It is nice that they supply a crew car, but they have started adding fees for RON and for the power cart as well.

So easy to get through security. Nice to have earlier boarding with ALP. Nice also to be able to reserve an exit row seat. Hopefully, the perks as a loyal Southwest Airlines customer will continue. Thanks for another great experience.

While I typically fly American Airlines, every now and then, I do find myself on a Southwest Airlines flight. While I know some big changes have just started being made on Southwest Airlines including the cost of luggage being added and assigned seating starting soon, the "no frills" concept of Southwest Airlines for better fares and the "outrageously fun" service culture intrigue me with the airlines as a customer and observer. In fact, I typically have had very positive customer service experiences whether in advance on the phone or in person at the airport. For more first time ever flying into Panama City, I flew in on Southwest Airlines with layovers in Austin. On the other hand, I have flown Southwest Airlines every now and then through other airports like Phoenix, California, Las Vegas, El Paso, or Albuquerque. While I have never tried the A-List program before, I have membership in CLEAR and Global Entry, which help me speed through security to get to the gates. I also find myself enjoying lounges through the American Express Platinum card and/or Priority Pass program. It also provides a travel incidental which I often will use with Southwest Airlines. Traveling has become more of a hobby and habit at the same time, and using Southwest Airlines and American Airlines as two the two airlines that are most convenient for me, I can accumulate points or miles quickly for future benefits. I actually recall learning about Southwest Airlines in my business school classes way back when as it was used as a regular case study, and I loved reading books about Herb Kelleher and the early days of Southwest Airlines and its service focus not only to customers but to employees as well. After all, if your employees aren't happy, your customers certainly won't be. I recall living the Southwest Airlines experience on holidays when everyone was treated to drinks, through fun and entertaining announcements by flight attendants, and when I was younger, even being invited to pass out the peanuts (in the days well before pretzels were instead distributed). As the recent Southwest Airlines changes are so new, the jury is still out on how I feel about them. For now, I can still expect great service, which is really what we're looking for (besides safe and timely flights). I look forward to continuing to check in with Southwest Airlines every now and then.

My midsize reservation was upgraded to a Chevy Equinox, which is a medium sized SUV. Bonus! The car was clean and exactly where it was supposed to be. Drove well, no problems at all.

To Whom It May Concern,…read more I am writing to formally complain about the appalling experience my family and I endured while renting a vehicle from Avis in Cutler Bay, Florida. We rented a Wagoneer for a family vacation to Port St. Joe, Florida. Our travel party included four children, my elderly mother, and three dogs. We trusted Avis to provide a safe, reliable vehicle for this trip. Unfortunately, that trust was completely misplaced. Shortly after beginning our journey, the vehicle experienced a low tire pressure warning. We attempted to resolve the issue ourselves by adding air to the tire, but the problem persisted. Concerned about the safety of everyone in the vehicle, we contacted Avis for assistance. Avis arranged for a tow truck, which took possession of the vehicle and left us stranded. We were given a case number and instructed to travel to another Avis location approximately one hour away to obtain a replacement vehicle. Upon arriving at that location, we were shocked to discover that the employees had no knowledge of our situation. They did not recognize the case number we had been given and informed us that Avis locations apparently cannot communicate with one another. To make matters worse, they had no replacement vehicle available for us. At that point, Avis had effectively stranded a family consisting of four children, an elderly mother, and three dogs in the middle of our vacation. We were left scrambling to find transportation while dealing with the stress, inconvenience, and uncertainty caused entirely by Avis's failure to properly inspect and maintain its vehicle and its inability to coordinate even the most basic customer service response. What is most disturbing is that every step of this experience reflected a complete breakdown of communication, accountability, and customer care. The vehicle should never have been rented out in an unsafe condition. Once the problem occurred, Avis should have ensured that a replacement vehicle was available before directing us to travel an additional hour. Instead, we were sent on a pointless trip only to be told that no one knew anything about our case and that no vehicle was available. This experience caused significant disruption to our family vacation, wasted valuable vacation time, created unnecessary stress for everyone involved, and demonstrated a shocking lack of concern for customer safety and well-being. I expect Avis to thoroughly investigate this matter and provide a meaningful response regarding how this situation was allowed to occur. I also believe compensation is warranted for the inconvenience, lost vacation time, additional travel, and unacceptable treatment we experienced. I have rented vehicles from many companies over the years, and this was by far one of the most frustrating and poorly managed experiences I have ever encountered. Avis failed to provide a safe vehicle, failed to communicate internally, failed to honor the assistance it promised, and failed to care for its customers when they needed help most.

The slogan for the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) is "It's in every escape" with a capital E, C, and P. The airport advertises its convenient daily nonstop flights that make it so that planning your next escape is easy. They also like to market that at this airport, you can go from "baggage to the beach in 20 minutes." Unlike friends who absolutely hate flying, I enjoy the travel experience, especially when using some helpful tools like CLEAR, Global Entry/TSA Pre-Check, airport lounge membership, and airline status. The only one of these that this airport uses is TSA Pre-Check. When checking in, I was able to easily check my bag at the Southwest Airlines counter. I then went to the All Gates check-in area and used TSA Pre-Check to skip most of the line at Security while keeping my shoes on (thanks to an American Express Platinum card which comes with credits for both TSA Pre-Check and CLEAR). Being a smaller airport, it was quite easy to navigate the gates and food in the terminal. The baggage claim was also easy to find as there was really only one baggage claim per large airline. The car rental area was more complicated though that may have been due to the rental company itself. One negative though is that there were no airline lounges of any sort. I ended up arriving quite early and visited the only restaurant with hot food (to go). I eventually found open corners of boarding areas with outlets and read a book for a while. On the ECP website, you can take advantage of free resources as a part of their Junior Flyer Zone (https://www.iflybeaches.com/junior-flyer-zone). There is also an "Art Escape" initiative in its concourse which showcases rotating beach-themed and contemporary works from local Bay and Walton County artists. Inaugural exhibits include photography by Mark Little and Chandler Williamson, along with student artwork, aiming to enhance the passenger experience. While I'm not sure when or if I'll be back to this airport or 30A, I did appreciate this airport and would go back again.

While located out in the woods, it is fairly convenient to either the city or beach. While International is in the name, think more Regional, like Assistant to the Regional...airport and that is the vibe of ECP. When they opened close to 15 years ago, they only had 5 gates, but as of today, with a recent expansion they are up to 9. This is a "hub" for Southwest, which operates the most directs to and from. ECP is compact from entry to exit with the lobby, which is one long room, holding airline counters, souvenir shop, security lines and a small cafe. Just a few feet down you have an information desk, baggage claim and rental car counters. Out the front doors you have a covered walkway leading you to the parking lots. Once you pass through security, you head up the stairs and are greeted immediately with the gates, another cafe and souvenir shops. Convenient and compact. One thing I do appreciate about ECP is given the small size, they have copious amounts of clean and well-kept restrooms! Given the small size and limited flights/options, the amenities are also oddly timed with availability. The airport, and everything in it, begins to close fairly early in the evening, so if you are scheduled to arrive or depart after 8:00 PM, the bathrooms are about all you get access to. Speaking of amenities, the souvenir/snack shops are standard, and you can get a snack or drink as needed, however the food and beverage outlets are not the most efficient, which can create concerns if you are short on time. Fun fact about ECP...the airport code ECP was selected at random and has no true meaning. When they launched the airport code, the code they wanted was taken, so they landed on ECP, which again has no official meaning, even though the legend continues to grow that it stands for "Everyone Can Party", which I guess makes sense if you are headed to ole PCB. Overall, I enjoy ECP for what it is. A convenient option for a quick flight into PCB...I am lucky that there is a nice direct from BNA, so a 1-hour flight is always better than a 7-hour drive!
