This shell has faulty gas pumps (specifically pump #4) that will not stop dispensing gasoline when the tank is full. It caused gasoline to overflow on my car. The pumps also dispense really slowly so it takes forever to even do 4 gallons. Go to the other gas stations nearby. The attendants here are unhelpful and will blame you for this happening. Furthermore, the attendants are usually in the back and not attending to customers. Would put 0 stars if possible but cannot do so unfortunately. Careless attendants and faulty equipment make it unsafe as a pit stop along the I5. Go somewhere else or just put gas in Kettleman City. read more

EV charging review only: Electrify America stations were in good order. 6 stalls. Next to me was a Polestar and a Rivian. Rivian owners were walking their dog. Easy access to bathrooms. There's a burger place and the Subway across the road (inside the Countryside Market). Parking can be a little tight if you have a trailer but the end stalls looked like they had enough room. Stranded half way in my adventure with a dead battery; I contemplated who I could call, and impose upon, a two hundred mile journey. Rummaging through my tool kit I pulled out my battery charger, and thus began my quest for an outlet. Cast away by the Mobil station attendant; I roamed the lot asking fellow adventurers for a jumper cable, all for naught. Dejected; I Wandered over to the adjacent Shell station. I greeted the attendant with my now rehearsed story. A wave of elation followed as Ralph told me I could use the outlet out back by the restroom. I immediately wheeled my motorcycle over, and plugged the battery into the charger. Kicking it with Ralph as it charged. I found out he also rode, and even did some mods to his bike. Though since busy with customers, I left him to his business. Pulled a book out, and got some reading in. 30min later.. Plugged in the battery. I was all green. Not wanting to shut the bike off I was planning on trumpeting my engine to send my regards as I left. However I was pleasantly greeted by Ralph again, who was on his way to clean the bathroom. I was not super impressed with this Shell Station. The gas wasn't particularly cheap, but when you're in the middle of nowhere you can't be too picky. The bathrooms were pretty bad. You enter the restrooms from outside the building on the left. That's usually not a good sign when you have to enter from the outside. I was reassured by the sight of the Dyson airblade hand dryer, but not by all the toilet paper on floor. The toilets themselves appeared to be very clean, but the mirror over sink was a God awful mess, splashed with soapy water most likely splashed back from the sink. At least I HOPE that's where the splashes came from. Inside was advertised self serve frozen yogurt. There were four pairs of machines for a total of eight flavors, but only 3 had flavor signs on them. I was willing to settle for those three flavors, but the cashier informed me that none of them were working in a tone of voice that led me to believe that this happened pretty often. They carried a good selection of drinks in the cooler and munchies, both sugary and salty. There was a van full of teenagers that pulled up to get gas while I was there. They walked into the convenience store and walked right back out again and headed across the street to look for munchies. Not a fan. UPDATE: 2/14 - I was contacted by the manager who let me know that they were still in the process of training their employees to run the frozen yogurt machines at the time. I'll stop by on my next trip North and if the station shows signs of improvement I will update my review accordingly. read more

Flushed the urinal and water from the pipes absolutely drenched my shoes/feet. Went inside to warn the employees and neither cared at all--no apologies. All they said was "ok". There's a Mobil and 76 right across the street, maybe go there if you don't want piss feet. read more

Just thought I'd put this place on the map. We stopped by here on the way home from LA. Overhearing a conversation with the clerk and another customer, BF thought this city was called "Fireball". LOL It is the only gas station around for probably another 40-60 miles... So I recommend you FILL UP YOUR TANKS!!! It's crazy cuz it's like in the middle of nowhere. Why am I reviewing this gas station? Well, I'm getting used to driving up and down the 5 from SF to LA and you have to know which gas stations are OK to stop at and others not so much... This gas station is DEFINITELY on your avoid list. The restrooms are DISGUSTING. Seriously, there is a dyson hand dryer, but DIRTY DIRTY restrooms. We stopped here to use the restrooms, which were very clean! They had a lot of advertisements for their self-serve frozen yogurt, so we went inside to check it out. They had 8 flavors, plus a swirl between each one! They also had cup dividers to divide up your flavors which I had never seen before! They had a fair variety of toppings considering they were a gas station. F.Y.I: If you're on a road trip or traveling to the bay from SD like I was...the only reasons for you to stop here would be that you're close to driving 30 miles after you gas light turned on or you can out of gas and this was the closest gas station to push your car to! The service was HORRIBLE and the employee at the register was rude... Honestly, why would you ever tell a customer to get 4 cents from their car so you can just give them a dollar instead of counting out all the coins to give back their change! Really? How about you ask the customer if they have 4 cents and leave it up to them to decide if they want to walk back to their car to get it. One Word: Ruuuuuuuude... Another Word: Secuuuuurity! The bathrooms were disgusting and there were paper towels all over the floor near the sinks and the gas pump handle was broken and didn't have the latch to hold the trigger still to fill your tank with gas. Once I finished filling up my car with gas (and trust...it feels like forever when you have to hold the gas pump for a full tank of gas) I wanted to clean my windshield off that was covered with the poor insects who didn't make it... R.I.P little buggies! I got the squeegy and what do you know...there were no paper towels to wipe off squeegy off with. Worst part about this emergency gas stop was I paid $4.04/gal...what a rip off! These gas stations are something else and hike up the prices knowing that they are the only gas station for the next 30 mile. I guess its a smart business move but sucks for broke ass college students like myself. So bottom line...make sure you either carry a spare tank of gas in your car to avoid situations like mine or only stop here if it absolutely necessary because you don't feel like pushing your car on the freeway or calling a tow truck! Last week we stopped this Gas station to fill our car on the way to Kings Canyon for family camping and after we had lunch at Foster's Freeze next to this Shell gas station, our car didn't start. When we asked Rafael who worked at this Shell gas station for help, he came and helped us to jump the car, but our car still didn't start. So Rafael gave us a ride to Auto part store to buy a new battery which was about 18 miles away and he even gave us a ride back to our car! We could have been had very hard time because we don't know anybody in Fresno and we didn't have AAA either. But because of Rafael's kindness, we saved our time and money. CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS!!! On my way up north I stopped at this gas station, Shell, the name itself sounds respectful. Little did I know that they were shady... Went in to buy some candy I got a Hershey chocolate bar and some sour skittles, went to pay with my debit card wasn't able to see the price on the card machine. After paying I waited for my receipt... cashier said "good bye" or "goodnight." I asked "can i have my receipt?" he said "Oh I'm sorry" and handed it to me. I looked at it, $7.87 for 2 items I thought ??!!! I noticed a charge under "GROS for $2.99" my husband went back and confronted him . Cashier said "oh sorry it's a mistake" , he called other person from Mobil across street, We waited for about 20 minutes to get my money back.
