I know that planning your own wedding sounds like fun, but do yourself a favor and get a wedding planner. Now once you decide that, make sure you hire Shellie. Immediately when we were looking for a venue, no one was getting back to us. Once Shellie stepped in, that's when the communication really started to open up. She found us the venue, caterer, photographer and all the things in between and they were all within our budget. Shellie gives really great service and is easy to reach. We learned early on many vendors weren't returning calls and emails. She was the opposite. She thought of all the things that you don't think about (like remembering to get our marriage license. It's the most important thing yet no one thinks about it.) We had a weekly meeting on the phone since we lived out of town. We would go over all the things that we have already done and then schedule all the things that still needed to be done. She kept an updated timeline and altered it constantly to meet our needs. And whenever I thought "oh no I'm going to change something else on the timeline," she didn't mind changing it. There's so many things to think about leading up to the wedding day and Shellie had them all covered. This included even stocking our suites in hotel with snacks and beverages for the wedding day and she went to the store for us :). When we got in transportation to head to the venue, she even had our drink of choice in there. Fast forward to the week before the wedding... of course there is going to be some chaos and Shellie saved my mind from all the stressful things. When I told her I was still having a hard time deciding what vows should be said, she sent me some options that she thought sounded like my husband and I. She hit it out of the park. When I thought I was going to spend a whole afternoon figuring out what our officiant should say about our love story, she got on the phone with me and asked me all the questions and wrote a few rough drafts and got it down. She did it within a half hour. Talk about efficient! The day of the wedding was supposed to be outside. There were high winds causing a HUGE dust storm. She had already been watching the weather closely and had a Plan B already figured out. The wedding was moved inside and everything moved along smoothly. The morning of the wedding, Shellie was even waiting in the lobby and her assistant was at the venue. Vendors and wedding party couldn't get up the elevator since they weren't checked in and Shellie let them all up and was constantly checking in on myself and my husbands suites to see if we needed anything. She was the first to arrive that morning and last to leave the venue once it was cleaned up. I have always been someone that goes with the flow and know that everything always works out, but I know that it wouldn't have turned out nearly as well if we planned our day by ourselves. For a wedding, she was paid to plan our wedding and sent us invoices for services to take place on the wrong day! I am pretty sure that is the most important thing about a wedding and its planning is getting the day right. We tried to shrug some of the mistakes of as acceptable "accidents". Until we realized that Shellie was lying to us, and taking advantage of our trust in her. She told us that she received multiple "bids" for decorations, then said she could do them for cheaper. So of course like any trusting, budget minded couple, we paid her to do said decorations. When we started to realize that she was being dishonest with us, we questioned her. I asked to see the estimate she gathered prior to us paying her (shame on us for not getting them before and trusting her). The next day she sent over an invoice from a local rental company. I inquired with that rental company that looked up the invoice by the number, and told us it was created 1 hour after we asked her to furnish it! At that point we realized that she was screwing us. We then confronted her on the phone about lying to us, and told her that we knew she was taking advantage of us for her own personal gain. We asked her to explain herself when she promptly quit. Keeping all of our money. We had a two week back and forth with her lawyer about returning our money. Shellie wanted us to sign a confidentiality agreement. Shellie was an amazing wedding planner and so much more, I can certainly say that we wouldn't have been able to pull off the wedding without her dedication and help. We are from North Carolina but my family is from Salt Lake and we wanted to have our wedding where I grew up. This complicated the planning process significantly because neither one of us were able to actually be at the venue (or even travel to salt lake) more than once from rental of the venue to time of the wedding. This was why we decided to hire a wedding planner and I can't describe how fortunate I was to be able to work with Shellie. She was in constant communication with us over the seven (short planning time!) months that we had with her between venue rental and date of wedding. Once a week she'd give us a set of decisions and tasks to complete to help her with the planning. If we weren't able to make the week deadline she was never pushy and always supportive, I think the decisions were more to make us feel more involved in the process (I have no doubt that she'd be able to plan the entire thing with no input from us and it would have still been amazing). Out catering company even backed out two months before the wedding and Shellie handled everything! She contacted her favorite caterer and was able to get them to develop the same menu we had tasted and loved, all for a discount on the original caterers price! She also handled all the flowers (we gave her a pintrist of ideas we loved, she did the rest) and day of coordination throughout the entire wedding. I recently hired Shellie to coordinate the day of my wedding and I was completely satisfied with her services and could not have been any more pleased with how everything turned out. About 4 months before my wedding I was looking to hire a day of coordinator. It was a Jack and Jill shower that was perfect for men and woman. The food was delicious and really well organized. All the details were adorable, including the invitations themselves. Shellie is very easy to work with, organized, creative, and a lot of fun. I would highly recommend her for a wedding, shower, or any event you want to be a success! We hired Shellie about a year ago for full service wedding planning. We live across the country and were having a destination wedding in Park City Utah. Shellie set up a call after emailing us back and we were sold from the beginning. Being states away, it can be stressful wondering how everything will turn out. Our wedding was absolutely perfect! It was a couple months ago and our guests are still contacting us constantly saying is was by far the best wedding they have ever been to. I was initially not convince that we NEEDED a wedding planner, but Shellie made a BELIEVER out of me. We were planning our wedding from outside of Salt Lake, so getting we needed to maximize our time when we could visit to plan. Before the meetings Shellie asked our opinions so we could plan ahead and debate before we made a decision. During the meetings she asked important questions so vendors would understand our vision. On the day of the wedding she was everywhere without being in our ear! She had solutions and results for last minute problems and questions when we were unclear. If you are looking to get cheated out of money and lied to while planning your wedding, Shellie Ferrer is the wedding planner for you. We hired her back in April for our October wedding. All of the quotes she gathered for us, for rental items, transportation etc., were all incorrect. We caught her lying to us about a few things and when we asked her to clarify, she quit. We asked her to refund nearly $4,000 made in deposits, and she refused. With only 9 weeks until our wedding, we had nothing to show for our 4 months of contracting her. We also discovered that she has been in multiple lawsuits and situations like this before as an event planner in San Diego at InStyle Event Planning and Martino's, many cases which have gone on to collections. (google it). She has been blacklisted from planning events at multiple venues in Park City and is known to local rental companies as being 'difficult to work with and untrustworthy'.
