If you're in need of a good manicure or pedicure Shear Pearl Salon is the perfect midtown location to go to. They have a BEAUTIFUL pedicure bar that is extremely comfortable. This salon is locally owned, has two hair chairs, two pedicure stations, and two manicure desks. They are flexible with scheduling and I've never had a hard time getting an appointment. This is my go-to salon for my biweekly gel mani pedis and I have always been happy with the price points and services. read more

Went here a few days ago with a Deal Chicken for a SPA gel pedicure and glass of wine. Melissa was the one who worked on me. Yeah the wine was cheap stuff. Not a big deal. Went for the gel pedicure and that was it. I also decided to get a gel manicure for $15 (yes $15) which I thought was a great deal until I realized it was just an express manicure so no massage or soak (should have been advertised as express...) Why just ok? I have had gel manicures and gel pedicures before. I was here for almost maybe 2 1/2 hours. I also did feel that the girls were just talking to each other or taking personal phone calls. Not the most professional atmosphere. I also would never get a pedicure here again. It's not really a spa pedicure with a tub and massage chair. You just sit high up on this bleacher looking thing and put your feet in a sink. It wasn't relaxing. My massage was also short. Had I known it wasn't a real spa pedicure, I wouldn't have purchased this. They also didn't have the best selection of high end polishes by OPI, Gelish, China Glaze, and Essie. My manicure and pedicure came out fine and stayed that way less than 2 weeks. The French tips are a bit larger than I would have liked now that I am looking at them. It's been maybe 2 weeks and already 3 nails look like shit with the gel already off the nail :( Wouldn't return. read more

Finally I found a good place for a pedicure. I took a chance & found an offer on Facebook, 2 for 1 deal. This gave me the chance to spend some time with my daughter. Andrea & Nicole were our manicurists. I was a little nervous climbing up onto the pedicure platform but it was lovely. I asked Andrea for hot water and for the first time EVER I got hot water! I think this is one of the first reviews I've ever taken the time to write and I'm bummed it's negative. I am new to town so I was trying to find a salon to get my mani/pedi from here on out. I figured purchasing a dc would be a great way to check this place out. Before I go on the owner, Adina and her technician were very nice and I really feel bad leaving this kind of review. First turn off, the phone number listed is the owner's cell phone. That seems fine at first but she never answers. Finally got a call back and booked after I left a message but it was frustrating to not get through during business hours. The day of the appointment my friend and I show up about 5-10 minutes prior to our appointment time and ended up waiting 20 minutes until we were taken back. Doesn't seem like a big deal, I understand people get a little behind. But when the other technician was late, strolled in wearing sweats and told the owner very loudly she forgot about the appointment, that was a little strange and unprofessional. The "throne" you sit in is pretty cool. Very comfortable and you kind of feel like royalty. The products used smelled amazing too! It seemed like it was going to be a decent pedi. I had Adina work on me and she seemed flustered. I sat in my tub for about 10 minutes longer than my friend before she started on me. Didn't seem like a big deal at the time because I was enjoying the ambiance and the delicious chai latte she brewed from her Keurig. Once she finally started on me it seemed to go by very quickly. I was done before my friend and started way later so I thought she was a pro. When I finally looked down it was bad. My nails were not filed straight at all. I don't just mean they were uneven, I mean they were jagged. Not one of my toes had polish that touched the end and none of the sides had been done. It looked like the polish was chipped before I even left the chair. I put my shoes on and moved back to the waiting room in disbelief. I know she was behind and wanted to be on time for the next client but come on. It didn't even look like she went to beauty school. I was extremely disappointed. I'm very sad to say I will not be returning. read more

I used a deal chicken for this, it really has potential to be cute, but I had some major concerns. First the wine that came with our pedicure was a $2.99 bottle, not that I need or was expecting something of high quality, but it really wasn't even drinkable. The two girls were unorganized, and a bit gossipy, but overall really genuine and kind. The thing that upset me was that they were reusing old nail files which is not sanitary. My gel is not even and is touching my skin on parts. The massage was short also. With a little work this place could be cute, but it is not quite there. read more

I have followed Adina for 6 years. She has opened her salon, "Shear Pearl," at a new location in the North West side of Reno. She is on the corner of Mae Anne and Sierra Highlands in the shopping Center with Renown Medical Group and Bully's on the other end. Theirs plenty of parking. What I love about her new location is that its smack in the middle of everything. I can get my errands and shopping done all in the same area, even my dentist is up the street. Kohl's, Staples, Raleys, Safeway and Walmart. That is very convenient for me. She does my hair color, cut and style, nails and pedicures. She is wonderful and always take the time to do a wonderful job. She accommodated me because I was very hard on my nails, so she built them up so they never cracked or fell off. She is very creative and quite the artist when it comes to specialized artistry on your nails. Her prices are very reasonable, you do need to make your appointment at least a week in advance but she will call you if she has an opening. I recommend her to everyone. read more

I did the Deal Chicken too. I disagree with prior review that didn't like the seating. I loved it! I also really liked that they don't use the recirculating type tub because those are a health risk from the bacteria in the jets. So what if it's not high end wine. That's not what you came for anyway. I thought it was a nice touch. I've only had the pedicure for a few hours. It looks great now. I'll let everyone know if it doesn't last. read more

I found this gem through a Deal Chicken for a girlfriend pedicure with wine. The wine that was served was good quality - Chateau St. Michelle Riesling - which while not an expensive wine at the store most restaurants sell it for $6-$10 per glass! I loved being able to share the pedicure experience with a friend and we had lots of time to chat and relax. After such a great pedicure, I decided to book an appointment for a hair cut and color. Adina (the owner) is talented beyond measure - I am thrilled that Deal Chicken turned me on to this salon and I haven't looked back! I get compliments on my hair (the cut and color) and finally feel like I found the perfect salon. There is some gossip that goes on but HELLO it is a salon and it's fun to dish with a few girls on music, pop culture, boys, etc.! Had a NIGHTMARE in the works, my fiancé had a melt down because her OLD hair style and color was SO bad, it brought her to tears. Adina (thank GOD for her) was able to actually get my fiancé in on a SUNDAY NIGHT and do the cut and color my fiancé wanted. We even set it up as a surprise, Adina helped orchestrate the surprise and my fiancé was so happy and surprised she started crying happy tears. She will definitely be going back here for all of her regimens. Also, a nice little surprise was that she had a glass of wine ready to go when we walked in the door. This was a total win! I am super grateful for Adina coming to my fiancé's rescue and taking us in on such short notice (and not to mention it was also Sunday!) Some of those "big box" salons would have just looked the other way, Adina cares about her customers. What a great business woman, My fiancé said she will never go anywhere else again. I took my daughter for a pedicure using the deal chicken offer. We had a nice time and the pedicure looks great. Not a fancy spot, but I've paid a lot more and not had someone spend as much time. It was nice to get the two pedicures at the same time and be able to talk to the person I went with. The glass of wine was nothing expensive, but tasty and certainly drinkable. read more
