Called two days ago asking about what to use on a new fence!? Also, what to use to avoid being tagged on the new fence after staining!? A guy over the phone was being super patient and giving me options to choose from. Showed up today to pick up a few gallons of paint. George (the store mgr.) went over the whole theory of when to paint a new fence and what type of paint to use. I feel so welcome there! They offer customers cookies, pastries, and coffee! So sweet! Horrible service. Got there maybe 8 minutes before closing, and the worker said "we're closing up now". I said "the doors still open so i thought you were open, and its like 8 minutes to six, i know exactly what i want, can i just grab it really quick?". I was very polite, and the guy replied "ilnooo, i JUST closed the RESISTER". with this really rude attitude. I dont know, if you wont ring customers up 8 mins before closing, maybe make your hours say "closed at 5:50 so people dont rush down to your store for nothing? I'm writing this on thurs aug 25 which is when it happened. Dont expect any kindness or consideration from this place. Really disappointing. read more

I've used SW for all my paint projects in the past but I wanted to give this location in particular a great review for their help in staining my deck. I had bought stain ahead of time by several months, decided to hire someone to do the work at a later date. We did not realize I mistakenly ordered the wrong color for our deck, so I returned to the store to see our options on what to do with the stain I had bought. The sales rep Gio, was very helpful, although we could not return the paint he offered to tint the color with red, which was what we needed to closely match our existing stain. He absolutely nailed it, despite the fact that I did not have a specific Sherwin Williams formula for our previous color, and only had a picture to provide. I am very thankful for their expertise and it was key to getting our deck re stained without having to reschedule. read more

If you don't know much about paints or stains, you shouldn't rely on staff here as they make up favorable comments about their products without justification. This location was formerly Blockbusters and I didn't know it was a Sherwin-Williams store until recently. I've been using Duckback Superdeck 1905 Redwood deck stains for many years and try to refinish my deck every 2-3 years. I bought the last batch ($38.99/gal) from South City Lumber earlier in the week and searched for other places that might sell this stain as I needed a couple more gallons. I finally found out that Sherwin-Williams purchased Duckback a few years ago and ventured to this store on Lakeshore. When I wanted a 1905 Redwood in transparent stain, staff there could not provide me with a match with their Sherwin-William Superdeck redwood stain. One guy said that their Superdeck redwood was the same as the 1905 Redwood I was looking for. I ask them to correlate the product codes on both products to see if they were the same. They couldn't and asked me to bring the 1905 Redwood can in to compare. So I brought the gallon can in and an Asian woman took the cans to the back to compare. In the meantime, I spoke with a young man with a wispy mustache and asked him about the differences between what I brought in and what Sherwin-Williams was selling. He gave several vague comments like "new formulations", "flows better", "last longer". When I asked him to be more specific about these comments and not make general opinions, he avoided the questions. Apparently he was trained like a used car salesman to gloss over things and "BS" people when he didn't know the answers. The stains didn't match and I left. The Sherwin-Williams product was $57+ and with their 30% promotion they were having, it would still be more expensive than buying from somewhere else. In summary, these people are shysters. If you are going to buy their products, do your homework first and don't rely on their advice. There is a good reason why big box stores draw the business from small paint stores. read more

I just bought some no VOC paints for my daughters room. They were super fast in matching the colors and very courteous. Parking is easy here in SF with a parking lot. Everything was super friendly and nice. Because I wasn't a contractor I didn't have the discount for professionals and she gave it to me. All the paint was labeled. She then brought the paint to my car - it was six gallons. I highly recommend! read more

I always come to this Sherwin Williams because I always receive amazing customer service but today on Saturday I walked in there was one customer in front of me waited about 15 minutes to get some help which is fine. I understand there was only one person working. When I finally receive some customer service I get told I can't get the color I want in quarter size I have to get the gallon. I'm between all of this happening he lets another man cut in front of me to pay but then starts up a whole conversation with them and the customer after me and completely ignores me when I try to tell him I wanted the gallon. I repeated myself and he continued to ignore I left after that's completely wasted my time read more

The gal working their today was real nice. We had no idea what we were doing (so we can't verify any kind of knowledge) and she was helpful in a cool calm way. She reminded us of the Asian girl from Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix. Well not creepy like she is supposed to be... but in her tone of voice and kinda humorous demeanor. It was a pleasant experience and it was cool that someone working somewhere that I assume could be a boring job had a chill but non-robotic attitude. I came in with so many questions about my home projects and he made it so easy to get started. He even helped me select a paint color that turned out to be the best choice. We are about to paint the outside of our home, and I've been to Kelly Moore, Benjamin Moore, Ace, all over the City and in So. SF. Today we went to Sherman Williams on Sloat. We were helped by a man named George (also a younger man whose name I didn't get). George was not only more available to help us than all the other stores I've been to combined, but his knowledge, his willingness to help us through this process of selecting the right paint for our type of house and neighborhood, etc. was extraordinary. We scheduled a consultation with him and within a day he came out to our house and provided great color options. Went there with a few small broken pieces of paint from a wall to color match. Gentleman behind the counter said it worked best with a quarter sized piece. Seeing my four year next me, he put a few of the small pieces together and although not larger than a quarter, color matched the paint color. When the paint was done he showed me a sample on a piece of paper right next to my paint chip. It looked identical. He even asked my daughter's name and named the paint color after her. When applying the paint at home, I had my doubts as it went on much, much lighter than the adjoining wall. When it dried, it was the PERFECT match. With great customer service and a color matching system that really works, I will be back. Paint was more expensive than Home Depot even with the sale price, but I have never received the customer service or color matching at Home Depot. Once I had asked about color matching at Home Depot and they almost laughed at me. For a newcomer to home ownership and maintenance, Sherwin Williams is my new go to paint store. read more

I ventured into this store after a failed attempt to paint my kids bathroom (using paint from another paint manufacturer). The store is clean and everything neatly organized. I was greeted in a friendly manner and then left to browse paint colors. Checkout was quick and easy. Alas, the paint color I chose still wasn't quite right on my wall. Fast forward to the next day when I went back to the store to get the paint formula adjusted. Robert (store mgr) was amazing. He listened to what I wanted and worked with me to adjust the formula several times. The entire process probably took 40 minutes. Yes, I am a picky customer. I took my newly adjusted paint home and painted my room, hoping the color would turn out right. Turns out, it is perfect and looks absolutely amazing.
