I'll be honest with you, I'm not a big "spa" guy. However, I am a big "making my wife happy" guy,…read moreand she wanted to get a massage and bathe in the famed Saratoga Springs mineral water, so here we were. When I called in (booking online was very difficult) to make the appointments, they didn't have exactly what we were looking for available. They told me what was available, and we went with it: Sauna, mineral bath, and a massage for my wife. Sauna, and a cold plunge for me. Based on the few appointments available, I was expecting the spa to be busy when we arrived. It was actually completely deserted. I saw one other guy the entire time I was there. We got changed in our respective locker rooms, put on the nice robes and sandals, and went to the Relaxation Room to wait. The nice woman who checked us in told me that when my wife got taken for her bath, I should go to the sauna. So I did. I was in the sauna for about 10 minutes when it seemed markedly less hot. Because it was off. I had to get out of the sauna, put on some clothes, find an employee (not as easy as it sounds), and ask them to find someone who can turn the sauna back on. It runs on a timer, but they didn't think to check it would be on during the session for one of their two guests that morning? Seeing as how the sauna was half of my (not cheap) entire experience, this was a little off-putting. After we figured the sauna issue out, I was grabbed by my bath attendant. He led me to a room where it was clear that I had a hot bath waiting. I asked if the cold plunge would be afterward, he said there was no cold plunge but I could turn the bath colder if I'd like. I wasn't sure if I made a mistake, so I just went with it and hopped in the hot bath. About 10 minutes after I got in the bath, he came back and told me there was a mistake, and he had a cold plunge ready for me. So I got out of the bath, and followed him to a different room, and hopped in the cold plunge. Which was very nice. However, the runaround was also a little off-putting, and not the relaxing morning I was hoping for. All in all, the mineral baths are very cool. The water is unique and amazing and I'm glad we did it. For what it's worth, my wife said it was one of the best massages she's ever gotten. However, my experience was disorganized, and the facilities are a bit outdated. Beware: If you wear clothing into the bath, the mineral water will stain it. It would've been nice to have been warned about that beforehand.

We were late on the jump because we changed the dates of our trip, and make appointments at different times. Barbara provided both massages in a beautifully decorated room that celebrated Sharon Springs past as a resort town after WWII. Cheryl, the owner, was knowledgable about the area and the history of the town. When I arrived I was invited to the inner waiting area which was nice and warm and served me a delicious loose leaf tea blend. The atmosphere was calming, the staff was easy going and I had plenty of time to relax before we started the massage. Barbara did a fantastic job and made me feel very comfortable and pampered. We really enjoyed the experience and left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. A great plus was that as compared with where we live, the price was about 30% less. I absolutely recommend the Spring House Spa!

Barbara explained everything that she was going to do. Pretty sure I got an upgrade. Not only did I get a neck shoulder and head massage, I also got my back massage and my arms as well. A hot towel rub down was pretty good too. The place looked clean to me and had a relaxing feel to it. The soft mellow music helps to relax. I found it to be very relaxing and it right around the corner from my house.

Crystal stressed that each facial is customized to the customer's needs. For every step we took in the process, she made sure to explain the ingredients and what it'll do to my face. Not only was it a great facial, but she also goes above and beyond to make sure that you're taking care of your skin properly. She was kindly shared tips on nutrition, skincare routine and what products to avoid, to use, etc. I'm new to the area and she also was quick to recommend restaurants, things to do, etc. Overall, she's just an enjoyable person to be around and chat with. After I left, I immediately told all of my girlfriends this is THE place to go for a facial in Saratoga as none of them have found places that they like here. This is also at a great location right off of Broadway. The atmosphere was inviting and peaceful. The entire set up was thoroughly cleaned and smelled of lavender (my fave).

But don't be weary, the seclusion is like a well kept secret. Sort of an invite only establishment, lol!! Everything about FACES from the moment I walked in made me feel comfortable that my skin was in good hands. Lastly, during my appointment from consultation to treatment, each step felt effortless. I didn't realize how much time had passed and was almost disappointed that I had to leave! Thank you Crystal and see you soon!! -Kim

I too found it a little forward for her to ask that I fully undress. I normally leave my panties on and the therapists have always worked around this. But, also not being prudish I did as asked. I later regretted this. The massage started with 4 deep breaths where I felt extremely awkward. Then the tummy massage which I could have done without. The whole experience was terrible. I also wanted a deep tissue and not once did she find a kink and work it out like is normally done, and what I needed. Now to the really uncomfortable part that I hope by sharing keeps people away from this place. Normally a therapist is a little cautious when moving your limbs around and keeping the blanket in place as to keep a little modesty in the room. Not this lady. At the end I almost said something and walked out and regret now not doing so. I was laying on my stomach while she worked on my legs. My backside was completely uncovered while she had my leg in the air (while Im on my stomach) and rotating my foot. I know for a fact she had a good view of everything and couldnt help wonder if she was getting kicks out of this. I'm sorry- but it was just so terribly uncomfortable and odd. She was an older lady and I'd like to think not, but why on earth did she not cover my backside back up with the sheet?? Spend your money elsewhere. Stay away.
