I love the Friends Books on Main store. The store features incredible donations of used books, cds…read moreand DVDs that are in excellent shape and priced right. Most DVDs and cds are $1 each, with some multi-sets priced a bit more. Books are typically $4 each but some are a bit less, some a bit more. You can get a pretty new book for just $4. The store is only open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays but that's plenty of time to browse for some excellent bargains. The store is staffed by volunteers who are always cheerful and helpful. I highly recommend Friends Books on Main.

Besides a focus on mystery and thrillers, they really had most genres covered. Most of the books here ... and they claim tens of thousands of books ... are used, and are generally on consignment from somebody. So quality varies, and you might find two copies of something in very different conditions and at matching price points. That being said, the selection was exceptional and well worth investigating. The Book Rack had an especially large selection of kids books ... which was great for us. The only downside of some of these large holdings is that they aren't all classified and organized. Sometimes a certain genre will just be stacked in crates or boxes ... but don't let that dissuade you. There are treasures to be found here. If you like books and enjoy the hunt, this place is for you. Recommended.

I brought two books on house plants and planting in containers. I couldn't find any pies making or pound cakes baking books that were on my list but I emailed them to today to ask if any of these are available. They replied right away. Even though they didn't have the books I wanted. The customer service was great. They're willing to reserve these books if those come in. The cost of all the used books can be $5 to $8 which is great.. And if you follow them on Instagram. There's specials sometime. Go check them out

I recently joined a book club and they have monthly meetings here. Actually, Troubadour hosts a bunch of book clubs so you should check that out. You can check their website and also sign up for their newsletter to get all the info. The bookstore is clean, bright, friendly, and well organized. I don't find many bookstores that have a horror section so I was glad to see they had one. Service is great and the selection of overall items is good too. Big plus for having good parking!

What a gem and on the East side of Charlotte!…read more This independent bookstore offers a wealth of books, speciality gift items, cards, seating and a cozy children's nook. Price points were fair and seemed to have something for anyone. We will definitely be making this our number one bookstore. The manager was knowledgeable and personable. He was also friendly and obviously enjoys books. I was able to find a unique gift for a friend. I look forward to receiving emails about coming events the Troubadour will be offering our community.

During my most recent visit, the woman I spoke with...who had glasses and shoulder length hair...was in the middle of making soap, which I understood she couldn't immediately stop. However, when I explained what I was looking for, instead of offering assistance or even a bit of understanding, I felt completely brushed off. More than retail, it seems the place is now more of an artsy crafty place than a retail store. The entire place looked bigger...more space, since less retail. I thought they should have had some overhead music to fill the empty space, and give it more of a vibe. They still had this bar area, where they served wine (aside from the Jackass Cafe in the back). Still, I love the big, wide, open space that this place has to offer...and its Bohemian vibe. And did I mention their awesome artwork on their walls - both inside and out? Sort of like the Wayfair outlet in Rock Hill rather than through the internet…read more Lots of "cutsie" things for the home. You name it from furniture, lamps, shelves and stuff to put on them, throw pillows, some clothing and signs: in other words a ladies shop. My wife likes to wander around looking at things and this is a regular stop especially if we go to Rock Hill for lunch. Not my male cut-of-tea, but you can see immediately why this is an attraction for women. This is not a place for old antiques, but for replicas of antiques. Guys, you can score points by having the grace to go in with your wife and shop with her. It is an amazing experience and your spouse will give you a compliment to enduring it with her.
