Had two motor swapped between two boats. The Final price was 2 times there original estimate. I took by boat back there for 4 simple repairs and service (big mistake). They had it for a month and only said they had completed 2 of 4 tasks. They lied about having completed one of the repairs and when I showed up to get my boat and do the work myself I found out that the work they claimed to have done was not done yet. I took my boat back and will never go there for service again. I had bought my $70,000 boat there. This is how the treat there returning customers. I still had not learned my lesson and went back to get a quote on ordering a 200,000+ dollar boat. The sales person told me that they were not allowed to tell me what options were available for the boat. (the option are listed on the Hewescraft web site) I will never buy anything from this dealer again and will buy my new boat in Vancouver or Salmon Arm. Update Bought a new 25 Alaskan Hewescraft and they will not do the warranty work because I gave them a bad review. Love the boat but will never deal with Sherwood again. read more

finally hit the last straw with this group. i have a Weldcraft 220 Ocean King purchased new in 2019 from them and the trailer set up has been less than steller. so my initial inquiry/ complaint was with who I believe was one of the owners where I had to argue with him that they sold me a Venture trailer with the boat, went away frustrated. then went in to possibly purchase a new boat and the salesman was so interested in hearing himself talk that he never did hear what I was looking for. so today I go in trying to get a target bunk set up for my trailer. 1st have to advise the guy that they sell them noting they had about 6 or 7 Venture trailers in their yard. Then had to listen for 10 minutes to hear why he can't help me but not even 2 minutes to see if he could even though I was the only customer at the parts counter. Done with these guys. I needed a simple electrical part for my new electric motor setup. Joanne assisted me and helped me save money. The sales staff also helped me decide on a new boat purchase as repairing my existing boat was not cost effective. Steve in sales was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. One of the worst business I have ever dealt with. Barry is so dishonest. We purchased a Suzuki engine there. The engine did not run right from the beginning and they kept blaming us... stating we did not know how to operate, then Barry stated it was not meant for off shore , what a joke. After 2 years of back and forth and horrible service we took our boat to another dealer. Instantly the other dealer stated it was a bad install and the motor was installed too low on the transom causing it to ingest water. The other deal re installed and zero issues WOW. We called Barry and told him what had happened and the fact that the engine had taken in so much water it had aged our engine quiet a bit. He did not care what so ever. Worst customer service on the Island. These guys should be ashamed of themselves. read more

This place is the fuc*ing worst. I'm doing this review on behalf of my 74 y/o father who doesn't use the internet and is furious as to how he has been treated by this crap company. We have been long-term customers of S & G Power for years now but sadly they retired and closed the store last year so my folks needed a new place to get their boat motors services and they live out in Sidney so this was the only place else to take their motors. What a fu*king HUGE mistake. Sherwood told my dad he need a carburetor clean on his brand new engine that had 6 HOURS logged on the new motor... My dad said there is no way the motor needs a carburetor clean, they had just bought it from Sherwood at the end of 2021 season, they didn't listen and went ahead with what THEY said it needed for repairs. Charged him almost $300 for a carburetor clean and my folks went away camping the next week, the boat motor literally clonked out the first day of their 14 day motor homing and fishing vacation. Took it back into Sherwood and turns out it only need a frigging gas cap, wtf. My dad asked for a refund on the carburetor clean and explained how his 2 week fishing holiday was ruined because they couldn't use their aluminum boat and motor on the big lake they stayed at. We are going on TWO MONTHS NOW AND STILL NO REFUND.... My dad has gone in 3 times and is getting the run around. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!! read more

I am writing this review after purchasing a new boat from Sherwood Marine, a significant investment for me at over $100k. I had read the reviews here on Yelp including the one by SteveA who went so far as to name staff in his very negative review which I feel compelled to now counter. My experience dealing with Gordie and Derek at Sherwood Marine has been nothing short of fantastic. My personal sales rep was Gordie and while he may not be the most fluid communicator, he methodically addressed every concern I had until I was completely satisfied, often well into the late evening hours. Once the installation of the significant number of accessories I ordered was complete Sherwood allowed me to use the boat for one week before returning it to address any deficiencies I noted, and there were not many. Because I live in Vancouver the cost of bringing a tuck, trailer and boat across on the ferry is significant. When Sherwood Marine's mechanic (Steve) went over my list of items I needed addressed he informed me they could not all be done on that day, which made perfect sense but the thought of another return ferry reservation the following week had me disappointed. The next week I called my sales rep Gordie about when I could return to pick up my boat and to my delight, they offered to bring the boat to me in Vancouver saving me the $400.00 cost of another return ferry trip! I don't know how else to articulate outstanding customer service but to write this review in thanks to Sherwood Marine for not only addressing all my concerns but going above and beyond to ensure that I am an extremely grateful customer. I went there a few times for boat repairs. Last spring I bought a new to me boat. I took it there for an overall check up of the main outboard and the kicker. They told me everything was fine. They change all oils and a water pump but beside that. All was good. They even told me the main was in great shape. Four months later I go back to try to trade in my main for a more powerful motor. And newer. They told me to bring it for inspection which I did. A day later I went to pick up my boat and they told me my motor wasn't worth anything. They said it was overheating because it was packed with salt corrosion. I took it home and change the thermostat. It was still overheating at 200f. So I decided to try to flush it with salt away. I flush the motor for one hour everyday with fresh water and would finish the flush with salt away. After 10 days of doing this it was still at 200f. So I decided to try to remove the thermostat. It help a little. It went down to 150f. The normal temp is 125f so I thought it's better then nothing and ran it that way for a bit. One day I decided to check the sensor to make sure. And sure enough the sensor was faulty. Put a new sensor, reinstall the thermostat and now it runs perfect at 125f. All this for nothing. I did all this on the assumption that Sherwood were being honest. Instead they were just trying to make money off me by not telling me the truth. I could've seized my motor by running it without a thermostat at too low temp. When i picked up the boat, I ask the mechanic how did he know it was not my sensor and he told me he used an handheld temp sensor and it was reading the same as the boat. I'm really upset with them and from now on SG Power is getting my money. read more
