Fort Lauderdale International Airport - Terminal 2

The Fort Lauderdale Int. Airport is one of my favorites to fly in and out of. On a recent vacation,…read moreI found this airport very easy to navigate from the parking garage to the gates. The garage parking is reasonably priced for long term parking and when crowded, the cement walkway from the garage is very easy to navigate by following the painted lines on the ground. Once inside the building terminal, the signage is very good and it is comfortable from the carpeted floors to the temperature of the a/c. There is the option of TSA, TSA-PRE, and, CLEAR lines to get through security. Once on the "other side", there are some private airline clubs, public sitting areas, and plenty of restaurants and bars to wait for the flight. Upon arrival, the directions are very clear on where to go for baggage claim, parking garage, and ride sharing locations. Exiting the airport is a little confusing as the lanes merge and drop off pretty quickly and the signage can come up very quickly for the east bound exit and the ramps for I595 westbound. To me this is an average sized airport that has convenient domestic and International flights.

We actually arrived in Terminal One not 2, but I can't seem to find Terminal 1 on Yelp…read more This was the first time I've flown into the Fort Lauderdale International Airport in many years and it looks a lot different than it did years ago. For an airport this big, it doesn't overwhelm you like many large airports. It was easy to navigate, easy to give baggage claim and easy to meet my brother in law who was picking us up. The baggage claim area was spacious and not overly crowded, the concourse was wide and the signage was clear. Great arrival experience.

It was a quick trip to Chicago today and we boarded on time, left a few minutes early and the plane was new and very clean. Staff was friendly. My only concern is, we fly home tomorrow night and I did see something that they were considering shutting down all operations this week. Fingers crossed I get home and my future flights are still ok.

The planes are yellow, has smaller seats, and leg room. I've read mixed reviews. My experience was a good one. We took a direct flight from Bradley Airport to South Florida. From beginning to end, the experience was great. The flights were comfortable. Why 5 stars? We had a lovely flight attendant, wish I got her name. My toddler was freaking out on a very early flight back home. He was tired and couldn't get comfortable so he was crying. She picked him up an rocked him to sleep for me, wow, talk about 5 star service. As a parent, we know how stressful it can be to fly with young kids. The flight going to Florida he was amazing but the flight back, it was too early and he was cranky. Thank you to this flight attendant for saving the day.

You can find the parking area just past the Naval Air Station Museum. It's exact location is the southwestern end of the north runway. This area was dedicated in 1997 in honor of Ron Gardner, a retired Air force Captain and aviation buff. He joined the Broward County Aviation Department in September 1977 and served in many roles including airport spokesman, noise control officer, and as a special projects manager. He passed away from cancer at the age of 57. This is exactly the kind of place Ron Gardner would have enjoyed and if you are an aviation fan, you will too. I was surprised by how many people were out here on a Saturday afternoon. Spectators brought chairs and food and whole families were taking in the view. You can even hear the communications between the pilots and the tower. Two other nearby viewing areas include the Hibiscus Garage Viewing Area and the Greenbelt Viewing Area. Watching the planes take of and land is a fun and free activity enjoyed by all ages.

If you are a photography buff or like aviation, you'll like this place except that you might want to go when the weather is a little cooler.

I called there number & he advised me that he will be there in 10 min. Ok I didn't think much of it I only lived 20 min from the Palm beach airport & figured I would be fine. The second sign something was off was the car was visibly dirty. It didn't matter I was in a rush at this point & was greeted by a driver that was dressed in what could only be described as what appeared to be a Barnum & Baileys Ringling brothers outfit. Upon closer look the elaborately decorated outfit looked like perhaps a Mexican Charro. But the older gentleman wearing it didn't appear to be of that background so I wasn't sure. Nonetheless I jumped in & made some small talk with the driver. Come to find out this wasn't the company I was used to doing business with as this was an affiliate company called USA Transportion & apparently that wacky outfit is what they had there drivers wear. Once I was dropped off I thanked & tipped the driver & called my company directly & told them to be careful with other company's they partner with as they could give them an unprofessional image.
