Sheldon Chumir is an amazing facility; more like a mini hospital. I go there to get blood work done for my doctor's 3 month reviews. The security is pretty tight and you have to line up at 6 foot distance where you get screened and given new masks and sanitizer. The building is very clean; rather plain but still comfortable, I like going to the facility because the greeting staff are so friendly. If you ever have a chance go experience it.

Boo! Dont these pica usually take place on a beach?

We are so, extremely fortunate to have a facility of this kind available to us. I am from a small city in northwestern Ontario. At the time I was living there, there were two viable options if you fell ill: 1. Book a doctor`s appointment 2. Go to emergency In Calgary, we are so fortunate to have not only doctors by appointment, but walk in clincs, urgent care clinics AND hospitals. I got a frantic text from one of my best friends asking me to come and get her, because she was a mess. She was diagnosed with strep throat the day before and was given antibiotics, but she was feeling a lot worse despite a day in bed, tylenol, plus the antibiotics. She had a fever of almost 102 and she felt extremely crappy and in a lot of pain. I have also had chronic cold/flu symptoms for the last month, and I am on day 8 of 10 of antibiotics, still not well, so I took this opportunity as a bonding experience to help out my pleading friend, as well as possibly follow up on whether I need another 10 days of antibiotics. During our four and a half hours at Urgent Care, this is what worked well and didn`t work: What worked well: 1. Facility was clean 2. Every person I dealt with (nurse at check-in, clerk at triage, nurse when I was in my waiting room, AND the doctor) were all SUPER friendly and nice. If you read some of my other medical reviews, you will see that is not a consistent experience, so I was impressed by that. I'm a nice person, so I like dealing with nice people. 3. It is evident they know what they are doing, because they obviously prioritize patients. Poor Marnie for strep, kept getting bumped for heart conditions, or more severe. It was unfortunate for her, but it is also comforting to see that they are on the ball. What didn`t work: 1. My parking was $16. I understand that building is on expensive inter-city property, but c`mon! 2. I saw a doctor (by fluke) within two hours, but my friend never did. She eventually gave up after 4.5 hours and is going to try again when she is better prepared for an even longer haul. All in all, this is a top notch facility. It is unfortunate my friend didn't get to see a doctor when she likely needed one more than I did. However, the reasons for it, in my mind, show that they are on the ball. They were also fantastic at communicating, bringing her glasses of ice and advil to help ease her symptoms during her entire stay. If you have to go, at least I feel comfortable I am in good hands.

I cried to go home due to their treatment and they didn't allow me since they had procedures of the "care" they need to give after delivery And I had to wait. When I i was my turn to face the nurse at the triage and taking my information she decided to take a long phone call. Very unprofessional. Normally I am a very patient person but I wanted to passed out. So I told heR I can't breathe and I need help. That was the only time she put the phone down. They took me in and let me say down for 30 min while I was struggling to breathe. Finally the RT came to help me with different puffs that didn't seem to work on my condition. But she was compassionate and kind. I was moved to a bed. The young nurse was kind. Another RT respiratory therapist came. Reason I am giving this hospital a star at all was for the RT. After 3 hours with no improvement on my lung funCtion but because my "vitals " were normal Dr Allison Foran insisted on discharging me for the reason that my vitals were normal. Nobody even counted my Respiratory rate since I came in. I was in moderate respiratory distress and she thinks the computer vitals is good enough to discharge me with my wheezing audible without using a stethoscope. I am a doctor too in my country. And we do not let a patient go with wheezes who can crash on his way out of our hospital . The only person who waNted me to stay was the respiratory therapist. Dr Foran you better review your books again and use your better judgement. You have a long way to go and patient care lives in the heart. Being a doctor is a privilege to help because you know better. It is not an authority to use because your protocol says so. I have Not slept because my wheezes has not stopped but I am better at home than there when I know my doctor does not care but to empty a bed. When I come back I am pretty sure I will request for another doctor. Your nurses need to know why they serve too. Nobody even gave me a blanket and I was shivering. I was moved from a bed to a corner where no one can see me. We are all in the hEalth profession because we love people to get better and to offer hope. You are all young and already yOu all work Like you are aBout to retire. If you do not change your attitudes then you are alL in the wrong profession : you can all learn from the Reapiratory teaM.

My dentist calls me every 4 months for a cleaning or checkup. When was the last time I had a blood test.?... 10 years! I know many have adequate medical care through established family practices via standard health care, but some don't. I did not. I think I knew something was not right and when I couldn't arrange a standard medical exam through my MD (after 1 year of trying and two misconnects) then I signed up for Copeman. After the intake questions and battery of exams and tests, it was found that essentially everything was off the charts. I was actually in pretty bad shape. Fortunately things were found early enough, I received some expert advice, and was able to get some lifestyle choices turned around before it was too late. The actual facility is centrally located, has easy off-street parking with nice (modern and clean!) offices and waiting room. There are nutritionists, physiotherapists, exercise kinesiologists, nurses, lab staff and counsellors available, but most importantly, physicians who actually take their hand off of the door handle when they talk to you. For lab tests, samples are all taken on site. This is the way health care should be. It is not luxurious, unless you compare it to the standard squalid waiting rooms at physicians' offices, usually located in dilapidated medical buildings with antique furnishings and equipment from the 60s. How we have come to accept the current state as acceptable is bewildering to me. While I feel a twinge of liberal guilt about the whole thing, this is a complicated issue with no easy answers. I was not willing to die waiting for politicians and government to figure it out. At $4K/ first year and $2.5K/year following (there are also family plans), it is certainly not for everyone. I am a supporter, and while this kind of service is not the answer to our current delivery problems, it just might be part of the solution.

I'm glad they have this sign because after waiting this long, at least my client felt justified to complain. I watched everyone else in the waiting room come and go, so I'm not sure what happened there. I liked that music was playing and there are nice photos of some of the physicians on display. I sat in on part of the meeting between my client and the doctor, who was rather lovely. She was soft spoken and friendly.
