Dang thank you Dr. Sherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Holy crap, you guys. I was working in NYC when an old neck injury suddenly reactivated. Half way through the day I realized I couldn't turn my head, couldn't lift my arm and couldn't look up or down. So basically, crossing the street and doing much of anything was out of the question. A coworker saw me making wincing faces in a meeting and looking like I was going to cry and he goes, "Hold on, I'll help." He called Dr. Sher - who happens to be across the street from our office - and Gabriel worked me in schedule right away! I wanted to cry I was so happy. Acupuncture is the only, only, only thing that works on my neck and back pain next to deep tissue (which doesn't work as good as acupuncture). Was it painless? No, I'll be honest. If you have neck pain, you gotta suffer through some pain to survive. But did it get better. YASSSSSSSSSSSS. After my session, I could move my neck side to side again. I wore the medicated bandage things he put on my neck like he said to. I took 2 hot showers and stretched my neck continuously. I also decided to sleep without a pillow because I just couldn't handle it. After my morning shower, I felt so much better! I'd say I'm 75% better now and have a feeling I'll be fine by the weekend. Gabriel Sher is seriously amazing on so many levels. I have a chronic condition that has persisted for over one year. At first, I was seeing Gabriel regularly - his work combined with my physical therapist's was the only thing that has made me better. Now that I've been doing better, I usually see him at a reduced frequency, typically when I have a flare up. He's filled with empathy and compassion for his clients and often gives me extra time when I'm feeling my worst. The very next day after being treated by Gabriel, I usually feel symptom-free. It's incredible! No other practitioner has been able to help me to this extent. Not to mention Gabriel is a whole body-mind practitioner. I'm not speaking in hyperbole when I say that my appointments with Gabriel changed my life. After YEARS of suffering from debilitating GI distress (IBS) I had basically given up any hope of being "normal" - I had seen various GI Dr.'s (all of whom had excellent reviews) who ran copious tests and diagnosed pills, I had worked with nutritionists on elimination diets - the works. I have been a patient of Gabriel for almost nine years, where he has successfully treated my knee pain, arthritis and digestive issues. I grew up running and playing competitive sports, and in my late teens, tore both ACLs and meniscus cartilage. Due to trauma from three surgeries, I developed premature arthritis in both knees by my early 20s. I could not walk without pain and almost all exercise was out of the question. I sought medical advice from different orthopedic surgeons, including from a top orthopedic surgeon who specialized in sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgeries. The only advice I got was, "do what doesn't hurt, and don't do what does." I was resigned to live a life in pain, until someone recommended I try acupuncture at the Sher Acupuncture Center. I was skeptical, as I grew up with a strong belief in the importance of western medicine, with tests and proofs. Gabriel took all the time I needed to feel comfortable with the philosophy and practice of acupuncture (including lending me a textbook about the subject). After the pain was under control, I was able to reduce my treatment regimen to one of maintenance. I cannot say enough how helpful Gabriel was at treating my pulled hamstring. I was training for my first marathon and pulled my hamstring about 8 days before my race.
