I've been bringing my Louie here since she opened. I'm now adding a 2nd dog and there's no one else around I would trust with my babies.

They all had a vet visit coming up the next week so I asked friends for a recommendation on Facebook and one of my friends said she had taken her small dog to Pooch Palace. I couldn't find any reviews for them online and there was only one picture of a dog on their Facebook page. However I trusted my friend's opinion and Pooch Palace is literally 5 mins away from my house. I called and spoke to the owner, Linda. I explained we have always groomed our Aussies, Justin & Bella so they had never been to a professional groomer before but they always just sit there while we did it but the Lhasa Apso Pooh, was a rescue and we had only had him a little over a month so we didn't know how he would do with being groomed. She quoted me a price over 60.00 cheaper than the next place on my list of groomers in the area. So we made an appt. On April 3rd my husband dropped all 3 dogs off and was told it would be 20.00 more than she quoted as she didn't realize how big our Aussies were. I did tell her over the phone they were 75 lbs and 89 lbs. She also mentioned to my husband she used to be a vet tech and had ACE if she needed to use it on the dogs to calm them. She said she would call if she needed to use it. My dogs were NOT to be drugged. We would just pick them up. We never got a call asking to use it so we assumed they did fine. She called to say they were done and ready to go. She said they were just perfect for her. Being a typical man my husband just picked them up and paid her. I walked in the door from work and almost started to cry. I said they look like Chupacabra's. They were shaved to the bare skin except for a patch of fur here and there she missed. Most of their body was completely smooth like they had been waxed. No hair at all. They are both red merles. They were completely white. They had razor burns and cuts all over their bodies. Their toenails were split from being ground down incorrectly. All 3 were snapping, growling and biting at invisible things in the air , on the walls and each other. Pooh got on the couch and slept for 12 straight hours. Justin and Bella laid on the floor and didn't move 6 hours. All 3 of my dogs had been drugged. I was too furious to think straight. I blamed myself for not only taking my dogs to be butchered, we actually paid her to do this to them. After I calmed down I called on April 7th and spoke to Linda who couldn't not even recall my dogs. She kept asking over and over what my name was. What the dogs names were. What breed they were. Was I sure we came to her as she did not recall our dogs and didn't have a card on file for them. It had literally been 4 days since they were there. I explained everything to her and she stated she only uses a #10 blade on all the dogs she grooms no matter their size. She said she opened a brand new blade for my dogs. She just said she couldn't even recall my dogs yet now she knows she used a brand new blade on them? The vet said the cuts and burns were from using an old dull blade. That the heat and friction from pulling their fur and skin with the dull blade did that to their bodies. She stated she did not drug my dogs. Just a minute ago she couldn't remember my dogs? She said she thought they looked fine. Yet again the dogs she just couldn't remember looked fine? She apologized profusely and said she don't know what happened to my dogs? She got my address and said she would have a refund check in the mail to me tomorrow. I didn't understand why I had to wait on a check. Her business is cash only and we handed her almost 200.00 in cash. However I said fine. I will wait on the check. She apologized some more. Starting the first night none of the dogs would move from the porch even to potty without being forced. They vet said they were hypersensitive and everything touching their bare skin such as bushes and blades of grass was freaking them out. I had to put shirts on my dogs. Then cones on my dogs because all their cuts were getting infected from them constantly licking them. All 3 were on numerous steroid creams and sprays. All the progress we had made with Pooh who came from an abusive home was destroyed. We had to start all over again. It took over a month to get him back to his behavior before he went there. Justin now has a bald spot on his back where one of his deeper cuts was. That hair did not grow back. His winter coat does hide the bald spot. She ruined my dogs for life. They will never trust another groomer. They all went ballistic trying to get out the door when I turned on the clippers to trim my sons hair last week. STILL WAITING ON THAT REFUND!!!!

Well, the time comes for her to watch my dog, she doesn't answer/return any of my phone calls. I ended up driving to Lake City to board my dog for the days spent at the springs. Went down to the gate right after I last spoke with her, and the ground was dry and hard, and no signs of her truck tires sinking into it. That worked, but then a year ago we moved and I had to find another vet willing to take him. Shores Animal Hospital was the PERFECT solution. At the last vet in Delray Beach, he was totally sedated. As I said, that worked but it was hard on him and hard on me. At Shores though, Dr. Johnson implemented the "Tuft's Protocol" and that was soooo much better. He just becomes so relaxed that the groomer, Ashleigh at Shores Prestige Pet Resort (who is terrific), can get him bathed and clipped. I also use Shores to keep Harley up-to-date on his shots and medical. I cannot say enough things about Dr. Johnson there. She is both kind an thorough and makes it a point to update me after every visit even if he is only there for grooming. I love Shores Animal Hospital, and I am sure you will too!

The problems are two-fold.Charging $7.50 for 1 syringe to put in the sharps bucket? The sharp container depending on the size holds 120-500 syringes! Imagine the profit off one sharps box! Hazard waste pick up should be around $ 150 tops ber box. Say $ 50 for needles and syringes. I understand costs of bio-hazard but that is utterly ridiculous! There were other issues, but after the ridiculous cost to drop a syringe into the sharps that was enough for me.
