The store is neat and seems to be fully stocked. They have a popcorn machine and also water bottles in a mini fridge for customers. Seems a bit odd for an industrial business, but hey, I think it's great. Now, I don't know much about their total services as I come in for one reason. Per their website, they offer welding equipment, supplies, and repair. They have some cool looking welding masks. Aesthetically, because what do I know about welding masks? They also offer safety products and tools. All of these can be ordered online. Most importantly, they have industrial and medical gases onsite which is what I come in for. I work in a medical office and come in to get our liquid nitrogen gas tank filled. I always feel a little awkward coming in to a predominately male-based customer business, but Ruben and Rudy always make me feel welcomed. Ruben and I usually fist bump as our greeting lol. Heard from a friend on Facebook that this is the place to get bulk soil and other landscaping…read morematerials, and had to check it out. If you're not familiar with the landfill entrance, it can be a little confusing at first to know where to go. We sat in line with the bulk items/landfill drop off folks and once we reached the window where the scale is, the lady directed us to follow the signs to drive a bit further back to find Living Earth. We probably could have gone left and avoided the line, but there's less signs than I hoped at the front landfill part. If you're not sure, the lady at the window in that bulk line can help you if you're willing to wait in line. We drove a ways to get to living earth from there. From there you really do just follow the signs and her instructions. Once we got inside Living Earth, we went to the little building that is the office to ask about pricing and to pay. There's a lot to choose from, and prices were pretty similar to what I was told on the phone. They had a pricing sheet. I went with the specialty planting mix since I told the lady at the office that I'm using this soil for a flowerbed. Then someone met us at the right pile of soil to load up our truck for one yard of specialty planting mix. We got one big scoop of soil, that didn't quite fill the truck bed but we have an extended bed. We got out to shift the top of the pile around to sit a bit lower, and patted it down a bit before we drove home. It was hard to know what to expect but now that we've done it onceI'm excited to go back for more projects.

They had some spring items in tho from what we have at our normally frequented location on Hulen, the selection was a lot smaller. The amount of houseplants seemed very limited, I only say this because this is one thing we look at. The Hulen and Debbie Lane locations both have big houseplant areas along with the seasonal outdoor colors. They did have some small Coleus plants in stock which is a favorite of my wife's. Of course we had to grab a few. It was close to closing time, some of the staff seemed a bit busy. It was worth stopping in to see what they have as not all locations carry the same items.

Their product is certainly more expensive... BUT, it's a really lovely experience every time I visit, I've always found beautiful foliage, and the staff is helpful -- all that's worth a lot. I really do enjoy strolling, reading about different plants, and breathing in the planty air. Recently we made a Calloway's trip with baby Winnie in tow, and we picked out a bunch of goodies. A Japanese maple tree (since my mother stole my other one), two astilbes, lavender, rosemary, sage, basil, geraniums, and an azalea. Each plant looked healthy on the shelves to start and is now thriving even more, happy at home in our backyard.

I needed to buy ink for my ink jet printer at home to print out slides for school. I came in and met Omer, he told me laser printers are better. It can print up 300+ per ink jet and you can refill them not keep buying cartridges. I wasn't aware of the difference. He's so right!!! I ended up buying a laser printer and it's cost less to buy ink for it! How helpful! This is the only place I take my cartridges for refills!
