Rick with Professional Drywall and Painting did great work on our foyer. I tried to skim coat over old wallpaper backing myself and made a mess of the whole thing. I called Rick and he was able to come out quickly, quoted me a fair price, and skim coated and texture the wall much faster than I ever could have. They covered all of the tile floor and masked off the doorways to make sure they didn't make a mess, and the end result looked great. Rick and his brother Mark are very professional and great at what they do. We set up for the work to be started at 8am and they showed up ahead of time - that is the first I have heard with contractors. We had a suspected leak that caused the baseboards to mildew. Rick found the cause and cleaned, caulked, sealed and painted the baseboards- looks brand new. Also, we had Mark refinish and reseal our 8ft front door. He did such a beautiful job- the door looks awesome. My husband originally wanted to do the door job but was told by a hardware store employee that the job would be too difficult and that the quote Rick gave was more than fair and that we should let the pros do it. During the 2016 Spring hail storms, one of our sky lights was broken which caused several leaks to occur in our sunroom. For our initial free estimate, Rick was very prompt at arriving at our home on time. As my husband and I surveyed the damage with him, Rick was very personable, a good listener, very knowledgeable and, as we visited, we discovered we have a similar drive - providing a good, strong, dependable work ethic as a reflection of who you are! After Rick left, my husband and I commented how his personality, demeanor and candor gave us not only confidence in his ability but we felt like we had known him all our lives! We really appreciated his willingness to help us save money by allowing us to do some of the minor painting ourselves. This morning, Rick and his brother, Mark, showed up right on time at 7 AM. As they moved and covered furniture, plants, carpet and my ceiling fan with plastic sheets, I was amazed how skillfully they worked together as a team -- like a proficiently-oiled machine -- saving a tremendous amount of time. They quickly identified, repaired, floated and textured the walls to match. And, even though I had three different kinds of texture on various walls, they were able to match all three textures! I was so impressed with their professionalism, as they paid attention to every detail in the sunroom, but what blew me away was their willingness to "go the extra mile." After our entire roof was replaced, there were 12 nail heads that were trying to break through our ceiling in 6 different rooms in our home. As Mark worked in the sunroom, Rick repaired, floated and textured the nail holes so all we'll need to do is paint to make it good as new! I was expecting the job would take most all day. I was wrong! It took them 2 hours this morning. They left a fan blowing to speed up the drying time. They came back at 1:00 PM to paint and were gone in another hour! Their efficient speed was impressive and was only surpassed by the overall quality of their work! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM AND CANNOT GIVE THEM ENOUGH PRAISE FOR THE GREAT JOB THEY DID!! (In fact, we were so impressed that we've decided to hire them for a separate job that wasn't a direct result of the hail damage. They come back in a week!) Rick was responsive and courteous when I initially called. I had a small job, but he was at my house within 24 hours to take a look. He had it on the schedule in a day and finished in two days. He had to remove wallpaper applied to bare sheetrock on one wall of my half-bathroom, repair the sheetrock, texture it and paint it to match. The result is dramatically perfect. Mark and Rick were extremely clean with the work area and the pathways in and out of my house. The paint is evenly applied with straight edges - no spills, no running drips, no garbage left in my garage (had that happen with other contractors!). They mopped and vacuumed when they were done. There is a possibility that the other reviews are not merely biased, but may in fact be real customers. However, in my case, I want to explain the reason I rated this a 1 star. Rick was very quick in responding to my initial call and setting an appointment for a free estimate. He was courteous on arrival and departure. During the walkthrough, he undermined majority of my requests stating that it was not necessary for me to spend extra money to perform certain repairs since I would not be able to recover that from a sale of the home. Instead he suggested I approach each repair in a more cost effective way, which under most circumstances seemed to be good advice. Who wouldn't want to save some money. I showed him 4 hairline cracks in the drywall resulting from normal settlement of the home. I showed him some caulking that need to be replaced in the bathroom. He suggested he could clean the caulking instead of having to replace it. He also offered to lightly sand my bathroom cabinet fronts and put a fresh coat of paint. I had a limited number of other small repair requests. Based on his suggestions, I was under the impression I was going to get a good price. When he finally sent the quote asking for $6500 without providing any break down of the costs, I nearly choked. No professional company with a reputable background has ever had the nerve to quote such unreasonable rates. Then I began to realize the reason he is so quick to respond is because he is searching for customers that are not aware of market rates in hopes of taking advantage of the customer's naivete. For the same exact list of work I requested from him, I received quotes from two other reputable companies that were licensed and insured to do more work for only $2500. I hired one of those companies, and I could not be more satisfied with their performance, honesty and quality of work. Yelps very definition of one star is 'me thinks not'. There is no way under any circumstance an educated person would pay any company 3x of the market rates for this type of work. My advice to Rick is to tell people up front that his skills are so exceptional that his rates are triple the norm. I highly suggest other real customers to obtain multiple quotes from other companies that detail each line item so you know exactly what you are paying for. read more
