After being a loyal customer for over 15 years, I'll never step foot into Foster's Ace Hardware again. I was there today (2/5/25) to have some copies made of a key, a key that I've had duplicated more than several times at Foster's. In fact, I've never had this key duplicated anywhere else. I was told by an older male employee who was called up front to make the keys that I'd never had that key duplicated there, that I must have went to another Ace Hardware. I tried to explain that no, I've never been anyplace else, but he was hell-bent on being right and me being wrong. So I guess I'm either stupid and have no clue where I've gone in the past to have this one key duplicated (Foster's is just over a 10 minute walk from my house), or I'm just flat-out lying for some reason about where I've gotten the key duplicated. I was literally dumbstruck for a moment, as I've never been talked to in such a way from an employee of any establishment. So I asked the guy why is he calling me a liar, he said he wasn't calling me a liar, so my question is if you're not calling me a liar, then what are you calling me? I said I've had the key duplicated here, he said no I did not. I'm pretty sure that's accusing me of lying. He got very rude to me, and yes, I got ugly with him as well. I don't respond very well to being called a liar (or someone insinuating that I'm lying when I'm not). Calling someone a liar, even insinuating that someone is lying, is a complete attack on someone's character. The only thing worse than accusing someone of lying is being wrongfully accused of being a thief. And I won't stand for it. I'll give you a million reasons to be mad at me, but lying will never be one of those reasons. If he had any doubts, he could've simply said "we don't make these copies anymore", or "I understand that while yes, you've had this key duplicated here in the past, we're unable to duplicate this key", or something, anything other than what he said. Yes, as I said, I got ugly with him also, but it really angered me to be called a liar. My money, and others like me who appreciate the mom and pop small business hardware stores, keep small businesses like Foster's open. You not only bit one of the hands that feed you, but you insulted me in a way I've never been insulted before. I've been a customer of Foster's since 2008, I've spent many thousands of dollars there, and from January 2020 to December 2024, I've spent over $8500 at Foster's. Not at all a life-changing amount of money, but that money will be spent elsewhere thanks to one extremely rude employee, who sadly brought out the worst in me. It's upsetting to me as I always enjoyed shopping there. I signed up for Yelp just to write this one review. read more

Exemplary customer service! Call and get a real person, not a phone maze. No thirty minutes or longer wait on hold, like their bigger competitors with the same or better pricing on the items I've purchased so far. In the store, everyone from the owner to the employees is friendly AND helpful. Dealing with and visiting Foster's has been a pleasure, as it should be and I appreciate them! Don't buy your paint or stain there totally couldn't match the color. When I came back to have the color adjusted said nothing they could do even Though the color swatch and the actual stain were totally different. $100 out the window. read more

I came in with a question about how to best hang a 50lb mirror. An employee asked me questions to figure out the best solution. She took me to an isle and suggested the perfect product in under one minute. I was impressed with how little time it took me to walk in, ask for help (after I tried looking myself, of course), and find what I needed. Great job y'all. read more

Ordered a key from here. Had to pay up front for this and as told it would take up to two weeks. To my surprise it came in in about 4 days. Was told to come up anytime between 10-2 and this could get programmed. Just came to store and now it can't be done because no one can do it today. You have 6 employees standing in front of store doing nothing, yet no one is here to get this done. This is horrible customer service. Thanks for taking my money and doing things on YOUR time. Thanks for your response so quickly. I never asked for a refund, and this is customer service to you? WOW!!!!!! I was told on Friday yes Saturday 10-2, on original purchase I was told any day. So with that said I will discuss this with my wife. This car is used to commute to Corsicana and back daily, so I guess on on your time works. Brittany is not your customer service problem. I feel like this Ace is like the tents in Harry Potter. From the outside... Not that big... But I swear whatever you need, they will have it at a very reasonable price. You don't have to tramp all over a Lowe's or a Home depot. This Ace is magical and have always come through with the unexpected. I even cross checked a price on amazon... Same price! read more

This is the first time I've Yelped about a hardware store. Of course this is the first time my water pipes sprung a leak and I found myself watching gallons of water cascading down the street. Since it was hard finding an available plumber on short notice, I resorted to digging up the flower beds myself. It was fairly easy to find the leak, I just followed the water back to its source. It was a cracked plastic thingie that went from one plastic pipe into my metal water line along the house edge. (I now know this"thingie" is called a CONNECTOR). I did know enough to turn off the water and to use a wrench to remove the leaking thingy. Righty-tighty, lefty Lucy. (If you don't know what that means, you're really in trouble, home-repair wise!) So far so good. "Look, honey, I found what was making it leak!" I said as I proudly displayed this muddy connection thingie (CONNECTOR) to my wife. "That's wonderful. I'm so proud of you!" she responded. "But we still have no water," she went on to pointedly. "And don't even think about coming inside until you get all that mud off yourself." So I trotted my muddy little self off to the nearest hardware store, which happened to be Foster Hardware (a friendly Ace hardware store) located in Southwest Plaza, just off Little Road and just north of I-20. Going inside, in all my dirty glory, I marched right up to the first person wearing a Hardware patch, held up my muddy CONNECTOR and said, "I'll have another one, please." Without a blink, a teenaged kid led me to a rack of plastic CONNECTORS, and after sorted through a few, picked out a match to the one I was carrying on his first try! Huzzah! Now that's the kind of service I expect in a hardware store, but seldom receive! Now if they can help a two left-thumbed boob like me, they can probably help you solve your home repair problems too. read more

So if you don't mind the "owner" Cheryl talking to you like you're her child please shop here otherwise I suggest taking your money elsewhere! When making a purchase and trying to clarify a sale item in their paper a lady was called to the register to take a look at the paper, after standing there for 2 minutes and have her read over the sale paper i simply asked was there a common to indicate that my item was included or meant "and" included my item. She simply raised her voice and said, "There is no and" and walked off..mind you I had already made my purchase but never will I ever shop Foster's Ace Hardware again. read more

Ace hardware is my go to place for all home projects, they have everything and have the most helpful employees. I always walk in there so lost and there's always someone willing to help me find exactly what I need. The manager there is excellent, I recommend shopping here over the larger hardware stores any day!! read more

I drove 20 minutes to pickup an order based on curbside pickup, when I arrived they refused to bring our. I called a manager who did not care that I could not enter the store because of the covid crisis, she did not care. She said her website did not offer curbside pickup, but I placed the order on the ACE website that does. She still did not care. Note that here on Yelp curbside pickup is offered. I've spent a lot of money here at Foster's, I'll never be back. I purchased a 5/16'' - 18 - 3 foot all thread from these dudes. The threads were messed up. I tried to get Fosters to exchange this for one that had good threads, and they refused 10/2/2018. The dude was able to find my name in his computer, and said he couldn't exchange the damaged item because it been too long since I bought it. Foster's lost a good customer today, all for $4.99. Had a great experience at this Ace. Usually I'd wander around a Lowe's or Home Depot until I found what I was looking for. At this Ace though I was asked by three different employees if I was finding everything ok, or if they could help. They weren't hovery, just helpful. That meant a lot to me and was something I rarely experience at the big box stores. Prices were a little higher though and so I only gave it 4 stars. read more

Several weeks ago I purchased 2 pcs of 1 inch black pipe 30" long. Today I found out they were too long and went back to exchange them for some shorter pcs. The guy said I didn't buy them there even thou the girls scan every item I purchase to my Ace card. The guy basically called me a liar. I purchased the two pcs of pipe I needed and was so mad I left the original 2 pcs of pipe I brought back. I will never be back!!!!! read more

I made my last trip to this store today. I had dropped off a lawn mower blade to be sharpened. Gary was too lazy to retrieve my blade that was 6' away, but called another associate to help me. While waiting, another customer was commenting to Gary about the meal he was cooking on his grill. I mentioned I was cooking a turkey on my pellet grill. Gary reminded me to enjoy my meal as he was having to work. A blonde cashier was busy talking to a man who was not buying anything. Upon leaving the store, the quality of the sharpening was beyond horrible. In fact, my blade is quite possibly ruined. read more

Luckily, I don't even have to pull up Google before an associate comes and asks what I'm looking for and then somehow knows exactly which took, size and isle its on. Hooray for helpful, handymen. They also have free coffee at the entrance.. I know my grandpa would pour himself a cup right there. Gives it a super chill feel. read more

Mr. Foster, I would agree with the comment on the previous review. I use your store often. I usually go down to Lowe's for my big purchases and yes I think your prices are too high for some of the small items I buy, but it is close by so I use your store. The one thing I don't like is your cashiers. Every time I walk up I feel like I am talking to a dish rag. I know they are teenagers and most have no respect for anything, but they could at least be pleasant. They should great customers as they walk in, since they are right by the door; I think the thing that lets me know they are not paying any attention to anything going on, is when I hand them my credit card and DL and they ask for my ID (when it is in their hand) or ask me to sign the receipt when I am standing there with a pen in hand. For that matter you should teach all your staff, what many refer to as the Ten foot rule, (some make it 6 in smaller stores) where they say hello to anyone they pass. read more

Y'all, I'm all about local, small business and this place is it. I seriously love these guys. Some days I can't fathom wandering around the big chain home improvement stores and so I come here. It's small, friendly, peaceful and helpful. They always seem to have that little thing I need and I leave so much less stressed. I've never price matched so I'm not sure if I'm spending the same or spending more, but you know what? Sometimes my sanity is worth a few bucks. This place is pretty cool and I think I'll keep coming here. :) read more

I usually go to Westlake Hardware since it is closest to my house, but I was right there by Foster's today and went there to look for a light bulb. Everyone was very nice and friendly and helpful UNTIL I got to the cashiers. As I was walking up to the two teenage girls you have as cashiers (my cashier was Brittany. I don't know the name of the other one), they were making fun of the previous customer by making ugly faces and laughing! Really? I wonder what they said about me after I walked out! i havent worked here personally, but my mom has and ive shopped at this location before. the customer service is good depending on the day you go in, some days its great, others you can complete all your shopping without seeing a single employee. when my mom worked here she came home almost everyday with a new story of how she was mistreated, she has been humiliated in front of customers and friends, and some of the managers are downright petty and cruel to their workers. there is obvious favoritism in the way the employees are treated, and they have cameras and microphones set up around the store, not to check on customers, or see if they need help finding something, but to spy on the employees and make sure they dont stop working for a second, even if there is no work to be done. not to mention how overpriced everything is. overall this is a terrible place to work, a mediocre place to shop, and you can, and should, save a lot of time and effort by going to lowes, but hey, at least theres popcorn. read more
