Like other reviewers, I was was robbed here. I stopped to refill my rental car on my way back to Oakland Airport. It was late morning and the station was busy. Nevertheless, I locked the car for security when I got out to pump gas. I had just put my card in the pump when I heard glass shatter behind me. It was so loud I thought the dark SUV next to my car had hit me. But no, they smashed the driver's side window, and reached across to take my bag from the passenger seat and quickly drove away. The manager of the gas station was completely unhelpful and even tried to say it was my fault for being robbed. As others mentioned, I believe the staff here has to be a party to this ongoing crime spree. Shout out to the nice other customers that tried to help. I was left to drive a car with the driver's seat covered in broken glass back to my hotel, since I did not feel safe waiting any longer at that location. I had to cancel my flight, and had no money and no ID to fly home to Seattle. Not to mention the loss of my other important items, like prescription medication. I had to cancel all of my credit cards, which the thieves proceeded to try to use at this very gas station! Please don't even stop here. We were robbed at this gas station a couple weeks ago. We had no idea how dangerous this gas station is. We had stopped at a gas station (76) before this to get gas and check tire pressure. That gas station had an armed security guard. Unfortunately the air wasn't working at that station and we drove into this Shell. We had luggage in the back seat. As soon as we sat in the car after filling air, the sedan backed up right next to us, a guy got out, opened our back door, took a bag and jumped into the waiting car which took off at high speed. We called 911 and were put on hold. Went inside but the employees did not have a clue as to what to do. They took our phone and gave us this recording from their cc cameras. Oakland, specifically the area where this Shell is located is a hot spot for such robberies. Wish we knew. Please avoid at all costs. read more

I would avoid this gas station at ALL COSTS. This space is an absolute HOTSPOT for robberies. According to the reviews--There's a consistent stream of robberies happening by thieves in this area. While on a trip away from home, Me and my mother have been robbed at this very gas station. Someone opened the car with ME IN IT- taking our bag. You will feel distraught and unsafe. to the gas station operator, sorry I had to post this. nobody thinks this would happen to them until it does. been flying to OAK regularly for almost a decade now. last friday, as I was filling up my rental car, a group was looking at my rental car window and trying to open all doors. Don't trust locking your car if you have one of those remote start key fobs because even if you lock your car while you're inside it, the proximity of the fob allows the trunk to be accessed even when you think it locks. I was robbed while filling my rental car. The station said their video camera doesn't capture much and they were very unhelpful, very dismissive. Also, the pump would not print my receipt and would have had to leave my car to go in. Very suspicious. Use the nearby Chevron as they literally have an armed guard standing by the islands. WORST customer service ever! I took a chance being early in the morning , didn't get robbed thankfully but I paid for a car was and wasn't given a code. Message said see cashier, I go inside to ask for a code, was told they don't provide the code. I explained I didn't receive a code and was told there was nothing she could do. Asked to speak to a manager she was the manager. I then just asked for a refund since I couldn't get the code, was told she couldn't give a refund. We went back and forth for about 5min, finally one of the other workers said just give her a wash or refund, and she finally gave me my money back . As a manager if you don't have the answer you should at least act like your trying to help but to just say I don't have a code and can't give you a refund is ridiculous, I was not asking for her to go above and beyond just to DO YOUR JOB. Ugh I will never patronize this place again, and after seeing the other reviews I'm not the only one. I would have given no star if it were an option. read more

I went out and discovered a medium sized suitcase had been stolen. We saw a burgundy sedan with a Hispanic male with a fluorescent vest driving off and didn't get the license plate. Just to preface my review is not for the gas or the minimart. My review is for the customer service that we didn't receive on our visit. My girlfriend and I needed to put gas in the rental and wanted to grab a drink. As we went inside to pay and get our drinks, we attempted to make pleasantries with the cashier. The theft grabbed my purse and my granddaughter is yelling at him put my purse back. So now I have no keys for my push button car, no cell and of course, this fool has all my other cards. Dont come here at night. This has happened on multiple occasions. they have 2 employees inside talking. The door is locked they put up a ghetto sign that says closed for 20 minutes. Grab my lotto forms start running them through the machine, rung my items then grab my money and handed me my change without thank you. She took time chatting with the customers in front of me with a smile saying "gracia" at the end of their transaction. One of the worst gasoline stations in the country! I'm amazed that this location uses the name "Shell." Several of the pumps were not working--and the one I used to refuel my rental car had to be "initialized." I walked inside three times asking for assistance--both of the employees were rude--acted as if I were interrupting them during their "8-hour coffee break," and made no effort to assist me. So I don't usually leave reviews for gas stations but the manager( Carlin) was so kind I have to... my friends flight was stuck on the runway and I needed gas... I figured since I can't park at the terminals (I tried) I should at least fill up... then my friend tells me I have to wait longer so I stopped here to fill up and use the restroom. .... I go to pay and he compliments my sour candy selection and asks me if this is it. I tell him this and ask if I can use your restroom.. "I figured buy my stuff first so you see I'm a customer then..." and he stops me. He tells me that's not necessary and he will wait with my items and hands me the key. I go and come back and thank him profusely because my friend is stuck and so on and I'm killing time driving around while I wait. He tells me I can park here while I wait! Even shows me security cameras so I feel the ok about staying here! I just picked shell because it was close but I WILL come back here.
