Oct 16, 2025, I found out that a family wedding in Killeen, Tx, was postponed. I had a reservation at the Shilo inns, Killeen, Tx for Nov 14-16. Upon receiving the news of the postponement of the wedding I called the Shilo Inns to cancel my reservation. The Shilo Inns charged my credit card and told me I would not get a refund. This is my warning. DO Not Make A Reservation at the Shilo Inns. They will not refund your money. My next step is to contact the corporate office. read more

DIRTY...DIRTY...DIRTY! I really wish I would have spent a few more dollars and stayed somewhere else. The hotel is disgustingly dirty to the point of health risk! The lobby seemed fine but once we entered the hallway we could instantly tell the staff, management and owner had given up on cleanliness. The halls were filthy, the carpets were torn and peeling from the floor, and see the pics for other blemishes. As for the room...the hallways were immaculate in comparison to the rooms. We always travel with Clorox wipes and after wiping blood, yuckiness and whatever else the spots, streaks and globs were from the high touch areas we new the room wasn't cleaned! There were half used toiletries in the room and previous guest dirty clothes. And while there weren't many guests, the hotel didn't have a clean room to move us to. Additionally, they didn't have clean towels. We had to use mini-towels. Not a huge deal but neither is doing laundry. The only reason I didn't rate the place 1-star is the front desk staff was pleasant and the place was inexpensive. It is my recommendation that you look for other accommodations. The hotel is nice and the price is fair. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. But, what happened to the breakfast that they used to offer?? The restorant adjacent to the hotel is under construction so there is nothing to eat near by. It is a mile walk to the closest fast food and that gets old in a couple of days. Not our first trip to Killeen, but the first time staying at the Shilo Inn. We were greeted by Ms Betty who was a delight, we arrived earlier than expected and she was able to find us a room 2 hours early. The property is showing it's age and is in need of a facelift. In our room we found curtains that were torn, bathtub looks dirty, toothpaste stains on the vanity chair, and speck of who knows what on the bathroom wall. The room we stayed in was a Jr. King with Sleeper Sofa. The tub and restroom were in one room, but the sink and vanity were just outside the restroom next to the entry door. The room had a small living room with couch, table and two chairs that will work as a eating or working area and a mini refrigerator and small microwave. WiFi is free and easy to connect to, although not terribly fast, specially when the hotel is full. On the 3rd day of our trip we had some problems. We returned to our room and the key cards didn't work and needed to go down to the front desk 3 times before they worked. Once we got into our room, we discovered there weren't any towels left by the housekeeping staff. We had to go to the front desk to retrieve them. Then the next morning hot water wasn't working. Then when we returned for the day, again we didn't have any towels. Overall it wasn't a very good stay. Upon checkout, the front desk staff were apologetic and offered a 20 percent discount, but as of today 4 days later we have yet to see the credit to our account. read more

The Shilo Inn is close to the convention center. That, is the only good thing about the place. The inn is in desperate need of a remodel. Tube TVs in the rooms. The rooms are large, but the inn lacks the staff to maintain and clean them properly. There's a grease stain on the headboard, the halls are hot and I air conditioned. The carpets are worn and dirty. The thing is, there's not many options in Killeen. The town is rundown and there is an obvious criminal element. read more

Staff was super friendly and the rooms were clean. And that's where the positives end. The room jkey scanners on the doors are garbage. You'll spend a significant amount of time just trying to enter your room, which is frustrating if you work late. They ran out of clean towels while I was there so I washed them on my own, and their tvs are still tube tvs. Like, really? How? Why not just have rabbit ear antennas and the turn dials on the TV itself with no remote? Additionally, I am almost positive that the hotel allows random people to come and utilize their pool, which I assume is why their towels are all used up. The pool was PACKED every day, but the parking lot would empty later in the evening. I would absolutely stay any where else if possible. read more

Couldn't even stay because we saw three rooms all in really terrible condition. It's disappointing because we stayed here 4 years ago and it was actually pretty nice but I guess management changed and this place has gone way downhill. The first room had a giant, still wet pee stain in the middle of the room, the dishwasher was pulled out, and the microwave had exposed wires at the top. Not to mention, the smell is horrible and made worse by the fact that their AC is trash. The second room had floors covered in glitter and markers, truly looked like no one had cleaned the room since the last guests were there. The third room though was probably the best. There was visible, horrible water damage that covered half the ceiling with mold spots. It smelled musky and terrible and I'm truly appalled that they are still open and allowing people to stay in that safety hazard of a place. Not my type of hotel. Site says the pool and a restaurant on site. Buuut, the pool's broke and the restaurant/bar is closed. Rooms are dated and hk doesn't show up every day. If you need towels they'll give you a wrapped pkg at the front desk. There's only one washer and dryer for the whole hotel so be prepared to wait or wash elsewhere. Staff is polite and attentive to concerns but some things are out of their control. read more

Traveling on vacation we stopped to see our friend. I looked up best rated hotels. I figured what the heck splurge on a suite. The door mechanism is finicky and took me two trips to the front desk no biggie. For the money you would expect flat screen TV and updated shower. Luckily we are only staying 1 night but $160 wasn't worth it. Had I known what I know I would of stayed at the Marriot. The knob on the shower shot off scarring the crap out of my brother while he was taking a bath. read more

We chose this hotel because online, it "Seemed" the nicest in Killeen. We were transferring from overseas and needed a place to stay while my husband was in-processing. First, The location is really NOT convenient to anything in Killeen. If you're stuck in the hotel for the day plan on calling Uber Eats or something. Absolutely nothing within a one mile radius. Literally out in the middle of nowhere. We ended up taking Uber and walking. There was only a microwave in our room that stayed on the whole time so we had to unplug it until we needed to use it. Second, there is NO FREE breakfast downstairs anymore. The front staff stated that the owners changed it about a month ago. Prepare to pay $2 for a muffin. Didn't try the coffee because if its anything like what they put in our room - GROSS. The restaurant that is attached to the hotel is AHHHMAZING - when they are open. Only open for breakfast until 11am. The waitstaff make it worth it and the cooks are great at their job (that's a whole different review I suppose). I WILL be coming back to the restaurant for breakfast often. The rooms smelled - come to find out they allow pets. No big deal and its awesome that hotels do that. Some of us are sensitive to pet hair and I was sneezing and clogged up the whole week we were there. Was not told that we had a pet room or given an option to not have a pet room. Front desk personel were less than friendly and seemed to treat everyone like we were an huge inconvenience when checking in. PRO: The room was HUGE and spacious. Set up very nicely. The manager gave us the "on orders" TLA rate, after telling me that next time, call them directly for that and not use the online booking. He seemed annoyed and made me feel dumb for not going thru the correct path (although there's nothing stated to do it any other way). Overall - I wold not recommend. Avoid this hotel at all costs. The only good thing to say about it was the reception staff was great. The room was dirty. There were hairs on the sheets, dirty socks under our bed, we were told one of the staff member had sent their family for wash cloths because they had none clean or were short (not sure how this happens ) and overall felt gross. The pool is absolutely disgusting. When I say disgusting I mean it looked like a bacterial infection waiting to happen. Both hot tubs were literally brown and the pool's water was so murky you could not see the bottom. They staff informed us they could not remember the last time it had been treated with any chemicals. You could not pay me to stay here. We checked in and were out within an hour and a half. read more

My husband and I traveled all the way from New York and needed a pet friendly hotel. Upon arrival the halls smelled of extremely bad body odor, carpeting in hallways are outdated and once we got into our room it smelled of dog urine, the curtains were ripped, tv is so old school and we could hear the occupants upstairs running back and forth. Doing some shopping around, I found that Shilo Inn had some good amenities including wi-fi, fitness center and an indoor pool. They also have their own restaurant and bar too. If you stay at the Inn, they give you a coupon for a free house wine or domestic beer. I believe after doing some research, that this place is about $10-15 more per night compared to other hotels in the surrounding area and with the amenities and convenience of nearby attractions, I think this was worth paying the extra money. As for my room, I had a pretty big bed, with a separate area with a couch with a mini-kitchen. Bathroom was also nice. The whole room was maintained well. read more

Avoid this hotel like the virus! My experience here was absolutely horrible.. I don't know his name (maybe Steven I believe) but the guy behind the counter is short (which might be why he's so mad), white, beard, tattoos, and wears glasses. It would take me too long to type out the specifics of what happened but ultimately I was yelled at, threatened, badgered, and outright disrespected. As a black woman, to be treated like this especially during today's climate of racism made me feel like this is why he was treating me in this manner. I was humiliated, embarrassed, and so angry. I left and contacted expedia to request refund. They spoke with manager who really didn't take the matter seriously either (not surprised). They gave me the refund and I will deter anyone from going to this place. If the staff is this rude, I can't imagine the stay here. What a waste of a space!!!! read more

The three stars are for the people who actually work and actually care about guest satisfaction. Background information, we are military PCS to Hood Jan 2023, stayed at shilo until house closed 12 April 2023. Now the Good! Peter, Andrea, Frank, the GM, and the older white lady during days should all be given a raise today! They are the only ones consistently considerate and appreciative of the 15,000.+ worth of business I brought to the hotel. Now do I think my living area was worth it? Nope! Now the ugly, if you are PCSing DO NOT MAKE this place long term, my credit card was run up in the thousands for "authorization holds" and then the deduction for payment in the same amount each week. The chick down there doing this mess is financially negligent and it's a gross abuse of a consumer's trust with the credit card. They would run 3 cards the same day for the same amount and tack the authorization fee to all three. It was like pulling teeth to pay what I actually owed as only Andrea new the correct amount and the other's consistently touched my account Adding all kinds of random changes. I understand that I have authorization requirements but when you tie up 5,000 in authorization that won't be released until check out, you are seriously screwing people over. The attitude and non stop calls to my room at all hours was also very annoying.. and the biggest let down was playing Russian roulette on if i would have access to clean towels or blankets for that day! How the hell do you charge per night and not Provide towels, blankets, toilet paper, and basic needs that I pay to have access too! Not to mention the young African American boy who doesn't work there knocking on doors at all Hours to collect towels to steel! Overall! Not the shilo I used to love staying at! When it comes to military towns, it pretty difficult to find a 4-5 star hotel, if not impossible, hence the Shilo Inn. I have been to Killeen many times before, and have stayed at various name brand properties, but this is my first stay at a Shilo. When I first arrived, I said, man I'm giving this place four stars..but then I begin to see the facade.. While it looks new and elegant, the furniture and fixings are actually very cheap. Well, that's not a big deal, but wait, theres more! The room (suite) was actually quite nice. It had a little kitchen, couch, LCD, etc. I would compare it to a lower level Hilton Homewood Suites. Off to the Gym, um yeah..he gym consisted of 2 ellipticals, a treadmill (broken), one bike, and weights that are in really bad shape.. The saving grace here is the pool, jacuzzi, and sauna...At least it was not packed. Back to my room to check my email..or try to..the internet is VERY slow..oh well, that has happened before... Time to sleep. Or not. I was awoken several times by the bull in a china shop that lived upstairs from me...grr And it continues now as I write this review. All in all...Not Bad...but it does have potential to be a 4. read more

A TRULY A HALF A STAR HOTEL!!! Got lock out my room more than once, old fur and mold in bathroom. Old carpet that buckles and dirt.

The hotel rooms are a nice size, convenient location. Plus, there is a cigar lounge attached. This hotel is dated and needs serious renovations, which I believe they were doing when we stayed. Towels and tissue is hard, need to consider changing brands. Could be very nice if the owner invest in the decor, looks like its from the 80s. read more

If you're looking for a pleasant surprise in Killeen, the Shilo Inn is your spot. Needing a room during a visit, I looked at the reviews on the normal chains I stat at and found lots of negatives. I knew the Shilo was nice from when I lived here and expected a high cost - but after looking at their rates, I found they offered a king mini-suite for less than a normal room at a local chain (I had to check the site though because the same room had several different rates) The room was huge and nicely laid out. While this was a one-nigt stay, I could see it being comfortable for multiple-day stays. The bed was comfy, no major noise issues, and everything was clean. The thing that put it over the top was the free drink coupons and free breakfast vouchers which took an already lower priced room and increased it's value. Very outdated, still has box TV. No towels available in the room after the 1st day. When we asked for towels we were they didn't have any more and we were put on a waiting list for towels. Two days later we were given two towels for 5 people and they were pool towels, not room towels. The indoor pool and spa was so cloudy you could not see the bottom of the pool and the air vents have mold in them. When we checked out there was a letter at the checkout desk stating that housekeeping is selling towels to anyone willing to pay for them! read more

The television is an older analog television, but the picture was good. However, the channel selection seem to be right out of the 1970s.If there was If there was Wi-Fi in the hotel, my phone and my tablet computer could not see them. The restaurant attached to the hotel was closed. There was no room service menu. All I did there was sleep and I did not try to use the gym or the pool as my son-in-law and his wife and I were here to see his brother and sister and their families.It was also It was also interesting that the 300 some odd dollars that I paid for the rooms for four days and gendered another over $300 of non-specific service fees, which were not well explained certainly in terms of other amenities in the hotel. The impression I get is that this business is failing. I use this hotel, because my son who used to be a police officer in Kaline said that hookers and pimps did not hang out here, and certainly I saw nobody who appeared to be nefarious in the area. if I come to Killeen again to visit my son, I'm really gonna look for a different hotel read more

This hotel is okay with falsely advertising rooms and prices while also booking horribly dirty rooms. We booked the managers suite which was advertised as having a king bed plus 2 queen beds. Upon arrival, one of the employees shared that they have no room as such and that advertisement was supposed to be removed from their website months ago. The managers suite only had a sofa bed and a king bed. To remedy the situation, we were given another room with 2 queen beds. Unfortunately, we never made it to the room with the 2 queen beds because the managers suite was disgusting! The lights in the room were very dim and some lights were even blown out. This led me to believe that the Shilo Inn was hiding something and indeed they were, a super disgusting room. The managers suite is supposed to be their best room at the hotel but clearly it's their worst. We did not feel comfortable at all stay at this hotel, ended up getting a refund, and leaving to find a more tidy place to stay. The hotel was honestly disappointing when it came to interior the hallways need a little work the room keys are a bit janky and there was not silverware in the rooms but to make up for that the service was impeccable I honestly couldn't believe how good the service was compared to five star hotels I previously stayed in I was having issues getting food from the connected restaurant but the assistant general manager helped me sort that out they were understanding with most if not all issues and were lovely to converse with I would definitely recommend staying here though the interior needs work the employees are great and make up for my inconvenience you may experience read more

Stayed here for a week due to being waitlisted for a house at ft.hood and by day 4 I woke up with a rash all over my chest and chest tightness. I have lung issues to begin with. Upon inspection I found mold in the shower and other spots around the room. The rash I developed is from exposure to mold. Will not be staying here again. Front desks only solution was moving us to another room 3 hours from the time I complained. Poor customer service. read more

Could use more cleaning. One of my glasses had food/lipstick smudge on it and there were small drink spills in the fridge. It gets 3 stars because the room was large and cozy. It could easily fit four but there needs to be more attention to detail. They do give coupons for a complimentary drink at check-in as well as voucher for the breakfast. I received 2 because I was only staying one night. I'm not sure what they would give for people there for an extended time. Hopefully enough for each morning they are guests. The breakfast was hot/cold. I think a bit bigger than continental. I think just bagels and coffee when I hear that. The hotel has much to offer. The rooms are spacious and have full kitchens. The lobby and halls smell like horrible body odor. We were excited to have a kitchen, so we bought food and wine to enjoy in the room. Sadly, the kitchen lacks basic supplies one would expect--utensils, oven mitts, wine glasses, dish detergent, dish towel.... The bar is nice and the happy hour includes delicious salads you can take back to the room. Overall I'm happy, next time I'll come with paper plates, towels, utensils, Clorox wipes, wine glasses. Rooms are spacious and come with kitchen area great for extended stays or eating in. No silverware but bowls and plates. Beds and linen could use a mayor update- lumpy beds, small pillows and stains. Box TVs in 2018 are unacceptable for an updated, non motel stay. Staff is helpful and friendly for the most part. Complimentary drink upon arrival was awesome but the waitress was a little less pleasant. During our stay never once were the floors vacuumed even with visible debris. Complimentary breakfast is great if you're into it and a swimming pool with an outdoor addition was a hit for the kids. read more

We had a block of ten rooms for family funeral. Everyone said their rooms were comfortable, clean and used the kitchens. We were there for the days, so kitchens came in handy for lunches. They provided a hospitality room, so that Knights of Columbus could provide refreshments after the rosary on Tuesday. Kudos to sales manager, Mrs.Hull. We stayed for 3 nights during a recent move and found it to be a great hotel and probably the nicest in Killeen. Rooms are comfortable, the complimentary breakfast is tasty, and the staff is extremely friendly. There was a bit of mold on the bathroom ceiling which keeps it from 5, but still a great spot for a city with so few. For company events, I would comfortably say it's among the best options in Killeen. Their meeting rooms are nice and the food is good. We did a Dakota bar at one and pasta at another with both being very good. Definitely a good choice for military hail and farewells. read more

ODD. Yep, odd place. It's like they asked themselves how to make it LOOK good but not FUNCTION at all. The rooms are plenty big, but with walls so thin you can hear the couple next door argue all morning about why he did not bring her a waffle from the free breakfast buffet. It's an all-suite property, but the suites are the quasi, half-wall variety where you do not really have two rooms. There's a heated pool (full of children) and a hot tub (which does not work and is surrounded by crime scene tape). There's a great makeup mirror, but the lights are so low at the dressing area you cannot use it. There's two TV's--because it would be fun to watch two different programs at once. They have satellite and not cable, so when the wind blows SNL goes OFF and does not return in a timely manner, or at all. I was there for a wedding reception, which was beautiful. The place was a good venue for that, but I think it's because the bride has stellar taste and made sure everything was to her liking. But because we were there for an event our rate was $79 and not the $129 rack rate. If I'd paid $129 I'd have been annoyed. But it was great for the price point we had. Also, when I called to book the room, I had to call back repeatedly because they did not answer. And then I had to talk to different folks because they could not figure out the rate for the event. It all worked out, but it was not easy. read more

To start out on a positive note, the staff is wonderful!! They are all so sweet and great to chat with. The hotel is not what it looks like. The outside makes it look like a 4 star hotel. The rooms are large but not taken care of. I have a trail of something that looks like blood going across the entire room. There are also other questionable stains on the floor and wall. Last, I had no wash cloths for the shower and there was old toothpaste on the hair dryer. I read another review about the hot tub having crime scene tape around it a couple months ago. I stayed here a couple months ago for a week. Before that I was at Comfort Suites. Comfort Suites does not even compare. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was by myself with my 3 small children and this hotel by far made my stay much easier. The rooms were extra clean, fairly new looking hotel, very large rooms, and a very decent size bathroom which made it easier to bathe my children. This is the only affordable hotel in Killeen that I have felt comfortable giving my kids a bath instead of a shower. They have a large, clean breakfast area. My only complaint would be the long check-in line and only one person at the desk. Took about 30 minutes if not more and my kids were not taking the wait very well. But hey, it's Killeen when isn't there a wait anywhere. I recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the area.I will be back to this hotel for another week long stay in May! read more
