This review does not reflect the dogs what-so-ever, so please come visit this shelter to adopt and give these dogs a forever home/family. The sheer number of dogs that this facility has is massive and they have so many dogs to choose from big and small / young and old. We met a few dogs that we absolutely loved, but at the end of the day we ended up adopting another dog in need from another shelter because we felt the staff was a little difficult to deal with. When meeting the dogs, the staff seemed to hinder on the negatives of each dog instead of seeing how happy we were during the meet and greets. I understand they like to warn potential adopters of all possible negatives, but we felt like these employees weren't even "dog-people". Additionally, we noticed after visiting twice that many of these dogs have MULTIPLE pending applications but they don't seem to be in a rush to get them into a home. We understand that it's about finding the best home for each pet, but it's a little discouraging applying for a dog that already has 3 pending applications. Hard to believe not one of these families are qualified. I hope the facility can approve upon these things and give these dogs into the homes they deserve.

I have recently…read morefostered a pair of kittens for them, and I couldn't have more good things to say about them. The owner and staff are extremely dedicated to rescuing abandoned and stray cats and kittens, and finding them loving homes. The pair of cats that we fostered were actually found by the manager of the pet store in which the adoption center is located, who is also an avid animal rescuer. They were only 2-3 weeks old, underweight, and would have certainly died in the cold if they hadn't been taken in. After a few weeks of TLC and lots of milk and food, they were the as cute and playful as any kitten could ever be. Once they were ready to be adopted, we gave them back to LI Feline Adoption center, and within days, someone had the greatest Christmas present ever. The adoption center itself is located with the store Pet Supplies Plus (http://www.yelp.com/biz/pet-supplies-plus-smithtown) in the far back-right corner of the store. They have a great facility with big windows so you can even window shop if you want. Even if you do see that exact cat or kitten that you are looking for, go in and talk to the people running the center. They only have room for so many cats in the adoption center itself, the rest are in foster homes. Chances are that they can help you find a perfect pet for you. Also, as with any rescue or adoption center, is you know you're not just getting a great pet, but you've also saved a life.

At the end of the interview she said we would most likely be approved for the kittens and could have them The following Saturday. She calls me back the next day and because my eldest daughter was still upset over the loss of our dog and couldn't come out and say I want these kittens she said we could not have them. We will never go back and will never recommend this adoption center. Those kittens would have had a great home and now we are heartbroken again. we just adopted two kittens from Islip animal shelter and they are doing just fine.

I did read about a lot of negative views, but I know the woman has such a heart Just by speaking with her and really cares about the animals. While I didn't get the service done there, I do highly recommend them and they really could use support in the way ofsupplies, donations, and a good review as well. Just stop by and say hello and get to meet the wonderful staff as they have helped take cats off the street and live a better quality of life.

Usually has most things in stock even hard to find items that you can't find in chain stores like Petco etc. , and one thing they have that doesn't exist in a chain store ---EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Anything you need they're extremely helpful and happy to find or get. I had my dog training classes here, and that's how I started coming to this location; but I have to tell you the customer service from the store is unrivaled. If there's something you need, just call and check on it. They're happy to check in stock, They also have a website you can order through that too, 99.9% of the time what you're looking for is a stocked item,and on the rare occasion that it is not or you have an item as I did a special cat food recommended by the vet they did not have on the shelf they called another location, had it there for me the next day! I also have a bad back and I cannot carry large bags of dog food for my dog....put my back out once they had the food delivered to my house free of charge which is a service they offer as well; if I go to the store, they are happy to bring it to my car for me if needed. Well, I went to the store and explained the situation, and a cashier gladly jumped to my order and scanned the items in. Amazing service! Our dog and cats only eat their Redford Food Brand, absolutely love it. They have a wide range of flavors for them both and the prices aren't too bad. Plus, they have a small bakery, vet days, and fun events. Tip: sign up for an account with them and track it. You earn points for store certificates and product rewards. Super easy to earn as a pet owner.
