Grocery store is very clean and orderly, with fruits out in the front and vegetables inside the store as well. My fruit bowl was freshly made, even though some of the fruits were really sour. I'm reviewing their little outpost stand outside of Trader Joe's on Court St and am too lazy to create a new Yelp listing for it. That said, I was in the area and wanted some fresh fruit. The prices here were pretty good. Avocados were 3/$2, and boxes of strawberries were 2/$4. The avocados were small, but very good. The strawbs however, not as much. Between the two boxes, maybe half of them were good and not overripe/mushy. The ones that were just the right amount of ripe were very sweet though. I've been shopping here for 3 years. Every time I go, someone follows me around to check if I'm stealing anything. How disgusting.

Entering this store is like getting yourself into a vipers' nest. There are a few (3 so far) cashiers that hate humanity with passion. Two of them are not there anymore as of recently (thank God!), and one is still there. I told the manager they need to train them, they did not understan d the concept. Also, BEWARE - once they sold me a bag of lemons that had a printed black-and-white label saying "Organic", for $8. Then I was in another store and saw SAME EXACT bag of lemons, Sunkist Citrons, without the printed label and sold as non-organic for twice as little - $4. I tolerated this for a long time, it's time to tell the world. DO NOT BUY ORGANIC FROM THIS STORE!!! THEY ARE SCAMMING YOU! read more

They pastry and cakes are not fresh at all... the strawberries are def not organic!! I saw the workers throwing out berries from the packaging and replacing it with something. I think they messed up and put non organic strawberries in organic containers. You can see that some strawberries are much smaller than the other (I cut the stems out). Organic strawberries are always small, they can't be this big. I am not paying a higher price for non organic strawberries, this is a scam! Extremely disappointed. I've been coming here for 20 years. I love the variety of their selection, the quality of their foods, and they are open 24 hours. That being said, it is absolutely atrocious that during the Covid-19 pandemic when there is a sign on the door requiring customers to wear masks, I went shopping here and saw at least 5 employees (including cashiers) either not wearing a mask or not wearing them properly (i.e., only over their chin or failing to cover their noses), three employees were outside the door in very close proximity to each other and none were wearing a mask, and I saw at least six customers not wearing a mask; I had to walk down the aisle just to avoid someone walking toward me. The employees should set an example by wearing masks and enforcing the policy (that is stated on a sign on the front door) for customers to wear masks. The cashiers should not be talking to their friends (who are not wearing masks) on the side of the check-out counters, while at the same time, interacting with a customer that is at the check-out counter. I am an essential worker. I interact with the public on a daily basis. I simply can't take the risk of being infected with a deadly disease while shopping because the food store employees don't want to comply with basic requirements set forth by the Department of Health. If I have to wear a mask when I see clients and customers, all employees and managers of every store should also wear a mask. read more

I am regular. they have interesting selections of soups. However packaging very poor quality. Large containers and lids do not hold hot soups inside and gets destroyed by the time i get home. Laissez-faire economics is the name of the game in this market. They are good about selling expired or opened before cans and jars. Check the dates and condition of jars and cans! They exposed their cooked deli foods to flies. If you order a sandwich, they don't wash the lettuce they get from a lettuce head. Some of the workers don't bathe, so their b.o. is off the charts. I remember when they were selling single face masks for $20 during the pandemic. If you get bread from their baker, they use flimsy plastic bags that sometimes rip apart on unsuspecting customers. Worker was seen picking up the bread off the floor and putting it into another bag like nothing bad had happened. They have a stupid work condition where every fruit and vegetable is given a price sticker. Many customers are nasty too, plucking up olives, grapes, nuts, ... and tossing them into their mouths while shopping, getting a free meal in the process. As the bus was heading towards Avenue Z and Ocean Avenue, I was looking outside of the window and saw Sheepshead Bay Fruits and Vegetables Market. I thought to myself "Wow!..the watermelon and other fruit present in the outer display look absolutely juicy, ripe and delicious! My mouth began to water....and that is when I decided to get off of the bus and go into the market. Upon the outer display, I saw wonderful bowls of prepared mixed fruit salad and I decided to get a bowl of sliced watermelon. Inside of the market is beautiful! Apples, Peaches, Nectarines etc....every piece of fruits and vegetables looked fresh! The place is clean and the items are affordable! Along with the watermelon, I also purchased some green grapes and a nectarine. When I got to the register, I was pleasantly surprised that my total was only $5.82!.....A great price for some spectacular looking fruit! I knew at that moment that I would be coming back to get more fresh produce. I inquired about the market hours and the cashier informed me that I this place is open 24 hours!!!...Jackpot! This place is like produce heaven. They have a wide selection of fresh produce at a convenient price. I've tried the watermelon and plums, pineapples, kumquat cherry tomatoes & cucumbers. They were all delicious. The supermarket is a big place with groceries plus produce and salad bar and hot bar. They also have gender neutral restrooms. The customer service was average. Horrified. I always come here to buy my groceries since it is close to home. During this pandemic I trusted to come here again for supplies and to my surprise, there was a man without a mask coughing as he picked up loose fruit and vegetables. A female in the store was so afraid that she had been infected by him that she cried and ran out. The workers that were standing around did nothing. We asked why he isn't being kicked out and they said nothing. All they did was offer us hand sanitizer. I am afraid for my health and others in this area because of this incident. I always thought they were very overpriced, however the variety of fruit has always been superb and everything was fresh. I am no longer going to be stopping in and they will not get a penny from me. It is generally much cheaper than the Stop and Shop down the block, and I have literally *never* gotten a bad piece of fruit here (unlike the Stop and Shop down the block.) They run frequent specials on different fruits and vegetables - it is not rare to find generally more expensive produce like bell peppers or tomatoes for $1/lb. The bakery is also solid - a little on the more expensive side (~$4 for a loaf) but all really good quality and baked daily. The service is not the friendliest - cashiers often seem a little put out that you're there - but it isn't the worst / blatantly rude. It's a bit of a rarity to hear "have a nice day." Where I do stand with my past review that the fruits are beautiful and that there are absolutely an excellent selection of goods from almost globally, I do not stand with extreme generalizations and comments on my race- in addition to the absolutely rude behavior of many of the people who work here. I have been visiting this supermarket for years for the reasons above but I'm not really sure how I feel about it anymore as I can't endorse a business whose staff can't be polite. I was waiting for my mother outside, just looking at the selection of fruits and one of the people cutting watermelon looked at me and laughed and proceeded to say something that mimicked Chinese. His buddy chimed in as they both giggled as if it was the most hilarious thing ever. I wasn't really sure what to say- that was just so ignorant! I was really appalled and just walked inside. It was so odd because I don't think that I ever noticed this before, but one of the men working there kept glaring at me while I was looking at produce! And just me and my mother- nobody else. We were also the only Asians in the store, so I'm getting the vibe that this group of people aren't too welcoming towards Asians. I have found my new favorite grocery store in my neighborhood! We have lived here for years and have constantly been shopping at stop and shop- I wish I knew about this place years ago! My husband and I recently purchased a juicer so we wanted to stock up on some additional veggies for our juicing escapades. Rather than pay the high prices stop and shop has, we thought to head over here to see what fruits they had in store. We were so pleasantly thrilled with their variety- especially in organic products. We thought this was a simple fruits and veggies spot, but we were dead wrong. They have a great deli section (with great polish kielbasa and other polish goods). We even picked up some Armenian string cheese to try out. Unbelievable selection of vegetables, fruit, dried snacks, Russian specialties, smoked meats and sausages, candies, breads and anything else you can think of. The selection is astounding, for example I spent 20 minutes just looking at their selection of honey. They also have large selections of teas, and coffee and chocolates. This is a large and recently expanded fruit and grocery store in Sheepshead Bay , Brooklyn. I've passed by several times when visiting friends. There is a large selection of fruits and vegetables, even exotic and ethnic. The organic section has expanded with package salads, some fruits and vegetables, but the prices are quite high compared to a Whole Foods Market or a local cooperative market. The bread selection is quite good too. Towards the back, there is a large dessert area with cakes, sweets and whatever you want for a sugar rush. There are dozens (literally) of varieties of apples, pears, oranges, melons, etc. available here that you just can not find anywhere else in New York. PLUS, the quality of their produce is excellent, and they have organic produce also! As are the prices! It is almost too good to be true! And they are open 24 hours a day...365 days a year!!! This place is great for certain things. It's akin to a Trader Joe's in size, but with a lot more fresh fruits/veggies. In fact it's 50% fresh food versus 20-30% at TJs. They beat the latter in terms of perishable goods. Amazing selection of green fare, from melons you'd expect to melons you've never seen. The cheese deli is also solid. Dry goods are fair, to "better than fair" if you're into Russian/E. Euro standards (pickled everything). Clean, modern, well stocked. I'm not near but will spend a half hour on the train to go there again. It's not that great for meats, which is why they don't rate higher. What fish/beef/pork they have is cured/in sausages.
