They couldn't have made a better recommendation. Zach is responsive and clear in communicating by email, which makes everything much easier. He came by and helped us think through different options for both ceiling lighting and under-cabinet lighting, and when we asked him to recommend specific products for the job, he was happy to do so. He made everything incredibly easy. The actual work turned out great. ZAE showed up when they were supposed to, did high quality work, and left the site as clean as how they found it. The lighting improvements ended up being our favorite part of the kitchen upgrade overall. Importantly, the quoted price was quite reasonable, there was no haggling needed, and there were no surprises at the end. Additionally, while working on the job, Zach gave me some pointers on things I could do myself around the house - which I found especially helpful, not being particularly handy myself. More recently, I had a couple minor issues related to some lighting work I did elsewhere in the house. Stumped, I emailed Zach looking for suggestions. Again, he was responsive by email, and he offered to stop by the house one afternoon to take a look and provide further helpful suggestions. And, unlike other contractors (especially electricians and plumbers) that I've experienced, this didn't come with an exorbitant bill just to knock on my door! Based upon what the electrician told me from Bornschein electric, most of the equipment is rated by the UL and should last about 100 years. He said unless we started experiencing issues in the house, we should be good. I thanked him for the information. Bornschein is dependable and has integrity. I contacted SJO Electric on the advice of a friend and I couldn't be happier! Ben and Geoff came out the next day and diagnosed the problem. I asked them to look at all the new electrical work and within minutes they identified several significant issues (not the first problem I had with the contractor I hired to do the reno) and on my request provided a quote to correct the issues. Ben and Jeff came out the next week and spent 4 hours correcting the problems (upgrading breakers, code compliance, adding GFI protection, and adding boxes) in my new kitchen. They had to add a box to the exterior wall of my kitchen (since it was already finished) so they also installed a very nice exterior outlet. They were punctual, friendly, courteous and cleaned up after the job, but most importantly competent, skilled and efficient. SJO Electric not only repaired the faulty work of another firm but gave me peace of mind that the work was done correctly. I now feel safe in my home again! He guided me through my options, we talked about where to put a 220 outlet in my garage, and the fact that the aluminum wiring in my 1970's house is problematic for charging an EV - something the dealership did not mention. So glad I hired Justin to do this job! He installed copper wire from the breaker box all the way through the basement to the garage for my new outlet.
