Very nice selection overall. I'm a beer fan so I made a beeline straight for the beer selection, which was good but definitely not the best I've seen. Took awhile for the employees to realize that I was serious about buying decent beer- several inquiries fell flat initially but finally someone who seemed to know a few things about beer took over and I was pleased to leave with several interesting selections. Once the other guys there got warmed up, they were very friendly and offered interesting/amusing comments on the beer as I made my way to the cashier. Prices were pretty high- Abita 6-pack for $8.99? Heck, in California I can get that for $5.99. Not a place to go for if you're in the market for a deal, but not a complete ripoff either. read more

Ah, the local liquor store, where everyone knows your name. I love Sherry's for hard liquor, there is a decent wine selection, and there are always great specials on alcohol. The guys behind the counter are always really helpful and friendly, and if they think you will get a better deal on a certain type of beer or vodka they will let you know. There is also a pretty good beer selection, but make sure to check the expiration date on the beer before purchasing. We have bought some past its prime beer at the store. However, for Woodley Park, I'm impressed with Sherry's offerings and will continue to frequent it. read more

I would have just chalked it up to a busy day, had the clerk not passed me 3 times to ask patrons next to me if he could offer some help in their selection. None accepted his offer yet he never asked me -- and decided to occupy himself with other tasks. As additional patrons entered -- he again reached out to them for support and continued to ignore me. The place is as tiny as a shoebox so it's not easy to miss any of the 7 customers that can fit comfortably inside. Unfortunately, it's not the first poor service experience I've heard for patrons of color at Sherry's. But as a neighborhood resident that was late for dinner with friends -- I thought I'd give it a shot. Never again. read more

For a liquor store in sleepy Woodley Park, Sherry's really shines. First of all, the fact that you can purchase alcohol until 10PM on a Sunday night in an area of town where the pharmacy closes at 6PM is a true blessing. But also a curse: if you're buying liquor at 10 on a Sunday night it better be the day before Labor Day or some other government holiday, otherwise you got problems kid, and we should talk -- just wait 'til I finish telling the rest of the Yelp world just how great Sherry's is and I'm all yours. Sherry's gets it right in more ways than just their generous hours of operation: - Selection is plentiful, including more varieties of (chilled!) beer than I've seen at any comparable local establishment. - The wine options are endless, and I could pretend to know more about wine here but nope you should just go see how many pretty bottles they have. - Liquor abounds, from the very dirt-cheapest of options to the fancy kind that comes with it's own carrying case. - You can also pick up other liquor store notables like a block of cheese or soda/juice mixers (or chasers, depending on what kind of evening you're trying to have). When I asked someone in town where to buy packaged goods they told me the local USPS would be able to help. Little did they know I have a thirst for IPA on a hot day in August and packaged goods in Massachusetts means I need a tall frosty beverage. With all that being said. Sherry's has the selection. I normally don't write yelp reviews but sometimes it's an act of public service to tell everyone about a place that is ridiculously over-the-top awesome. I was walking to the library in Cleveland Park and passed this on foot for the first time. I was shocked how different the store was inside than out. The windows are simple and you cant see much inside, but the interior is stocked, handsomely in wood floors and well merchandised shelves, with anything and everything an adult could possibly want. I'd never seen so many hard to find bourbons and single-malts, and the wine selection was just as big. Or as many bitters!!! It's a hidden gem for DC and more people need to know about it. And their craft beer selection? Never seen anything as expansive in my life. Do yourself a favor and go there. And take pictures! read more

Having grown up in Pennsylvania, which is probably the most alcohol regulated state in the country, the novelty of being able to buy wine in my grocery store hasn't quite worn off yet. I almost didn't stop into Sherry's, but then a sign in their window caught my eye- "French baguettes baked fresh everyday." Sure enough, they bake a few baguettes per day, and sell wheels of Camembert to go with them. They have a pretty extensive selection of wine, but it runs on the pricey side. To give you an idea, Robert Mondavi's (bottom shelf brand) run about $11-$12 here, and I'm used to seeing those at $7-$9 elsewhere. The staff was really friendly and helpful though, so I'll probably be back in the future! read more

Much better craft beer selection here than you would think. Local bottles like Stillwater, Lost Rhino, Port City, DC Brau. Trappist selections including Achel, which seems hard to find in DC. Lots of coolers with singles. Sort of a cramped place but lots of good stuff hidden throughout. Definitely worth a stop to find some interesting local, large format bottles. Scotch selection is also impressive. Worth chatting with the staff to see when special releases are set to arrive. read more

They are a touch more pricey that their competition in general but it is an expensive area and they carry many hard to find items that aren't available elsewhere.That being said they have competitive pricing on certain items on a regular basis, have deep discount specials advertised in their e-mail newsletter and website and they have a 10% whiskey special every Thursday. read more

I am visiting DC from California with a delegation of 25. A few of us went to purchase refreshments for the rest of our time here (quite a few gallons) as we are enjoying our time.on the East coast. When we walked in to Sherry's, without a second thought and with no respect, the attendant muttered "watch them". I am so tired of being demoralized for the color of my skin. I have two master degrees and working on my doctorate making well over six figures. When will the respect begin?
