I lived here from 2013-2026. The management is WILDLY mismanaged. Ronnie and Denis are incredibly rude and completely unhelpful. When they redid the patios we had to pay even though we were on the bottom and all of our stored belongings (patio chairs, BBQ, etc.) were lost, our plants destroyed, and our patio got smaller while losing access to water. I called before the project started, during the project, and long after to ensure my items and plants would be safe/returned. I called and emailed for over a year trying to locate my items. They promised my plants/trees would be watered when I couldn't access them during the work. A few died and the rest had to be completely cut back. I emailed and called dozens of times with no responses. I eventally found my BBQ in the trash area near a toilet and used mattress, propane tank missing, which I clearly didn't want to cook food on again. It was obviously unsanitary. A 3 month balcony repair led to a 16 month ordeal. We were also accessed for a solar project and there was NO transparency in PGE bills. They went up and up with no information on how these panels we paid for saved us anything. HOA bills have weird charges. We kept getting charged for over a year for our dog who had passed away. I called the HOA twice upon her passing to stop being charged and no one would update the account. I found charges on our bill labeled "miscellaneous" and when I called to inquire about them nobody could tell me what those charges were for. I had neighbors who had auto-bill and were charged twice by mistake. The hallway floors are filthy. When we first moved in they were regularly cleaned. That stopped years ago. ***That said I loved my neighbors. I seriously had the best neighbors ever. Maintenance was also wonderful! They were prompt and so helpful.*** read more

This is one of the worst place I have live in! The management is rude and doesn't like kids. Especially the woman that manages it! Her name is Ronnie and she will let her security harass you and will send you a fine for normal sounds of my baby walking or my kids washing dishes. She picks who she wants to listen to. And the entire board is discriminates kids ! This place seems to be made for senior citizens not for kids to live in! Also note it's an old building and you hear everyone and the people that complains are all single or never had kids before! Finally had a chance to write a review with this place and I am grateful that I was able to move out of this place for my mental health and peace of mind! Shelter Creek has a very special place in my heart. My brother, who is developmentally disabled lived there for many years. Management there has been stellar, with not complaints! General manager Ronnie Rosen has been top notch in every way. Management has been kind, professional, and caring, and available to be there, when needed, within the scope of what they can do, without fail. My brother has felt safe; family members that support my brother are left with nothing but gratitude. On yelp you get many different voices; I can tell you based on my experience ( I also lived there for years myself) that any review that complains is probably based on an unreasonable concern that doesn't take other residents into consideration and where the resident wanted something that was beyond what was good for the community, or maybe one of those individuals that seems to always be waiting for the next thing to complain about. The woman at the front desk managing the complex is extremely rude. I waited patiently in front of her for 5 minutes without being acknowledged. Once she acknowledged me it felt as if she didn't want to help out one of her paying customers and that I was being a disservice to her. She also was not wearing a mask and there was a sign right in front of her saying everyone must wear a mask in the clubhouse...... The property manager Ronnie Rosen is extremely unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful to residents, and employees. She think she's above everyone and everyone is beneath her. She is a miserable old lady with a bad attitude. The property is extremely ran down with bad management. The HOA is cheap and doesn't like to upgrade or repair anyting. The community has horrible lighting, no gates, and no key fobs. I would not recommend anyone moving here! read more

One of the difficult for delivery like Uber,DoorDash ,Grub hub. No special parking for pickup and delivery. Very hard to deliver for costumer door. Before pick up costumer order and start navigation we don't know exactly where we are going to delivery. Sometimes we unlikely come to suffer headache this location for delivery.This is Rank 1 for difficulty place for delivery. Twice I nearly got traffic tickets. once I used resident park for food delivery . When I returned the resident was waiting me because I was using his car park. I am loving it! The property itself is a little bit old (40 year old) but it is very well maintained. For the price, I think it is a bargain! I love the landscape and it is always nice to have a walk at the garden during the weekend. The facilities here are great! 3 swimming pools, 5 tennis court, table tennis, sauna room, pool tables, a tiny basketball court, a tiny little gym ( i do wish they have a bigger gym since it gets packed all the time) and a car washing area! You can save a lot of money if you live here since you don't need to go out and look for fun anymore =) The cost HOA is reasonable. It is worth for what I pay for... Pro: 1) People working and living here are nice =) I have nice neighbors. 2) Beautiful Landscape 3) Facilities 4) FRESH FRESH FRESH AIR 5) Price 6) Close to freeway and Bart (if you drive) 7) Close to SFO 8) I can actually see stars at night! I recently bought a place at Shelter Creek, this is a really beautiful community! There are pool tables, swimming pools, walking path, gym, and different special events (bingo night, diners, etc..). It is really nice! Lots of positives! Lots of plants and nature... Negatives- the walls aren't as sound proof as I would like... So, this is the second review I write, and I hope Yelp posts this one, because the first never was. I am writing to give kudos to Ronnie, our manager. I have lived here for about fifteen plus years, and even though the grounds were nice when I arrived, the management of the almost one thousand three hundred units was a DISASTER; no other way to put it. I won't go on about that because that's not what this review is about. Back to Ronnie. I can't say enough. She is outstanding; manages this place with incredible efficiency. Honestly, I don't know how she does it, with the enormousness of the place. She is always out on the grounds, taking care, personally, of even, what would seem, the smallest detail, like garbage bins! Yes, even they are spic and span. The grounds are gorgeous; full of lush trees, bushes and flowers. We have a beautiful rose circle. The three pools are flawlessly maintained; clean and inviting. Anything breaks down; boom, she's on it. The clubhouse, the gym, the tennis courts, the buildings themselves are beautifully kept up; painted, vacuumed, shampooed. And she's polite and friendly and will chat with any resident who has a concern. And my main issue is safety. We have open garages, which is why there are four stars, and not five (Ronnie gets FIVE STARS and so does her AMAZING team. Awesome people). I'm not a fan of this, and had serious problems before, because of it, but frankly, since her arrival: zilch, nada. No more safety issues. Even the security guys are incredible. They are everywhere you'd want them to be. I joke that they scare the pants off of me because they pop up all over the place, and I often arrive home late, and like to take late night strolls, sometimes (which I would never have done before!) but I had so many issues with vandalism of my car and have had NONE in years. I used to feel unsafe here and now feel perfectly safe, and believe me, that took years to feel! They are super efficient and helpful, as well, and very polite. Ok. I could keep writing with tons of other details and stories, but this is already quite lengthy! There is nothing or no one perfect, but once in awhile, you get these people who are unbelievable, and I know I'm gushing but I've been here long enough that I've seen the huge difference, and I'm thrilled. And grateful! If I weren't, I wouldn't have bothered to write this. If you're considering a condo in this area, it's safe to say this is a very good bet! I've been living here since 2014, so it's been 4 years so far. I give one star to the landscape here, and that's the only good thing about it. The following are the cons: 1) The management really sucks. We pay over $400/mon for management nowadays, but I don't think the service I get worth that. 2) The newly hired securities are often forgetful about their duties. I've seen those people playing on the phones several times when they were on duty, even while driving. 3) No cell phone signal here. I've tried T-mobil and ATT, sometimes can't even make a phone call. I'm currently using Sprint, phone call is decent, but no Internet service. 4) If you want decent Internet, San Bruno Cable TV is your only choice, and they charge you based on how much data you use. The others like raw bandwidth and ATT only provide slow speed Internet. 5) The buildings are very old, which means that you might get a neighbor upstairs with squeaky floor as I do, and there's no way to solve this. They have their living, and the management won't step in. 6) Don't consider the buildings near the side of 280, they are very noisy, even if the room doesn't face the highway. You'll get a lot of white noise. read more

I've been living here for eleven years and I love it. Beautiful landscaping job, true resort living (sauna, jacuzzi, gym, tennis court, three (!) heated swimming pools--all in excellent working condition), great security, terrific staff at the clubhouse available to help. T-mobile service works great here (to answer cell phone issues.) Maintenance service is always available. As for cons, yes, the walls are thin and sounds do travel but it hasn't been an issue for the most part. Most people are very considerate and nice and, overall, it is very quiet. The only noise we get in the morning is birds singing! If you have a second car, you do park it in the street but there are always parking spots available and it is a very safe neighborhood. Beautiful property. A lot of wonderful tenants and owners. Very kind and well intentioned staff. Overall though, this place doesn't work for me. I like having cell service. I prefer not having internet that feels like AOL circa 1997. I like being able to receive deliveries when they are delivered and not held up for days because no one will accept them for us in the office. I like not walking a mile from where I park my car to get home. I like not walking a mile to my car when I have to leave. I like not being stuck in the middle of nowhere. Cons vastly outweigh the pros. I'm just grateful I only rented here!!! read more

Buyer beware! Very poor management led by a very angry lady who is more concerned with a rule than a human being. The maintenance crew is great with some very helpful gentleman. I am not sure what the association board does other than hold meetings because nothing seems to come out of it other than a few bbqs and very pushy elections. The laundry facilities are clean but the machines seem to break on a hourly basis. The security is non existent unless you swim without your ID in which case they circle like you are some kind of criminal. Overall, a fresh infusion of leadership is needed very badly read more

Never had any problems here. They take very good care of the grounds and they have lots of little mixers and parties for the residents. I rent a place here and haven't had any problems. Their maintenance staff is also very nice and pretty responsive. Its a nice, quiet little place, also pretty safe. There had been some reports of cars being broken into, but it's been a little while since I've heard anything so the security measures they took seemed to have worked, either that or I haven't been keeping up. I have 2 complaints though: -I cant speak for all buildings; but most places I have been around have little to no cellular service. I've had AT&T and Verizon and my boyfriend has Sprint so between those 3, only Verizon gets any kind of service here -Also, the internet service is lacking in this area. I have AT&T U-verse high speed internet and the service has cut in and out a few times. The first time, the technician had a hell of a time trying to find out where he needed to go to try and fix the problem and the 2nd one that came (who's serviced the area many times before and was much more knowledgeable) told me that the cables are very old and they would need to dig under each building and replace things in order to improve service. All the services come in from building 6, so depending on which building you're in, you might get crappy internet. I average about 2-3mpbs at the most..and 0.01mpbs at it's worst. read more

Thank you to Ronnie Rosen and her staff for helping me to resolve some issues and listening to my concerns. I had been dealing with noisy sounds coming from the squeaky floorboards above my unit, which had been ongoing. Part of the job had been completed, but other sections needed to be addressed. Luckily, I decided to stop by last Monday at the Club House and Ronnie Rosen happened to be near the front desk. She ushered me into her office and she spent time hearing me out with that, and other concerns. The next day the maintenance manager stopped by and finished the job of securing the squeaky floorboards. Other issues are pending, but Ronnie gave me some information on how to resolve them going forward. I appreciated Ronnie and her staff's time- I know that she's super busy, but also believe she's doing the best job possible. I've been living at Shelter Creek when I purchased my property about 6 years ago, and although there are some drawbacks, there are also many positives such as Ronnie Rosen & her team. read more

As a resident and homeowner of a studio since August 2002, I feel fortunate to live at Shelter Creek. After a 1.5-year battle in which I nearly lost my condo to foreclosure, there were times where it would have been easy to walk away. If you're familiar with the saying, you don't know how fortunate you are until you've lost it; well, that applies to me. When I first moved to SC, there was frequent discord among the board members. Frequent and sudden resignations were common and the board had difficulty filling the vacancies. Prior to election time anonymous notes were slipped underneath my door advising me to vote for this candidate and/or trashing a nominee. It's not hard to see that changed when Ronnie Rosen and Nino Viola came on board. When they did, there was a 180-degree change. Due to their hard work and efforts, Shelter Creek is a more secure environment. This is why I choose to live here. As a native San Franciscan, it would be hard to find a comparable HOA/COA to that of Shelter Creek. read more

This condominium complex is well cared for and well landscaped. The grounds are beautiful with redwood trees, magnolia trees, olive trees, cherry blossom trees, etc. It has man-made running creeks. The HOA is run by Ronnie Rosen, who has done an excellent job of maintaining the complex. It also has an excellent board with different committees for recycling, event planning, landscape, etc. Because of the drought, the gardeners have actually been doing deep root irrigation of a lot of the trees. I bought a unit 2.5 years ago and love living here. There are a lot of birds that come through here: blue jays, robins, nuthatches, juncos, etc. During the summer, they have weekly barbecues. read more

Lived here for two years, and love it. At first my mom was skeptical about my choice and then she visited. She was very impressed with the size of my one-bedroom, the 24/7 roaming security, the three pools(one of which is indoors), the weight room (which is cleaned regularly), the big screen TVs with free WiFi at the clubhouse, and monthly activities. They have a happy hour once a month! They have bbqs every Sunday in the summer! Bingo! Pool party! Halloween! Thanksgiving! This weekend they have Cinco de Mayo and are serving margaritas! Sure, some people are weird or cranky, but we have a population of 4,000, what do you expect? And our General Manager is a sweetheart who listens to any concerns brought to her attention. We just won an award for our recycling and budding composting programs. I plan to live here at least ten more years. read more

FIX THE PEEPING IN BUILDING 6!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really can't wait for the day My boyfriend and I finally move out. We have lived here for a little over two years and at first, everything seemed fine but that didn't last long. One day we kept hearing a VERY loud beeping noise, we then discover it was coming from one of their maintenance rooms. This peeping was happing every 5 mins and can be heard far down the hall. It's one of those peeping sounds that is very distracting and obnoxious and can drive you crazy especially if it's going off all day and all night. There was a period that the peeping was on for I kid you not 10 days straight!!! We would call the office to get someone to come and turn it off and they would claim they are aware of it and that someone was going to work on it. Well, its been two years and the beeping continues. Yes, it's not every day but it is still very frequent. As I am writing this the peeping is occurring, its been 5 days straight. We are dealing with Covid-19 so we are working from home with this damn peeping. They claim they are waiting on the city of San Bruno to give them permission to rewire the system which basically means it is never going to get fixed. NEIGHBORS BE CONSIDERATE!!!!!! My next complaint is with our neighbors, I'm not sure how we got so unlucky but our neighbor above us plays the drums... can you believe that the drums, in an apartment building knowing you have someone living below you. This guy plays them for about three hours straight and at all hours of the day, multiple times a day. I really don't think this guy has a job because this was happening even before quarantine. Then one of our next-door neighbors decides it's a great idea to blast music and play karaoke on random evenings/nights (not just weekends). The other plays the piano, which we wouldn't mind as much because they know how to play and could be pleasant and they don't play as often as the drummer. Recently, all of our neighbors decided to play their instruments and sing at the same time. We had the one on the right blasting karaoke, the one on the left playing piano, and the one above banging his drums. I really do not understand how people can be so inconsiderate knowing that most people are still working from home. NO CELL SERVICE!!!! Lastly, There is little to no cell service so if you have an emergency and need to call someone for help you are out of luck. The only way we can make a take calls is through wifi calling but once we leave our apartment for a walk around the buildings we have no service. Even with Wifi calling our calls drop every now and then. You would think that having coyote sightings around the buildings, management would feel an urgency to make some sort of effort to ensure the safety of their tenants and make sure they can call for help if needed but nope. read more

I'm a happy long time resident, and while I've been tempted many times to move to SF there are many reasons keeping me here. The location is sunny! Even when it's foggy in South SF or other parts of San Bruno, it's sunny here. No traffic noise. A well maintained swimming pool and jacuzzi. Nice residents, although mostly 40-50's+ age and kids. Safe parking in the lots and in the residential neighborhoods. yes the thin-ish walls are an issue, but only if you or your neighbors are the kind to BLAST loud music all day and all night. Once I got used to it by keeping the volume down, all was good. Also, you can have an extra soundproofing layer added to existing walls called "quiet rock" from Lowe's. Strangely, a lot of the complaints I'm reading about here (e,g, smoking) could very easily be taken care of by calling the front desk and they'll dispatch maintenance/security. I may eventually sell my place, but till then I'll likely continue living here. read more

Ronnie, the general manager and her team are doing the fabulous job to keep our property beautiful. I scheduled a walkthrough with a woman on the phone (customer service was not good, when the woman called me back she didn't bother leaving a message--I was not told where to park or which area to meet her). When I showed up no one was there to greet me and the lady at the admin office said she had no idea what I was talking about. No cell service while I was there, the place was a maze, hard to navigate! Very poor follow up, I wanted to see a unit but they made it very difficult. We can't say enough nice things about all the employees in this complex from General Manager Ronnie Rosen to the landscape crew. Ronnie, Lorena and Gloria have gone out of their way to make our move so easy and you have No idea how hard everyone else thinks it is when you're just moving upstairs! They have walked us through every step explained everything thoroughly and been nothing but kind, happy and professional! I asked for door to be adjusted yesterday and it was done by this morning! This is one of the greatest complexes to live in. I lived here back in the 70s when they were rentals and now as a second home while I live back east full-time. I have owned a condominium here since 2008. I like the facility. The maintenance on landscape is good. Always clean and well maintained. The main pool is very nice. On hot days the security will come check badges to make sure only tenants are using facility. The office people cane sometimes come off as rude but once you kill them with kindness they become very helpful and kind. These condos can be noisy at times, with the freeway so close. And on weekends drunk people can be heard getting home around 2-3am. And yes cell phone signal does suck. But for the most I like this place. Close nit community. Great place to live. read more

We purchased 2 bedroom unit at Shelter 5 years ago. We've regretted it ever since. The halls have always smelled like cigarette smoke or marijuana. Our neighbors car was broken into twice. Another neighbor had his motorcycle stolen. When I called security to report people having sex in the stall next to my parking slot I was told "Well, times are hard, people can't afford hotel rooms!" this was a joke, but it wasn't funny. You can hear the upstairs neighbor sneeze through the walls. I could go on and on about the negative experience we had here. Access to the pool and tennis court was very nice, but not worth the noise and smoke smells. This place is perfect for retired smokers and 20 somethings who'll know it's a step up from dorms. read more

Ok, I have been renting here for a bit over a year and here is a very simple low down on this place. The grounds are awesome, the pool is nice and big (always enough room), you get an assigned parking space and you can rent another one for $50 a month, if you have someone coming over to visit you can get them a parking pass that will give them a temp spot. The people for the most part are very friendly (I have had no issues at all), you can BBQ on your patio as long as it's propane. As for the location, you have a gas station and 7'11 within a few mins walk. Now for some of what you can look forward to once your here. People love to do laps in the pool from the deep end to the shallow end, which pretty much shuts it down for anyone else wanting to swim.. Stay away from the hot-tub during late hours on Fri and Sat nights (Just trust me on this one). The indoor pool is pretty much the unofficial kiddy pool and has been closed a few times because the water was unsafe... Swim if ya want, I don't. The gym is a total and complete joke for a complex of this size. Parking just sucks, I have to walk through another building just to get to my car. The place is very old, and the walls are very thin, if you work any kind of shift work and are not a heavy sleeper, be prepared to be woken up a lot. ALL UNITS have self closing and locking doors, it is EXTREMELY EASY to get locked out of your place. There are laundry units on the 2nd and 3rd floors only, and there isn't enough machines, so you going to find yourself waiting your turn or trying your luck at another building. Building #2 is haunted, if your laughing at me now I don't blame you, but there are some things that I have experienced that just doesn't have any other answer. With all of that said, it's not a bad place to live, and besides the parking and the self closing doors. It's damn near perfect! read more

This condo looks ok from the outside but the management is trash and the units are outdated. Expect the management to be rude. If you're paying $380 for an HOA you should expect that money to go somewhere but it doesn't. The management will nickel and dime you for everything from mail box keys to door keys. They'll charge you for anything and everything they can. There's trash littered all over the complex. People leave their old furniture outside the trash room. YES THERE ARE PETS. MANY OF THEM. Also there is poor internet service. This complex has a deal with ONE internet company so none of the others will come out. You're in a dead zone. The residents are pretty much retired busy bodies. Mostly Russians and Chinese here. Some new families and techies. This is NOT a resort. If you want to live here just know you'll probably be sick of it in no time. read more

This place is a dump. Don't even bother. Cell phone service here is pathetic, walls are thin and you hear everything. My car got stolen here about 3 years ago got no help whatsoever by staff here. Although Patrick/Chris are amazing!! the best thing happening here is there security. Lighting at night here is horrible. They definitely need to update .... EVERYTHING. My and my wife moved this place in 2007 was a really good place. Their office staff is ok but not great......... You can get a security guard in front of your door for a little noise and trust me when crime happends there some how there is none of them around. I have nothing but positive things to say about the management, the community, security officers and all staff members at Shelter creek. I have lived here, I have worked with these people in a professional setting and many of my family members still live here. The property manager Ronnie is one of the most remarkable leaders I have ever met. Her heart is in the right place, she is professional and cares about each and every one of the residents.
