suitcases and our two doggies and took the 5 hr drive from St Charles parish to Birmingham, AL. Our son is very allergic to the dogs---especially our 70+ lb "Buddy", who sheds enough to make a new Pomeranian every single day! There was no way Buddy was going to be able to stay at his place, so I googled kennels in the area and came across this godsend, Oak View Animal Hospital. "Godsend? Really?!?" You may ask; and I tell you wholeheartedly , "YES!!!". 1. They are open on Saturday. Okay, many places are, but not all. We were very happy that they were able to accommodate our Buddy at such short notice (the morning of)! 2. They brought him current on his shots. One of the stressors was that Buddy was not up to date with shots---a big "no-no" if you want to board/groom your dog. OVAH said no problem--we'll take care of that! 3. The staff was great. From the initial phone call (I believe it was Sydney), to the drop off (Sidney and Brandi); to the calls checking up on him (I believe it was Brandi both times), to the pick up (Brandi again!)---they were so, so, so very reassuring, tender and professional to Buddy AND us, that we know you will not be disappointed using their services. 4. The medical care. Working as diligently and professionally behind the scenes was Dr Robinson, who not only gave Buddy his shots, but also performed a full on exam and gave Buddy a clean bill of health...a "1" on the healthy pet scale!! 5. Good byes. When we called to let OVAH know that we were coming to pick up Buddy the next day, they joked that he did so well and he may not even want to leave. We chuckled about it, but don't you know that it took about 3-5 min for Brandy to bring him out. I didn't ask, but I imagine she was probably giving him one last hug because you could definitely tell it's not just a slogan to them: they really do care for your pets as they do their own! 6. The finale. The proverbial cherry on top was when Brandi took our payment. She told me Dr Robinson had heard of our situation and she wanted to help us in our time of need by generously discounting our total bill. She obviously didn't do this to boast or to cultivate our future business (we live two states away!). She did this is because she is obviously a compassionate human being who, without hesitation, took action to help a fellow---no asking whether we made $1M or $1k per year---just shear goodwill on her part. We were so impressed with the total experience we received at OVAH, that we just had to share our experience to help put YOUR mind at ease when deciding for your pet's care anytime you're in the Birmingham area. Thank you, OVAH!!! PS. On the "small world" scene---while walking our small dog on our son's street, I got to chatting with one of the neighbors, whose 19-yr old dog has been cared for by OVAH---she had nothing but praises to say about them!

That means it is very hard to deal with at a Vet office. The owner met me one day and said, "Bring Otis in during your walk. We will give him treats and he can get familiar with our place. I did just that, and Otis started to take me to the front door so he could see his new friends (unbelievable) and get treats. This morning, I took Otis in for an actual visit with the Vet. A vet assistant was educated in these kinds of dogs. She educated me, gave me some sedatives for the next visit and explained that these small bullies are simply like this sometimes. Otis got a shot for the flu (I highly recommend) stool sample, heart and teeth checked. He also got a q-tip in the ear. I had to hold him tight, but it was fine. The staff showed calm professionalism. The facility is pristine, and the parking is plentiful. They have day care, VIP Day care and boarding. Amazing place and so nice for us. I highly recommend.

I arrived around 7PM, my little one was seen by 7:01, i was the only one in the building that time of night. I am fortunate to have such a good emergency vet right around the corner, i never with anyone to have to go here for obvious reason. But if your pet is ill, i would recommend these fine folks. Our pets are also our children too and deserve the best treatment they can get.
