I was walking out feeling a bit despondent when I saw some jade jewelry in a Jewelry Art Center display and popped in to ask if they could repair my ring. Jewelry Art Center said yes we can repair your ring, we're a bit busy it'll take a few weeks. In years and decades past, you had to have a business license or a guest pass from one of the showrooms for entry. These days however, the center is open to the public at large, a big plus & welcome change. Lately been a sucker for 14k chains again. Gold seemingly making a huge comeback and never really goes out of style. Looking to treat myself. I set a budget going in. I also did a fairly exhaustive search on eBay to get baseline pricing numbers for my chain before arriving. Humbled-honored to meet really sweet couple Nilo & Gul Mohammed, owner-proprietors of "A One Imports," located on Lower Level, along with all of the other showrooms. They've been here 40 years serving customers. And, they had precisely what I had come to look for in my desired piece...at what I must say was a very fair (borderline incredible?) price, comparatively speaking. And trust me, I compared. Same necklace retail at--say Macy's, Zale's, Kay's, Amazon (cheap stuff) or even eBay would've been hundreds, possibly up to $1K more by weight, design and markup. Mrs. Mohammed (Nilo) works hard to stay within your budget, making sure you're a completely satisfied customer in the end. Check some of the other showrooms if you must, but make sure you at least include A One Imports for comparison before settling on your final purchase(s). You could potentially save a tidy sum and fold some of your hard-earned money back in your pocket. I doubt this business will be undersold here at the Center. Their impressive showroom of fine jewelry includes loose diamonds, jewelry repair, and they even buy scrap gold. AND--a huge, unheard-of plus here at the Center--they accept most major credit cards without any mark up-processing fees. Most of the other showrooms request cash only or will hit you with the interchange fees that the banks charge the merchants. No mark-up at this showroom means the customer enjoys a measure of flexibility with financing & budgeting those larger purchases like wedding & engagement sets for example. Give 'em a shot! However after testing today the ring is 10k with a coating over it to make it brighter. Your "co owner " accused me of replacing the stones which is ridiculous, but how do you explain the gold content? I can't switch this out. Danny was the best - honest, and did excellent work! I wanted to use my mother's stone for my engagement, but was running up against really ridiculous quotes to make a new ring. For this reason, I didn't feel I could trust many of these trendy individual jewelers. I was almost at the point of simply purchasing a ring, until I found Danny. I sent him photos of what I wanted and he did precise work so that my ring was not bulky. Don't go to an overpriced jeweler. You can't trust someone better than Danny. read more

One of the small posts holding the section that covers the lower finger to the knuckle joint piece had broken off completely, leaving it held together very loosely and frailly with three posts instead of four. I searched on Yelp and called around and finally managed to get in to Balzan. It felt a little weird walking in dressed in my hobo bike gear wanting to get a silver chunky ring repaired when they obviously deal in precious jewels and metals but hey, not all of us are into those things. Plus, this ring has sentimental value to me and I really wanted it repaired. I talked to a wonderful and friendly lady behind the counter who was fascinated by my armour ring (I guess the bonus of unusual jewelry like that is they don't get to see it often in those types of shops!) She said she was pretty sure one of the jewelers could repair it for me with a piece of silver (since the ring itself is solid silver). I filled in my information, got my return ticket, and headed out. A little less than a week later, I received a phone call that my ring was ready to be picked up. She told me that they were open a bit later that evening so I didn't have to rush insanely out of work to get there (they close normally at 4:30 pm). They also only take cash or check, so she gave me the price over the phone so I could have it with me when I arrived. I showed up just in time and she pulled my ring out for me. It was perfect! You can't even tell where the new post was put in to fix the joint! It had also been cleaned up so it was once again shiny and new looking! I happily paid my $25 in cash, knowing I'll get more years out of my beloved ring. I will happily go back here if I have other jewelry needs in the future! The 4:30 close time and only open on the weekdays is a bit frustrating, not gonna front, and taking only cash or check is also annoying, but honestly, for how happy they made me with the work they did and how nice and sweet the customer service was, I'll happily deal with those little inconveniences.
