He is communicative, friendly, priced incredibly well AND was on time. I'll absolutely hire him again for my flooring this spring. So nice to finally have a go‑to handyman!

Highly, highly recommended. From the moment I reached out, communication was top-notch. He was prompt, professional, and asked the right questions to understand the issue before even arriving. He showed up right on time (a walked me through what he saw, and clearly explained the best options for repair. I had some pretty bad water damage under my kitchen sink and was honestly dreading the process of getting it fixed, but Scott made the process so easy. There was more damage than I originally thought. He calmly assessed the situation, laid out a detailed game plan, and handled it like a pro. He even sourced materials on the fly and kept me updated every step of the way. On top of that, he's super friendly, respectful of your space, and really takes pride in his work. The attention to detail was amazing. Place looked great when he wrapped up, nice and neat. The wife was very pleased. Hire Scott and relax as he is that someone to fix it.

This time we included the doors and trim.In 2021, we found a painter on Thumbtack with photos and great reviews. He was a nice guy. His work was okay. As is often the case, he underestimated the time required to complete the job. This time we chose to work with a company in hopes that we would have a more professional experience. We liked the fact that we were able to schedule our Five Star estimate online. The only glitch there was that there was no communication beyond the automated email response. That response did not include the name of the individual who would show up at our home to provide the estimate. We liked that their quote included the paint. We also liked that a project manager was included with the job. Her job was to ensure that the job was completed. Michelle also offered to come back whenever necessary to fix whatever they could. The challenges come with the actual painting. This was a small job that we considered to be fairly straightforward. Our walls were white and we wanted another coat of white to freshen it up. Our doors and trim were a toasted almond color. We wanted them painted black. We were advised that this would take 2 coats. The toasted almond paint was there before we purchased the home 10 years ago. This paint held up incredibly well. We didn't know that it was oil-based and the Five Star team could not tell by looking at it. They pointed it out to us after they realized that the black paint was not bonding. Water based paint has been painted on top of the oil based paint. We have no idea how this paint job will hold up. Although the white walls were previously painted with a Behr paint and primer combination there was difficulty getting an even coverage with the paint provided by Five Star. This was the strangest part of the experience. Who would think there would be difficulty painting white on already white walls? The following are my tips should you choose to hire Five Star Painting Dallas: 1. Request a quote that includes a primer. None of our surfaces were primed. In my opinon, this should have been done as a precaution. We would have paid for primer. 2. Ask about the pricing to pay by credit card. There is a 3% fee in addition to what has been quoted. 3. Ask for a detail oriented painter with at least five years of experience. We were told that our painter had been with the company for 3 years. No idea how many times he's actually painted but we question his experience. 4. Plan for an additional day regardless of what's been stated as part of the estimate. Our 2 day project took 3 days and a 4th day for touch ups. 5. Expect challenges. There's no such thing as a perfect experience when it comes to contractors. Ex: The painter misunderstood the instructions on the first day. He was an hour late on the 2nd day. He stopped covering our brand new tile floors after the first day.
