Before entering this place, I was already annoyed at another place for discriminating me because I wasn't Indian. Anyways, the owners of this shop made me feel very welcomed. They gave me a few outfits to try on to find out my size. After finding out my size we then went on to trying out what outfits were in season. I truly enjoyed my time there. After finding the outfit and trying it on for them to see, they even advised me to alter a few areas. I kept telling them it was fine, but they wanted me to look good in the outfit so I alter the dress a little. THE TYPE OF DIFFERENCE IT MAKES 100%. We needed Saris and Nehru outfit for our friends 40th wedding vow renewal. The husband and wife team are excellent in customer service and very friendly. They showed us many options (they have a huge selection to choose from) and helped with jewelry selections for our saris. Everything was altered and arrived on time for the wedding as promised! Our friends are in their 70's and they took such care to fit them properly! I have been back for additional purchases and will continue to go back - definitely no need to go out of town for saris with such excellent selection and great customer service that they provide here. There is a large selection of clothes and accessories here, and alterations are free. The window and wall displays are gorgeous, but definitely were not in my price range. My boyfriend and I were on the hunt for clothes to attend a wedding, with a budget of about $150 each in mind. Nasreen picked me an outfit, and Malik helped my boyfriend find something with a matching color. I wasn't a huge fan of the fit and look of my first outfit, so I asked if they had something with a more modern style. She then brought out a beautiful and stylish 2 piece outfit which I fell in love with! I also ended up buying some matching bangles; they have a ton of different colors to match any outfit. There were a LOT of loose thread ends that I had to trim off, and some very small missing detail pieces, but other than that we were very happy with the end results. Would come back again. read more

I went to this place to get a kurtha for a friend's engagement ceremony. The owner seemed nice enough, and helped me with a kurtha (of which they had a very limited selection). It was for an official ceremony and I was trying to match my girlfriend's saree, who was in the cermony. I wasn't able to check in with the bride about the outfit, so I just decided to buy it and return if she didn't end up liking it. This seemed perfectly reasonable to me. When I did hear back from the bride (who didn't like the kurtha), I called the store back to let me know that I would be returning the item. It was only then that I was notified that they do not accept returns at all, and the best I could do was get an exchange. It had been less than 24 hours since the purchase and I had yet to even wear the outfit (aside from trying it on in the store). Since their selection was VERY limited, an exchange was really not an option, so I asked for a refund nonetheless. Not only did they flat out refuse this, but the owner even told me that "the policy was clearly written on the receipt" and "no one put a gun to my head" telling me that I had to buy the outfit. I know that this is a small family business, but this deplorable level of customer service is what causes businesses to fail. Do yourself a favor and just shop on Amazon. Their prices are MUCH better and they allow returns. AVOID THIS BUSINESS. read more

I was shopping for an Indian wedding I was attending and randomly came across Sheetal. I was just going to buy some bangles because I LOVE Indian fashion, but I'm a white girl and I feel lost in Indian clothing stores... but they made me feel right at home! They had some seriously fabulous pieces displayed in the window and as I walked in, I was blinded by the aurora of sequins and bright color! There were some items on racks but most of the women's clothing were packaged in cubbies along the wall. I was staring at the wall of packages when an older gentleman (the owner? manager?) assisted me. He was *so* polite and helpful. I didn't even know the clothing names or the terminology, so he started simple: do you want a dress or a suit? What kind of silhouette do you like? What colors do you like? He showed me so many items... he took each one down from the wall, unwrapped it, carefully laid it out for me to examine. If I didn't like it, he carefully rewrapped it and grabbed me another one. I felt bad because I was like a kid in a candy store, but he helped me for 30 minutes without complaint. All his searching on my behalf led me to a gorgeous turquoise anarkali suit. I had such a good experience, I ended up spending much more money than I anticipated. At least I had sparkling bangles, jeweled earrings and a beautiful anarkali to show for it! :D I've been there 3 times now and have had a good experience each time. My brother in law was getting married and I needed an appropriate sari for the very special Indian wedding. There are SO many types of saris, especially on line, I wanted to make sure I was dressed appropriately. After looking thru Yelp, I found Sheetal Fashion and decided to make the drive out to their store and hope that the reviews were true about friendly service. I cautiously entered the store. Although it appears small, they have a very large selection of saris, lengha, anarkali suits and much more. The store is run by a husband and wife team and they are both immediately warm, engaging and friendly. I told the wife what I needed and what my budget was. She brought out three beautiful sari's in my range and once I made my selection, she wrapped me in the sari to show me how to put it on. I was worried I wouldn't be able to put it on as expertly and she offered to sew the sari so that the pleats were affixed to a belt that I could tie around my waist, only needing to wrap the remaining around my body and over my shoulder. With all of the necessary alterations, I was worried it wouldn't be ready in time for the wedding....I waited 3 days before to purchase my sari (bad me). She made alterations in 2 days - but the final touch that has made me a loyal customer was this: While choosing a sari, one of the tops had some beautiful ties with beads that hung from the back. The sari I chose did not. When I came to pick up my sari after the alterations were complete, she added ties with gorgeous beads onto my top! Not only did she remember me commenting on it, she went out of her way to make the addition! Bottom line, Sheetal Fashion is kind, friendly and will work within your budget. The alterations are incredibly affordable. With so many big stores in our world, you forget what real customer service is. This store is a diamond and I will never feel the need to go to Berkeley to Sari Palace when Sheetal Fashion is right here in my city. read more

I came to Sacramento for my boyfriends friends indian wedding. It was my first time attending one. I was excited yet nervous because I didn't know anything about it. My client let me borrow her saree that was absolutely amazing. But I needed the undershirt since we aren't the same size and I needed mayor help on rapping the saree on me. I had now idea. I yelped places and came across this one. I chose it because of the good reviews. Even though it was a little bit out of my way I decided to go anyway. When I got there the lady helped me right away. The first shit she showed me was exactly what I was looking for. It needed to be fitted to me. She said for when do u need it for? I said right now. She laughed and said no problem. She went and altered it for me in 5 mins. While her husband helped me pick out bangles and a head piece. He was awesome too and knew exactly what I needed. When she was done with my shirt she helped me get dressed and I left all dressed all I needed was make up and hair. When I was done getting ready I was so happy with everything. I looked amazing!!!!! My head piece was my favorite thing! I want to wear it again. I left so happy. I suggest everyone should visit them for whatever you need for anything indian attire. Terrible customer service. Apparently they don't like you checking the outfits before buying them. They have a huge sale sign on the front of their store but it's not much of a sale. Indian outfits are in plastic bags so I opened a few in my size only and started looking at them. The old, grumpy guy started yelling at me and when I yelled back, he didn't like that. He told me " as a woman, I shouldn't be..." and that's all I needed to hear. And his wife chimes into the convo. Awful couple and their clothes are dull and overly priced. This place is located in an unassuming strip mall in Sacramento. It's not fancy but it had a good selection of outfits. Most importantly, the owner and his wife are awesome! I am not Indian but I was shopping for several outfits for a wedding. I came in knowing what I wanted and also my price point. I tried on at least a dozen outfits and after an hour, I picked out two. Overall, it was a great experience. I highly recommend this place for its reasonable prices and helpful owners who were soooo patient. I walked in not knowing what to expect. Was it going to be super expensive? Would there be a large selection with modern styles that I was looking for? I was beyond pleasantly surprised with the prices and styles! So many options in my price range, I instantly found several Kurti tops and bottoms that I loved and perfect for the event I needed them for (Also so many dresses and sarees that I couldn't take my eyes off of). The woman was the one who was helping me find an outfit. They have a few outfits hanging up on the walls but most of them are inside a room. First off, I wanted to check out this place because of the 4 star review, however, my experience was nothing close to that. I've been to numerous Indian clothing stores and his is by far the smallest store with limited selection. In the beginning, the lady and man appeared to be welcoming and helpful. After looking through several outfits and trying on a couple, I didn't find what I was looking for. Once the lady knew that I will not be buying any clothes, she immediately changed her attitude. I can feel the immediate change from her "welcoming" vibe to a negative vibe. Before I left, I thanked her for her time showing me those outfits (which I feel were very typical and nothing special, also overpriced). Instead of a nice reply back, she gave no answer and gave me the dirtiest look I have ever seen anyone give to a customer. I am not too sure if this is her way of a business approach to get a customer to buy her clothing, but I for sure will not be going back. Ps... If you are wondering about this place, don't waste your time. Check out Chawla Emporium, just a few minutes down the street. They have great customer service and don't make you feel like you wasted their time even if you didn't purchase anything. read more
