I was immediately drawn to a blue gray color named "Peace". It was shown within a grouping and their associate (Anthony) helped me find a larger swatch. Anthony was very attentive and helpful, letting us know AAA members got a 25% discount. With the discount, our gallon of Hi-Hide was under $35 with tax. He quickly mixed our color and made sure we left with an opener and paint stick. We've used Sherwin-Williams paint for most of our house and we highly recommend the paint. As a home with 2 young boys, dog and cats it's important we have durable paint that can be wiped clean.

When I finally approached her with paintbrush options she didn't have the slightest clue what brushes were best for painting cabinets and admittedly said she didn't know and didn't do anything to retrieve the answer. I was just trying to buy three gallons of exterior paint color matched to the one gallon can I brought in, with the mix numbers. As the shorter older man with glasses continued to explain how hard and long this process would take he said it wouldnt be ready until the next day. The store didn't close for another three hours, with three people working behind the counter, and no other people in the whole store. He had a nice smirk on his face... I knew right then I was not welcome and I was wasting his time. After leaving the store dumbfounded I proceeded to Lowe's. 26 minutes in the store (Brownsboro), I walked out with three gallons plus one quart of color matched paint from the previous mentioned gallon and a smile on my face. I love when you walk into a "Contractor Prefered" type paint store such as Porter Paints and get treated lower than whale dung. Never again, after more than one negative instance at this store I am done with them. Bye-Bye Porter Paints. Leaving a review is not something I usually do but this complete blow off really irked me. We met with Leddy, and she helped us with colors that would work with furniture and the color of the wood flooring. They are gorgeous - she was so right! I'm not really good at measurements, mostly due to being lazy at that (but I can whip up an amazing hour-long presentation!). The person helping me sold me too much paint for the area that I needed covered (although I take responsibility for not quite having done all the math before my arrival), and when the painter opened the primer (I asked for primer with a color shot), the primer was too dark for the topcoat. The painter was able to just use the topcoat and do two coats. I know paint with color in it isn't returnable, but since it was a mistake in the color (primer with a color shot should have half the color), I brought the two cans of primer back. Porter Paints was very nice about it, and refunded me the money. I really appreciated how professional they are, and nice about mistakes. I will definitely use them in the future.

After replacing a door and frame recently, it was easy to see the drywall and patching that went around where the frame had been. Luckily, the previous owner of the home had kept cans of paint (and labeled them by room!) from the last time the house had been spruced up. I grabbed the can for the room needing some love and headed to my local Porter Paints to get what I needed. The store itself, located at the corner of Breckenridge Ln and Willis Ave, is clean, well-organized, and a great place to find home improvement inspiration. While not as large as a home improvement megastore, the location had everything you might need to give your home a professional-looking paint job. The staff was very friendly, and - using the can I had brought in - were able to match the paint I bought to the can the previous owner had left. It took just about 2 minutes for my can of paint to be ready and for me to be back on my way to improving the look of my home.
