They have a decent selection of frozen foods, condiments, ramen, snacks, and some kitchen accessories. There is a limited fresh produce section and they also have yummy kimbap by the cashier. Great local korean market when a drive to burlington is a bit of a hassle. Obviously not the same selection as HMart but prices are comparable or better on a lot of what they do have and in my opinion have a better selection of snacks, instant noodles, and deserts which is what you are looking for from a local place. Get your staples and meats from Hmart. Satisfy your weekly cravings here. Great and friendly staff. Cleaner than most local marts ive been in. read more

A decent Asian store with all the basics you can expect. I am sure they have more but I just get the basics and I am not that creative with my Asian cooking. The store was clean and all products that I saw were current in date. There was a man in the back room playing an electric guitar which was kind of nice. Smaller than the pictures will have you believe, but I got everything I needed. People were friendly, one of the guys showed my son a magic trick. A little hard to get too from the highway if you're coming from NH, but I'd say it was worth it if you can't make it all the way to H-Mart. read more

When I can't get to H Mart this is where my wife and I go. Just slightly closer than going to Manchester's Saigon Asian market and stuffed with a good variety of Asian needs. They have decent prepared dried squid in sauce, sweet and spicy. Plenty of sauces, frozen entrees, rice, tofu and a small butcher shop. Sometimes they have prepared side dishes too. We are going today as we need our weekly fix of Asian supplies and my wife wants some desserts. read more

This is a nice Korean grocery store. It has a large variety of foods and it's own butcher. The store is very clean and they even make and sell their own fresh kimchi if you're into that. There's all kinds of sauces and seasonings and I am a fan of Korean BBQ, so I always grab a bottle or so of BBQ sauce. If you haven't tried the ice cream they sell there, u should! Honeydew melon ice bars and red bean are my favs! Give them a try! If you're around the area, drop in and poke around! My husband and I recently moved to the area from Quincy, which is loaded with a wide variety of Asian markets- we were disappointed to see a lot fewer options in this area. While H-Mart is always an option we prefer to support local businesses and they also tend to be more affordable. My mother-in-law has been coming to Shin Shin for some time now, so I was happy that it was only a 15 minute drive from me. Yes it's a smaller store, but you're going to find almost everything you need from a Korean Market. They have tons of frozen foods if you don't want to take a chance on making your own homemade Korean food. They have a section in the front of the store with homemade banchan/korean side dishes. I've tried all of them and I have to say honestly they're way better than H-Mart's. They have a small meat counter as well as a small produce section that sells the basic produce you will need for korean cooking like onion, mushroom, tofu, scallions etc. The dry goods are loaded with Korean snacks and candy, seaweed, lots of sauces and delicious additions to your meals and the back corner of the store is stocked to the ceiling (literally) with every kind of Ramyun you could imagine. They even have Korean ice creams ready to eat in the front frozen case. If you need stone bowls, a BBQ grill topper for your portable gas burner, or other small household needs they also have a section for those items as well. To top off their impressive selection for a smaller store, they have SUCH a nice staff. Everyone working there always greets us with a smile when we come in, are always willing to help me find something I'm looking for, and they will even open a second register if they're able to and there's 2 people waiting in line! I highly recommend stopping in Shin Shin market for a more personalized experience than the bigger stores, and honestly, their prices are close to being the same as the bigger stores- even cheaper in some instances. You're supporting a local family and business, and you're getting pretty much everything you need to prepare Korean dishes! read more

Shin Shin Oriental Grocery located at Lawrence, MA (near Hee Bin Grill) is a grocery especializing in Korean items. It is truly a treasure trove of anything Korean from food to kitchen items, and Korean dramas/movies (unfortunately, no English subs). Their selection of asian groceries to make your favorite Korean dishes is amazing and I just loved it that we were able to buy homemade banchans (those side dishes offered to you in every Korean restaurant as a sort of appetizer... the most popular of which is Kimchi). The proprietor is very friendly and helpful. I'm sure that if you are just knew to the culture, he would willingly help you with any questions. Although most of the items are listed in Korean, but it should not stop you from being adventurous and trying Korean food and culture. read more

I live in North Andover and cook a variety of Asian foods rather often. I love that "other" store down in Burlington but getting there is a bit of a trek for a simple bottle of this or that. When Japanese or Korean are on the menu and I need a place closer to home Shin Shin Oriental is THE place to go in the Merrimack Valley. The store is neat, clean, and well stocked with a decent assortment of Korean and Japanese staples with an emphasis on the Korean. The staff & owners are exceptionally friendly. The banchan (Korean side dishes) in the fridge by the meat counter are fresh and delicious for those times when I'm not in the mood to make my own. Their meats are quite good though perhaps a bit pricey. Frozen food selection (gyoza, unagi, fish roe, etc etc.) is pretty good considering the small size of the store and freezer space. The produce can be good, great even sometimes, but this can be hit or miss (I suspect it's either a seasonal thing or I just haven't figured out when they are getting their produce shipments.) If you want some basic staples to stock the kitchen for the impromtu riff on some korean dish like bi bim bap, or maybe a quick japanese curry, or need that soup base for that "leftovers" ramen bowl this is a great place with a good selection. Very disappointed. The store employee told me about few weeks ago that the product that I wanted will appear the week after. I went inside, I did not see the product that I wanted to buy. When I entered the store, there is a chime sound, to show that the customers either enter or exit the store. When I entered the store, nobody did not come to assist me. They were at the other side of the store being hidden and nobody was not at the cash register. Also, they sell items that have been expired. I was at that store for less than 5 minutes, then I left the store with a disturbed feeling. This will be the last time for me to go to that store. If I want Asian food items, then I will go somewhere else. Good riddance to that store. read more

The owner is very friendly and although it is far smaller than HMart it is privately owned and struck up a conversation and gave us two coupons to two Korean restaurants in Boston and free Kim Chi. Well stocked. However, found several items in a central freezer which were not frozen, but should have been frozen. Double checked too. I would dare say if you are the proprietor of a store better check on the temperature of your freezers otherwise you are selling thawed food to the public. Bad. Not visiting anytime soon. read more
