I have found myself travelling through West Virginia a lot to get back to the DMV and get to seem some amazing places along the way. My most recent trek took me through this portion of West Virginia and I had to pull over for a few reasons. Leaving early, I needed to stop at one point to refuel my vehicle and fuel myself. I first pulled in and up to a pump. For the early morning hours, sun just coming up, this place was bustling. However, not overcrowded and allowed for me to pull, scan, pump and pay and move my vehicle in no time. Went inside and used the facilities as it was a long haul before getting here. Once facilities were out of the way, I shuffled over to the tap screen to place a breakfast order. Being in no hurry to get going to my final destination as I had other places to stop, I decided to dine in. When I paid, and my food was ready, I went into the dining room area to devour the food. Two breakfast sandwiches and an order of fries. I wasn't feeling the hashbrowns when I could go the fries route and get more for my buck. I took a seat at the window so I could people watch in between bites and TikTok swipes. This hit the spot and refueled me on two levels. I got my vehicle topped off and my stomach.

Prices for fuel are what they are, but it's like this wherever you go. Parking is plentiful, and what a nice dining area too. Coffee kicks, and the MTO system is solid. Great views of mountains from here also. You will feel welcomed to do business here. Much friendlier than most places. This is important whether in the area, or as my son and I like for a break before or after skiing. Glad to recommend this location!

My friend needed to get some Husky snuff. He buys it by the roll of five cans rather than individual cans, because it is always cheaper that way. No matter where you go, that is the standard. The lady at the counter went to ring up the roll, and it came to $12 and some change. The new manager/owner, whatever he is, says " oh no, no no! That old price, that old price!" So he deleted the roll she rang up and proceeded to scan one individual can, five times! That brought the price to nearly $16! I turned on my friend's son, and said "he is ripping us off big time!" I felt sorry for the lady at the register, she was clearly frustrated and truly apologetic for what he was doing. We also had an issue with the cheese we purchased. We should have known the price price was too good to be true. $3.99 a pound. So we bought two hunks of cheese, one was supposed to be American, when we got home, we discovered that he gave us horseradish cheese. Not only that, it is not real cheese. It is processed cheese food! It is truly nasty. We can't even eat it. We will never return to the store. I feel sorry for the lady that was working the counter, I don't see her staying there much longer under the new management. He is a total jerk.

Once you pass this station, there are 87 miles before a major stop enroute to this major resort. And even though here are a number of places in both Petersburg and Morefield, this is my favorite place of all. And, of course, polite, cheerful, and courteous counter clerks. But the store needs to be brought up-to-speed for today's on the go customer. Redoing the bathroom would also be a plus. Yes, the interior has snacks and supplies galore as well as most of the terrific "order from the touch screen" conveniences we've come to expect from Sheetz. But the store is a bit dated and dingy. My guess is that Sheetz will eventually get around to modernizing this location as it has with nearly all of its other stores. When they do, I'm sure it will rate a 4.

I would give this place six stars if I could. I can't believe I've driven by it for years,…read morepossibly decades, and never knew what was inside. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've stopped her to get gas before and knew about the liquor store but had no idea about the pepperoni roll bakery hidden inside! Pepperoni rolls are near and dear to my heart. They are comfort food from home. I have rarely found them outside of West Virginia so when I visit I pretty much eat a pepperoni roll diet for a week. The pepperoni rolls here are a bit different. They are soft and light and fluffy. Most of the ones I find are made from a thicker bread that's heavy and dense. I find the pepperoni and cheese ratio in these to be perfect. Not too much of any one ingredient. I tried the special of the week which was Crab Rangoon and I wish I didn't--not that it was bad, it just wasn't a real pepperoni roll. Then of course I got a regular one and a jalapeño one. My son got one regular and as we at them in the car he asked if he could have another so I gave him my card and back he went. They were about $4.50 each. Later when we came back through town after going to Blackwater and Douglas Falls, he asked for yet another and of course I obliged. I took mine to Blackwater Falls and ate it there. Nothing like enjoying West Virginia's most iconic waterfall while eating its most iconic food (sorry WV Slaw dogs). The liquor store here is convenient. Prices were only slightly marked up except on one bottle. The distillery and other stores have it for $65-69 and they had it for $110. I would have purchased it for the real retail price. They had a great selection of WV bourbons which was very nice. We will definitely be stopping here now each time we pass through, especially since Hellbenders closed.
