I recently moved to Rio Vista and was excited to try New Image Salon after reading so many positive…read morereviews. As a new client, I was hoping to find a stylist I could return to regularly. I don't mind paying premium prices for excellent service--in fact, I expect a premium experience when I'm paying around $50 for a haircut. New clients are an opportunity to earn a loyal customer, but I left feeling dismissed and unimportant. I booked a 4:30 p.m. appointment, arrived early, and still had to wait past my appointment time. There were several other clients waiting as well, so it felt more like waiting for a medical appointment than a salon visit. Andrea cut my hair, but the appointment felt impersonal from the beginning. Although I knew her name because I had booked with her, she never introduced herself, acknowledged me by name, or even asked who I was when I arrived. As a first-time client, that immediately made the experience feel impersonal rather than welcoming. Throughout the appointment, I got the impression that the goal was simply to get through the haircut rather than provide a relaxing experience. One thing that really surprised me was that there was no shampoo or wash. My hair was simply misted with water before being cut. As she started cutting, I realized she was essentially giving me a dry haircut, so I asked if she was doing a dry haircut. She replied that she wasn't, which confused me because my hair had only been lightly sprayed with water before she began cutting. Since the salon doesn't list its prices or explain what is included with each service, I wasn't expecting to pay around $50 for what felt like a very basic haircut. Throughout my appointment, Brando interrupted the haircut several times to discuss business matters with Andrea. The conversations appeared to be about shop expenses and other operational topics that, in my opinion, could have waited until my appointment was finished or been handled by text or email. Brando never seemed concerned that he was interrupting a paying customer's appointment. In addition, other customers who appeared to know Andrea stopped to chat with her while she was cutting my hair. As a first-time client, it felt strange to have my appointment repeatedly interrupted by conversations unrelated to my service. Between the business discussions and the social conversations, I felt like my appointment and my time were not being treated as the priority. Neither Andrea nor Brando acknowledged the interruptions or apologized, which made the experience feel even less attentive and professional. I also brought a reference photo. The initial cut wasn't what I had asked for, and when I mentioned it, I was told it matched the picture. I disagreed, but to Andrea's credit, she listened after I explained what I wanted and adjusted the cut until I was happy with the final result. I genuinely like the haircut. My disappointment isn't with the final haircut--it's with the overall experience. For the price, I expected attentive service, transparent pricing, fewer interruptions, and a more relaxing atmosphere. I don't mind paying premium prices when the service reflects it, but this experience didn't. As a new client, I wanted to feel welcomed and valued, not like an afterthought. In my profession, I teach customer service skills and how positive customer interactions build long-term loyalty and retain customers. That's why this experience stood out to me. Small things--respecting appointment times, minimizing interruptions, greeting new clients by name, introducing yourself, and making the customer feel like the priority--make all the difference. Unfortunately, those fundamentals were missing during my visit. The salon didn't just lose a one-time customer; it lost someone who had recently moved to Rio Vista, was looking for a long-term stylist, and was more than willing to pay premium prices for a premium experience. The final haircut was nice, but the overall service experience did not match the expectations that came with the price.

Melissa!! She listens, is calm and takes a sincere desire in accommodating her clients.read more
